In addition co the Health and Safety Policy, we also have a spectfic policy for the evacuation of a church in an emergency.
Thts covers all three of our parish churches.
Tht churchwarden5 have day to day responsibility for implementing these policies, overall responsibility lies with Pat

Objectives and Activities
Thls year the PCC has continued ¢0 work on delivering the planned action outlined in our Mi$5ion Atti￿ Plan IMAP), a
copy of which was circulated and discussed at the APCM in 2021
In particukdr we have focused on=
Ensuring that ocro$s the porfsh there Is a balance of more traditional and modern serylces ond thot
there ore opportunltles for fttmllies to woJYhiP.
With this in mind two new Sunday afLernoon serwices have been introduced this year. There is now a'songs of praise,
$eNce at Wo¢dmancote on the first SuF)day of the month, and a family friendty 5errfice at S¢ Peter'5 Henfield on the third
Sund2y.
Enriching our worship through music. Music is an integral part of our Worship and having appointed both a
Choir Director and Organist in November 2021, our alm w>s to re-Èsrablish 2 choir.
After a few ye3rs without a choir, a regular choir started singing togerher in Seprernber 2nd now sings at tsne gr more
regular servlees each month a5 well a5 'special' services. Work to establish both a Children's choir and Youth choir is
underway, and we hope that this may be possiblo In the near future. Not only does chis enrrith our worship but also
provide$ 2n opporruThlry for people {who may not be regular ehurch goers) to 8et Snyolved and play an acclve parr in the
seNce through the music.
Ensuring our three churches are fit for Purpose i.e. are all well-IiL warm. and watertigho and hive basic
faciltties like a toileL This goes hand ITr hand with worship and our iJe5ire co encouTrge more people into our three
churches. Our aim has been to complere some of our major Pro1￿1$ tha¢ were delay¢d by the p2ndemic. The

The installation of low lighting 21ong the footpath was due to be inStal￿d in November but wa5 delayed

particularly during the winter months. The new signage wll be in

church.
Toilet facilitles ot Shermonbury.
The project to build a stnall acce$5ible toilet at St Giles,

been done to a very high standard.
This will benefit noc only Ihe regular congregation but also those

be necessary
to hire in toilet facilicies.
Connerting with people not only in our churches but in the school and in the communlty. The PCC
recognises ¢hp. value ol the church Coming together with local 8roups to work together for the benefit of others. With
limited resouKes this if often 8 more powerful and sustainable oprion than working in isolaLion. Tlirough this type of
dlscipleshlp we can represent le5U5.
This wa5 che approach taken In Mayi when the church met with a number of key organisation in the village to co-
ordinate th¢ suppon lor Ukrdinian réfugèps in the tommuni¢y. One of the initial tasks thac we undeirook wa5 to host
Sacurday caffee morning for sponsors and their Ukrainian guests. so as to enable people to meet and as an opportunity
to ask our guests what support they needed.
Working toward o more Eco frlendly church. We aim ¢0 be IV￿re 'eco' both in terms of reducing carbon
emissions (in line with the Church of England fdrgeL of netc zero by 2030} but also more generally by implemendng

promotion of regular givingi donacion5 and legacies etc. We rely heavily on the money tdndly donited by our

In 2022 a contactless donation device wa5 installed in the church at Henfield to facilrate giwng. The PCC also agreed
a Legacy Poliey which will hopefully allay any lears that people may have about leaving a legacy to the thurch. New
YoluHceers came forward to help with the LTttle Fishes group and the BereavemEnT Support Group, and many people
from all three churches helped with rwo of our mwn fundraising events.. the church fete and the Garden 2nd Arts

investment will be for be￿een 5 2nd 10 years.
At the begnning of 2021, the PCC agreed an investment pc4icy which ha5 been prepared wich reference to the Charity
CommiSs￿n'S recommended 8uldance, 'CharitlÈs, and InvÈsDTr)ènt M2ttÉrs: A guide for rrustees.,
The PCC believes that the best types of investments for its purposes ire held by investmellt companie.s whose funds
cover a wide range of asset cPasses. Such mulri-asset funds gener211y include Equitie5, Bonds, Property and Cash. The
PCC believes that to re2lise its abjectives using in a multi-asset pooled ￿nd, for example that offered by the CCLA
Investmenr Fund or M&G Nulti Asset Fund for chlrities, in whlch many Church of Englxnd Parishes invest, would meet
its investment requirements. Such funds are usually a150 low eosL arÈ simple to administer as they délegat& the diy-
to-day investment decislons to the fund m2n2ger, and already operace within an established ethical framework. Th¢y
generilly promde lonx term capital growth as well as income. The PCC operates 2n ethitrdl tnvestment policy that
follows the guidance of the Church of Englalhd's Ethical Investment Advi
or
IEIAGI The ethical investment
policies recommended by the EIAG are the basis for a distinctly Chrisrian approach tg investment and the PCC'S
invesiments, are in line with that guidance.
Polne Endowment
For many years, the value of the Paine EndowmenL a Stipend Tru5L has been included in our balance sheeL
Originally, the income from (his investment would have been paid to the Parish of St Peter's Church,
Henfièld. BUL since the Endowment and Glebe Measure of 1976. when responsibility for payment ofstipcnds
vras transferred to the Diocese of Chichester, we now neither receive any dividends nor would we be
entiiled ta any of the capital if it were ever possible to realise 1¢
Continued inclusion of the value of the Paine Endowment in our 2ccounts Mi￿1t, therefore, be thought
misleading. For this reason and followng advice from both the Diocese and our accountants {Taylorcocks),
the PCC ha5 decided to remove thi5 endowtnent from our balance sheet as at 31 December 2Q22.
Future Plans
2022 vras 2 year when the PCC 2nd Church Wardens were able to deliver on nyany of the projecrs ihac the Coronavirus

After a year of la￿e capital expenditure the PCC will review our fhnances and wll plan for how we might increase income
and reduce expenditure. The PCC will however plan the work identthed by our Inspetting Archicecc In the Quinquenni21
