The Leigh Folk Festival held events in church including Story Telling Julv Members of the PCC viwted the HARP Bluebird project in Southend, a project whlch St. Clemenvs helped to fvnd. A Crdft Fair was held in the church. St. ClemenY5 was a venue for the Leigh Art Trail and Include(i creative Workshops njn by Violette Dooley our exhib0t1 artist. Refreshments sokl dur1 the'Shake5peare In the rk. event in the Llbrdry Gardens. The fundraising barbecue was enh)yed by a large number of people. The Mothers, Union held a Strawberry Tea In Gillian and Tonrfs Garden raisin8 money for the'summer of Hope. appeal. September Mtr. Liizy was ordained prlest by Bishop Gull at All Sainls Hutton. A wonderful service attended by several members of St. Clemenys. Aprll Holy Week and Easter was celebrated wrth the due solemnity that the season require On Good Friday 5tatlons of the Cross took plate at various polnts in the Broadway. a Children's Activity was held in church and (Hotl Cross buns were enjoyed by all. The thurch was decorated with lilies paid for by donations glven In memory of loved ones whose names were displayed by the prayer candle. Four new Serve Mark, Harry, Ethvard ar Bill were admStte(i to the Gulld of St. Hugh. Klm and Peter celebrated their Sifver Wedding Anniversary with a special servlce when they renewed their vows. Harvest Festlval was telebrated Includlng a Harvest Lunch enjoyed by all. October A successful Jumble sa was held or8antsed by the Fundralsing Team The legislation regardin8 the stalu5 of the parish was revoked allowing Fr. Clive to become Rector rather than Prlest-In-char8e. May The Coronation of Kin8 Charles and aln Camilla was celebrated wlth a party in church wlth everyone having a great time of games, quizzes, food and fellowship. All those who attended were given a commemoratlve Coronatlon Mu8. The church held an Open Day on the CoronatK>n bank holidav. The Essex Assoclation of Change Rlngers rnng a full peal of Double Norwich Court Bob Major in celebratn of the Coronation. 5t Clemenvs said goodbye to Mtr. Llzzy after the celebration of her first Mèss and wished her well In her new appointment as Assistant Priest at St. Alban's Westcllff. The FaCe2F arts Chaplalncy started 'ArtSpoce' monthly opportunsty for anyone, artistic or not, to share a lime of creatNFty palntlng and drawin& sharing ideas and inspiratnS. A small group of people from St. Clement's made three day PSlgrimage to the Shrine of OUT Lady of Wabingham for a time of spirFtual renewal, fellowship and relaxation. A suttessful autumn Craft Fair was held In the church. After almost io years as our Parish Priest Fr. Clive celebrated his final ma at St Clemenvs on Sunday 22 . This was followed by lunch and later in the afternwn. EvensonE. Both seNices were very moving and well attended. He will be greatly missed and we wish him well in hi5 new post In Australia. 34 pilgrlms took part in a day pilgrimage tt> Walsingham. The Advent Course, Patriorch, Prophet, PrlesL took place on Tuesday5 durlng AdvenL There was a full church for the Folk Carol Sep41ce with baby William playing the parr of the babyjesus in the tradltlonal processlon. On the followin8 Sunday the choir led the Carols by CarKllel¥ht Service which was followed by mulled WI and mince pies. There was Jlso a full churth for the lively Cri Servlce whlch conclLJed wlth 8IrtIKlay Cake. Copies of 'Follow the Starf with 12 days of refiections for Christmas and New Year were available. We thank her for her regular articles and Art Ileflection5 in the Magazine. The Elght22 group publishe5 ways in we can all be more eco-friendly. We are gratefu5 to Sylvia Locke for organising the housekeeping team and our Flower Ladles for ensuring the church is kept clean and beautiful. Routine works of repair and maintenance have been attended to. All suTheys and tests requi by law have en carried out. Health and Safety Risk Assessments have ten carr out for all activities and events. Mu51c The small. but faithful, choir have continued to lead the sung servi5 during the year. Imth the Ilmlted numbers we are not able to extend our repertoire at present. Durin8 the winter months we have been pYactFcing on a Sunday momlng at 11.15 and would welcorne anyone who would like to join us. We wlll revert to practicing on Thursday evenings when the Weath warms up. The Parochlal Church Coun¢ll (PCC) The PCC met 6timesdurin8 the year. At the scheduled meetings the Council addressed current matters concemin8 thè church, received minutes from Its commlttee5 and reports from our Synod representstive5, Safeguarding and Heafth and Safety offir$. It also authorised and managed necessary and on-golng work to the fabric of the bulldlng.
