Hertfordshire LcKal Area GTOUP of the Thames North SynoU of United Reformed Church.
The church is also a member of Churches Tcgether in Palmers Green, WnchmoTr Hill and Grange
Park. Membership of the chwch ts cw to all C￿ wofession of faf(h aThJ accepts￿ by existing
members.

Structure, Governance and Management
The cMrch has been in existen￿ on this for over 110 ¥￿. although a Charity il was excepted
from registration. It was fiist registw&Y as a charty on 16 Juty 2009 urKler number 1130583.

Financial
The accounts for the year are set (Krt on pages 4 10 7. The trustees have taken the opportunity to
prepare these financial statements in &Corda￿e Trmth ￿ Charrties Act 2011 Section 144, using the
Receipt$ and Payments t)asis avalabfe to small charrt*s, aThJ the United Refomed Church guidance.

As we agan deuded to transfer the usual £30k to our D￿gnated Funds yopety repairs and
then re¢&ved a balance of insurarte claim of £6,574 V￿ ended the year bmth a surplus on our
Unrestricted Fund of £14,795 which wl)en added to Ihe bala￿e brcKJght fcThard gwes us £74,530 to
carry forward in this fund.
The designated funds a￿ detailed in note 2 to the statements. These furyls have increased during the
year due to transfers from Unrestricted FuTrJs. At end of the year the total of our Designated Funds
was £202,120. Of this total £63,478 is held in a cash fund to hdp wrth the cost of retAacing the sanctuary
roof when lime comes. In a(klrtion have InVestn￿lS alIL￿ated to this fvnd and worth £103,003
al 31 Decernbw 2022.

Investment Policy
In the past our funds were dl held in bar* accounts. Howevw, when wewere advis&J that work on the
h￿tr￿leVel roots is nrrt likely lo te nxessary for * Seast 5 years, £50,000 was transferred lo COIF
Investment Ethical Futxj in 2016 in the hork thal we ￿loY a higher retum and at least k*p pace
th inflatKJn. At the year end this investmentwas wc¥th £103.003 having fallen in value duriryJ the year
bLrt expected to recover beftre fvnds are needed for the cyigina purpose.

Volunteers
As would be exFected ￿1th1n a church structure, most activthes of the church are ¢arried out by
volunteers. apart ftom the SIiKEn¢*ary Minister who is paid fr(¥n a central church Ministry and MissKJn
ftjnd to which this church contnbutes. and our Organists vtho a￿ w'd dire¢tty by the church. The work
of the church is, theofore. srt)stanbaty dependent the voluntary meM1￿rS, but as mentioned
above durir@ the year tm) empbyees have been r￿ruled to a$￿st wth the work of the church.
Public Benefit
When planning aCtNit￿S for the year. the Elders have cc￿s•dered the Ccfftmission's guidance on
public benefrt induding the specffic guida￿ on charities for the advancement of religion. Everyone 15
welcome lo atte￿1 our reguLgr Se￿￿eS and ot￿r thtses. Sc¥ne of our regular worshippers are
residents in residential homes in area and where requested they are assisted to get lo the church
activities indudirKJ worship. Towdlds the erKt of the year into 2023 the ¢hurch has ￿$F￿n(led to
the need for a warm $￿e offered free of ch*ge to th)se ui need arKI organis&Y by Enfielil Age UK
SUpp￿ted by church Volunt￿$.
Achievements and perfornmnce
Worship remair6 cerrtrJ to the lrfe of Palmers Green URC, and we are grateful lo the ministers, lay
preachers, and c¥Jr worship teans w￿* lead servKes.
The Church is a member of C￿rCheS Together in Pamers Green, Winchrnore Hill and Grangg Park.

Chuich. In 2019 ￿ also twme a member of Inclusve C￿r¢h net*Y>rk, whth "cdebrales and
affirms evèry Fttson and does rM)t discnminate".
We collected to SUPFQrt V¥10￿ charit￿. The ¢Mrch has c¢￿tinU*j to 8UPPOrt work in Tabora,
Tanzania, thr￿gh one of cwr chLrch membtrrs wtho returned frcffi working there dunng 2008.
We conllnue lo cdlect food and cash dcfiatK>M for North Enfiekl Food Bart(. We did again offer to host
a night shelter whkh would have teen supported ty AI P￿r4e, All Places. wth different l(tal churches
hoslirrfJ one night each 80 that the week wag covered. Unfortunately due lo chang98 in

join us on a Sunday.
