The Trustees submit their report and th¢ financial statem¢nts for the year ended 30th June 2024. Thc
Charity is governed by an approved goveTlling docutnent issued by the United Refornied Church
(URC). The objects clause of that document has not change4L The object of the Charity is the
advancement of the Chrlstian faith for the benefft ofthe public in accor￿ with the Scheme of
Union of the URC.
The Trustees
Trustees of the Charity are the serving Elders of the church. They ate elected by the members to
serve for a period of three year& at the end of which they nwy be eli￿1)]e to offer themselves for Te-
Clection. Nominees for Eldership must mem1￿rS ofthe church and have Eeen so for at least one
year. Election of Elder3 takes place at the church's Annual General Meeting in October. Whilst no
fornial training is give￿ as Tnrt Elders are encouraged to take advantsge of such trustee training
oppoitunities as are available. Trust￿$ receive no remuneration ill resp￿ of their duties but are
reimbursed for expenses prO￿ty incurred in the course of their work.
Objeelives and activi
Since I" July 2019, Havant and Fmsworth United Reftirnied Church (the Church) has opei*ing
under the t¢rn]s of 'Y)ne Church on Two Sites". enabling the congregations in the towns of Havant
and Effjsworth to contillue their separate WOTship and outreach activities but with admiillstration
being carried out &s a single entity from HavanL The WO￿ of the Church is mainty ¢entred in the area
bounded by the Borough of Havan( maintaining pastornl links with other churche4 both United
Refornied and other denominations within a ten-mile radius of the Borough. Regular public worship
for all is provided at the church buildings in Havant and Emsworth (the churchesl promoting th¢
Christian fait￿ providing trdiniD& nurture and activities for children and young people, serving the
community. giving pastoral care and support to manbffs and others in ll¢￿ particularly those in
sickne4 distress, povety and b¢r¢avemenL The churthes also provide premises and r¢sourL%S for
community groups and athitses. The TrUst￿S believe they have iJ)dividually and collectively
complied with the duty imp)sed by section 4 of the Clwtties Act in having due ryard to guidance
published by the Charity CoJDmission in T¢S￿Ct of worship for the public benefiL
Achievements and perfornL2nce
As in previous years, the Church is currentty without a minister, and visiting preachers have continued
and will continue to lead worship at both Havant and F￿}swOrth. This wes the congregation a
variety of voices and viewp)ints in the promotion of Cbristian Faiity and enables the Church to
provide regular public Wo￿lp for all. The Church is also bl¢&sd with a numbff of lay pr&whers and
a retired minister who gTaciousty give of their time.
In April 2024, Reverend Tim Clarke's term as the Church's tnterim Minith came to an end.
Reverend Clarke's interim ministy commenced in the autumn of 2022 as an intentional missional
process to help the Church through a time of change and trdnsition in between ministrieA. From the

witness. The Church Meeting expressed its gratefiil thanks for his work in helpitig the church
through some ditricult issues IA the eighteen Allonths of his pttsell¢¢.
As wiithiunitat¢d in last yeat's repo¢ thè Wessèx Synod of thc United Reforn￿d chU￿h looked at
thc Gr¢ation of a Solent Cluster of chutch¢5 in thc 'South East Rcgion. of thc Wc55ex Synod. The
suggcstion was for a small number of mini5ta3 to bc deployed across the Solent Clustcr. This has
be¢n taken forward with enthusiasm by the delegates of the six churGhes In the Cluster tijrough th¢
meetings through the year to develop the fixmeworf( fot the ÈhurcliÈs to work together. This l¢d to the
productioti of a profile of thé eltsster that was sént out to miiiistcrs to garÉiet ititetest iii leading the six
churches. As a rEsulL there was a 'Preach with a View. iv¢¢kend in July 2024 where a ¢andidate led
services artd Met VA'th church mefftbers. Unfortunat¢ty, this weekend did not result iti a ¢allitig. The
Cluthr ivill cofititlllé its séarch for its" firs1 iiiitilster..
The Church Meeting made the ditficult decisiort to cease its regular sttvices of worship at thg
Ethsworth ehutch building with" effect from 3 1st December 2024: Thè Church gave thanks to God for
the wotship, Inissiort and iilitsiffj that hag been assotiated with the Eth8%vorth chiirth builditt& and
asked the Wessex Synod of the-united Refornied Church to make tht necessary arrangements for its
closure,
In addition, thé Church continucy to undertaké the fvllowing a¢tivitirs: _
a Baby Oroup for car¢r5 with babies up to one year old.
A project that éAieourtged membtrs to fiitithaisè for the tharity -mission Aviatloti
Fellowship". who are serving together. by thè love of ChnsL to bring help. hope, aod healing
to ibolated people iti the World tbrougii aviAtioi By the end of thé fitiwicial yeat £1,120 had
bèén ciillécted. Nots that th¢ prcvioiis church ptojéct for thc -second Ch￿Ice, charity
concluded at the end of 2023 with a cheque for £1.450 bBing to thé charity.
"Snack and Chae, gathcring OD Saturday morning5 offtring hot soup artd coffee5 for a
donation and the Monday F¢llowghip group continues to provide kmuch-needed friendghip.
Friday coffee mornitigs at Em8WOrth Continu￿ to be well attended to offer support to the
curnmunity, and considcration is king givcll on how thi5 can continuc aftcr to closure of the
Emswortb Church building.
The church is looking forward positi'vely to the futur4 as a people of possibility proclaiming the good
news of Jesus An word and in deed around Havant and Émsworth.
Flnancial Revltw
The ordinary activities of the Church in the year resulted in a sury)lus of £14,597. A mqior income
itèm in the yeat was £42,000 iii illwestricted legatit8 froiii théthbtrs who remett)bered the Chut¢h ift

But we also acknowledge that death is a transitson from our earthly ljfe to our eterna"I life wrth God in
heaven. This gives us hope and comfort during tunes of loss.
However, thÈrÈ wer¢ a nUth￿r of ¢osts that have to be iti¢urrEd as w¢ll, iti¢luding th¢ r¢gular
paythents to the Ministy and Missiott (M&M) Futtd of the ¢¢tttrdl United Refotthed Chut¢h, The
URC Fitiance Conmiittee have expressed thanks to Our church for meeting the M&M req￿Itement iti
full. In additiofy the church buildings still required repair4 ￿￿intEnance and &￿etsking.
The Church is bl¢ss¢d with (xsh and ¢thI￿ inv¢stsn¢nts to ¢nSU￿ that it can meet its objeotives and
continu¢ its activities for years to come. The objective of having T¢S￿v¢s equivalent to SOO/0 of the
Church's annual expenditure has been achieved. Nevertheless, the Elders will continue to èxercise
VI￿1all¢e over expendAture.

matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be WUAred m an audit,
and consequently no opmion is ￿'Ven as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view, and the
