Objectives and Activitles
The objective of this church is to thance tl)e C￿￿tian rdigKJn in a￿rdance with the dcth¥ies,
principles ar¥J usages of unit￿ Rdormed ChJr¢h.
The church is also a member of Churches Tcxjdher in PaJmer5 Green, Wnchmore Hill and Grange
Park. Membership of the Chweh is cyen to all cffl wofession of faith arnl acceptm ty existing
memt*rs.

Structure. Governance and Managèment
The church has I￿n in existen￿ on this ￿te for over 116 years, ath(wh a charity f( was exceptod
from registration. 11 was fitsl r&Jistered as a ch￿lty on 16 Juty 2009 under nunbw 1130583.
The detaI￿d of ￿aderShip and Organ￿ation is ¢arvied (Mji by MeMte￿ of Core Groups consisting
of Elders and other members, with the Minister and C(xrespondence SecTrtsry asso¢iated as
appropriate. The remaining core group ceased C￿ 23 November 2025 and the minister is rk)w
responsible for C￿lIr￿￿ a group as when needed.
The work of the church is SUPF*)rted ty a Finan￿ aTrJ Fabric RestyJr¢es Committee lo d8al with the
fi￿ce 8nd txopety matters. The officers ofthis ccwmrttee are as follM.'

Overall leadwship ar*J pastoral oversight are the respc￿S1b11ty of current serving Ekjers CO which

The church is committed lo safeguarding in every area of church lrfe mir¥slry. A lot of time continues
lo be invested lo make sure we understand and IMp￿ment the Syn(Kl Safeguarding Policy based on
GOCKI Practice 6 and to undertake the appropriate training.

Flnancial
The accounts for the year are set ￿t on Pa￿ 4 to 6. The trustees have taken the OPFx*(unty lo
prepare these fin￿la1 statements in aCCordar￿e ￿th ts Charrties Act 2011 sect￿ 130, using the
Rewpls and Payments basis available to small d)ant￿5, and the Unf(ed Refomied Church guidance.
The￿ is a surplus on our Unrestricted {Congregationall Acc¢yJnt of £3.518. As we budget￿ for a deficrt
of£11,360 this is a very S*isfactory ￿lCOMe Jxrt fcf ycial Main￿ non r￿Urring reasons. Once more
we have not trarBferred the usual £30k to our Repair Fund ￿tyIng on previous reserves foi the lime
being. The (kfiat after reLeipt of a fvll year reTrt￿ the manse. Our new minister was inducted in May
and has chosen to live in the Wnchmore Hill manse. H￿¥eVer it prove£1 impossible lo get possessitin
until recentty aThJ in the meantime a flat had to be hired lo accommcKlate him and his family. We are
grateful lothe Synodforeoveriry extra costs. Al ￿rr*rVeS will be used in due course on prop
manlenance.

The designat￿1 funds are detailed in note 2 to the statements. These funds ￿ve fallen durirg the year
as we start lo expend fi1￿JS cn fees regarding the r¢))f even aler interest and transfws from
Unrestricted Funds. We owe approxmatdy £40,CQO for rwlirE repair works. At the etxj of the year the
total of (￿r Designated Funds We￿ £175.242. Of this totsl £60,722 is held in a cash fund to help with
the cost of re￿a¢ing the san¢tuw and main hall roots %then the time comes recent indications are
that this wll not be erKll￿h. In additi(￿ we have investments allocat￿ lo this fijnd and WCKM £120,696
al 31 December 2025.
The restrtcted is mainty am￿nts coll&ied for clhers and a srant for our youth worker who left
dLWWU the year ￿ a ts18r￿e of the grant is due back to Synod.

