The Irustees who are also directors of the charity for the purposes of tlie Coinpanies Act 2006. present their
report witli tlie fiiiaiicial statements of the charity for the year ended ?9 February 2024. The Irustees have
adopted the provisioiis of Accounlingy aiid Reporting by Charilies: Statement of Recommended Practice
applicable lo charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard appl icable
in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective l January 2019).
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Wrenihorpe Coinmuiiity Association Limited provides the Village Hall and Valley Crescent Community Centre
for ihe use of the residents of Wrenihorpe and surrounding areas.
Tlie objective of ihe charitable coinpany is to provide and Inaintain these preinises. and improve ihe conditions
of life for Ilie beneficiaries and offer equal opportunities lo all.

ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
The lasl year l)as been increasingly busy with lettings to groiips growing in nuinbers and many requests for
parties at tlie weekends.
We cater for all ages and abilities and a wide range of varying groups. We publislied a full list in our
Wreniliorpe Matters newsletter. It includes various exercise classes. children's maths and Engl ish tutoring, baby
massabye sessions, a coinmuiiity choir. groups for uklilele. reader5, ladies Ineelings. bible study. indoor bowls,
and culiural educalion t.or chi Idren as well as a tea dance, country dancii)g and a gardening club There is also a
variet}i of one oty events and meelings.
Our newsletter is produced 3 times per year and delivered to every house in Wrenthorpe by a team of volunteers.
At both venues we work hard to keep lip witli the maintenance and growing rules and regulations. Legionella
and asbestos i nspections. Portable Appliance lesling? and cleaningy of the extractor fans have all been completed.
Despite rising prices we are trying to keep costs down and be aware of environmental issues. We are pleased to
liave been successful in our bid to Wakefield Council for funding from West Yorkshire Cornbined Authority's
Cominuiiity CliinalL Granls pro￿aMIne. This will enable us lo install solar panels. A contract lias now been
agpreed to pul tlie panels oli ihe roof ot. the vi IlagTe lial l. Our long)er term plans are to updale the kitLlicn and are
working on a 5 year plaii to idenlify how to further improve facililies.
I mproveinents this year include:
The village mosaic trail has been admired by many people.
Users of the vi I lag?L hall appreciate tl)e safety and ease of parking from the new warden conlrols.
The vi I labyc hal I now has an internal delibri I lator and a teain of trdiiied vol unteers
Sinart Ineters liave been installed
ThL Wr¢n Cat"e now has 5 leams of volunteers and is used as a community contact venue by community police.
NHS and Wakefield Council,
We lield a very succc55ful and enjoyable Coronation Tea altended by 74 people aged 74 or older. The King and
Queen attended in photographic forni!
The annual Christmas lunch was again successful wilh a visit from Santa and a memory lane magician.
The amazing Wrenthorpe Gala was held in June. the weather was kinder than the previous year.
In January we had a Ihank you invitalion event in the village hall for all the volunteers who work so hard to
make Wrenihorpe a success and a great place to live.

STRUCTURE, COVF.RIYANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Governing document
The charity is controlled by its memorandum and articles of association and constitute5 a limited company,
limited by guarantee, as defined by the Companies Act 2006.
Wrenthorpe Coininunity Associatioii Liiniled was created in 2009 as a company limiled by gLtaranlee and as the
SULcessor lo Wi'eiitliorpe Coininuiiity Association. li is a registered cliarity,
Meinbers SLlPPOrt the aims of the organization and are invited to the Annual General Meeling. Members eleci the
trustees or membcrs of the managieineni committee and ihese individuals are also company directors. In the event
of Il)e charitable coinpany beingF wound up. members are reqiiired to contribLlte an amount not exceeding £ l. As
al 29th February ?024 tliere were 66 Inembers of whom 9 were Irustees and 2 user group members.
Recruitment and appointment of new trustees
The directors of tlie charitable company are also charity Irustees for the purposes of charity law and, under the
company's Articles. are known as trustees.
As set out in the Articles of Association the Board of trustees should consist of a minimum of six and a
maxiinum of twelve trustees. A third of trustees shall stand down for re-election at eacli Annual General
Meeting.
