2. Structure, governance and management
The governing document of Yeovil Vineyard Church is the Charitable Trust Deed which is dated 30 January 2009.
The methods adopted for the recruitment and appointment of new trustees are at the sole discretion of the trustees of Yeovil Vineyard Church.
3. Financial Review:
Our aim is to keep a Contingency fund of 15% of our annual income. We do not have a formal policy on the reserves that is to be enforced but aim to keep the funds of the church in a good state.
Other financial controls are in place requiring the trustees to make decisions about spending any reserves and big amounts that may be required. A limit is set at £2,000 so that any amount larger than this would require the trustees’ approval. We also have a budget approval process whereby the trustees review and agree the proposed budget spend for each year.
It is our aim never to be in deficit on our recurring costs and we have every intention to keep it that way.

4. Funds held as custodian trustee on behalf of others
Yeovil Vineyard Church and its trustees are not acting as custodian trustees and do not hold any assets in this capacity.
5. Public benefit statement
Yeovil Vineyard Church is governed by its Charitable Trust Deed that clearly outlines its objects as a charity and the duties/authority of trustees of the charity. We are dedicated to adhering to the laws, rules and regulation that govern us as a charity and as a church.
We believe that everything we do is in the best interest of the public and community we serve, and we seek to take due regard to any guidance the Commission publishes, as well as other organisations that serve charitable trusts and churches in general.
1. Objectives and activities
The Objects of the Church are for the benefit of the public:
To advance the Christian faith in accordance with the Statement of Beliefs in the Schedule hereto attached in such ways and in such parts of Yeovil, Somerset, the United Kingdom or the world as the Trustees from time to time may think fit;
to relieve sickness and financial hardship and to promote and preserve good health by the provision of funds, goods or services of any kind, including through the provision of counselling and support in such parts of Yeovil, Somerset, the United Kingdom or the world as the Trustees from time to time may think fit.
The Trustees must use the income and may use the capital of the Church in promoting the Objects.
2. Achievements and performance
a. Giving
Yeovil Vineyard Church has a target of giving 10% of our income towards supporting other charities and organisations. This year we have given towards the following organisations:
Vineyard Churches UK Supporting Vineyard churches in the UK & Ireland. Piemonte Vineyard Support for Church Planting in Italy. Yeovil CAP Centre Working in Yeovil for relief of poverty with debt advice and life skills. Medair A Christian humanitarian organisation that responds to conflict, disease and disasters. St James’ Church Working in the North West of Yeovil sharing the good news of Jesus.
b. Achievements
We continue to meet on Sundays at the Abbey Community Centre, a great value resource in the local community. Whilst it has limitations in breakout rooms, the team have been incredibly creative to provide activities and teaching in aspects of practical faith for our children and young people.
We introduced a café church service form July 2023, providing a space to get breakfast and connect as well as introducing those new to coming along to some of the aspects of our service and more importantly our faith in Jesus. Attendance at this has been high and we have been people able to invite friends and family.
The Vineyard Centre, is proving to be a great space for gathering people together, including worship and brayer nights, prayer meetings, Alpha courses if people want to come in person. Use of this has increased as a place for people to connect with others, grow and heal.
Our youth use this venue for the Friday night gathering called ‘The Bridge Café’. This is open to 12-18 year-olds, to come and hang out, play games and have fun together. It is a positive space and feedback from parents and young people is that it is really appreciated and they love to come. Attendance at this has grown to between 15-20 young people.
A trip for teenagers to the Vineyard Churches UK&I national DTI (Dreaming The Impossible) festival was also arranged and well attended. A fun and significant time was had by all, with several young people deeply inspired to follow Jesus.
The worship ministry has developed with opportunity for people to develop their musical gifts to help facilitate sung worship in numbers of our meeting environments.
Core Groups are a key part of Yeovil Vineyard and 3 groups continue to provide a safe place for people to share life with each other, to encourage one another in faith, provide practical support, prayer and study of the bible. Core groups content is based around Community, Opportunity to grow in gift, Relationship with God and others and Encounter with the presence of God.
Papas Pantry has continued to be a vital part of the life of the church. People give regularly and generously to support people within our community finding things hard financially. This can happen for various reasons but the short term support this offers has made a real difference. We have seen the leadership of this ministry change this year and have been so grateful for the input of Jeanette Morrisey and Rachel Gale who have served for a number of years supporting many people.
Tim and Nicola Baker have completed their first year as senior pastors. The church continues to go from strength to strength despite some challenges.
The membership of the trustees remains unchanged, with an ongoing search for additional trustees.
Matt Stent, our Worship and Operations Pastor and only employee, tendered his resignation in March, which has allowed us to think about restructuring of our employees for the next financial year.
Financial giving this year has increased with regular giving but and also some generous one-off gifts. This has left the charity in a healthier financial position than in previous years. With this and the changes in employment we are looking at being able to employ our senior pastors in a part-time capacity.

The leadership team would like to thank all the individuals who have been serving over the last year to develop and facilitate our gatherings as we grow a community to Love God, Love People and Transform the World.