all exceptional experKJtiure ￿"n9 met frrffln DesKJnated FuThJs. A deficrt is expected in 2026 bul at
present manageable from these reserves.
Invostmgnt Pollcy
In the past our funds were al held in bank xccyjnts. fr￿￿er, we were ad￿s￿l that work on the
hig1￿leVel rcx)fs was ￿1 likety to be ne￿SSary for at knt 5 year5, £50,000 was transferred to COIF
Investment Ethical Fund in 2016 in the hork that we ean enjoy a higher retum and at least keep pace
th Inflat￿n. At the year end ttru"s investr)ent was woru) £120 6SE and atthough this was a fall over the
12 months the income was mwnI￿ned so we Mll contnue to monrtorthe positw)n in curTent year.
Risk Management durlng the ygar
The trustees have Klentified vthat Ihty b￿￿ve to be Ihe major risks which the church faces and are
sati8fied that these have been. or be, adeq￿Iety mrtigated fve necessary.
Volunteers
As would be ext*eted writhin a church structtjre, most ￿1VitieS of the church are carried out by
volunteers, apart from the sti￿ndIary Mirrister who is p8id from a central church Ministry and Missk)n
fvnd lo wh￿h this church cortributes. ar¥J our Organists who are pahy directy by the church. The church
employ two other part lime wc¥kers lo assist ￿th alministration and wth our y(xJth work bLrt we
are 8ti11 very muth reliant on our memkers to fu￿￿1 the ci)jeclives of the church.
Public Benefit
When planning our actrvittes for the year. the Elders have considered the Commission's gutdance on
public benefi't including the $￿c￿le guidance on Charities for the advan￿rnent of religion. Everyone 1$
welcome lo alleTh# (xjr regular services and other a(aiwties. Some of our regular worshippers are
residents in residential homes in the area and where requested they are assist￿ to get lo the church
activities indudirKJ worship. The church I￿11[￿n9 is regstered lo allow for the marrh2ge of same sex
couples.
Achlevements and perfomance
Worship remains central to the lrfe of Palmers Green URC. and we are graeful lo the ministers, lay
pre￿her$. and cur *￿ShiP teams lead sewes.
The ChLrch is a member of Churches Together in Palmers Green, ￿nthmOre Hill and Grange Park.

workwith these other churches during theyear, meeting regularty wrth represent2tives. This relationship

Palmers Green URC is a member of the Enfield East Herts Local Group, along with 9 0th
neighb¢Juring United Rel0￿ed Churches. The churches in the group together on issues including
ministry, mIss￿)n, and disCip￿h1P.

During 2019 we started to lor* al the envIr¢)￿e￿a imp&t of our &tivities. v￿oLl￿ changes were
made so that we now operate in a"greeW way. and the church qualrfied for a Br(nze ￿ard from Eco
Church. We are now I￿king at achieving the Silver avrdrd ￿ have aready improved the windows in
our main hall with secondary glaang and have appli￿ for planning consent lo improve the roof
insulation. In 2019 we also tecame a member of the Ir￿lU$￿e Church fft￿ork, bthich '¢elebrales and
affimis every person and do&8 ncrt discriminate". T￿S has continued in the last year and we have
received an Eco audit of our premises and ￿pe with hdp of Syntsj to improve the insulation in the
ma#7 hall rcL)f and later in roof of the sa￿luary.
The church has increased the amourrt sel aside to £3.00(Pa for Charities which 1$ distributed at the ye8r
end and also to support dtsaster 4)peals as appropviale.
Our ¢huTch membership at the end of 2025 was 54. Trre we several n the corKJregation attendirKJ
8ervices regLdarty on Sunday momings who h￿1 ncrt yet c(*nmitted to full membership.
Unfortunately our youth wcM1(er was thed to l¥ve UK vthen hi% visa exr*red kxrt we are n¢y•V
seeking grants lo ernpby an outreath worker lo extend our Work in the community. We conliwe lo
enjoy the regular parade serV￿eS of our unrf<ymed organi5atiorE vtsre the seNce is manly led by the
young WF4e.
Our magazine was ￿0d￿ed qLWrterfy and 15 wdl [￿e1ved FortiC￿aty by those can no (orwJerjoin
us on a Sunday.
