Aim and Purposes
New Virtuosi was established in 2009 with the purpose of nurturing a new generation of talented young musicians. Its activities are specifically intended for music students aged 10 - 22.
Objectives and Activities
New Virtuosi is committed to the advancement of the education of talented young musicians through the provision of training, giving those young musicians the confidence and skills to perform in public. It is also committed to the advancement of the accessibility of classical music to the public, in particular by organizing public performances.
To facilitate its objectives, New Virtuosi activities include:

International Mastercourses
Directed to aspiring young musicians, the Mastercourses are providing the opportunity to enrich their professional and social life through meeting and sharing musical experiences with peers from around the world.

In 2023, New Virtuosi organized International Masterclasses at St Edward’s School, Oxford.
The Oxford Mastercourse took place on April 10–16 2023 at St Edward’s School, Oxford, UK.
Altogether, 24 exceptionally talented youngsters from around the world participated in the mastercourse, guided by 13 faculty members. Six concerts, all open to the general public and free of charge, were presented at Ogston Music School at St Edward’s and the Gala concert was perfoed at St James’s Church Piccadilly. The Mastercourse also involved six masterclasses and lectures, similarly held at the Concert Hall.
During the Mastercourse, students received individual lessons from internationally renowned violin and piano performers and pedagogues. They also participated in masterclasses, played solo with the New Virtuosi String Ensemble and together as an ensemble. They had numerous opportunities to perform in public concerts. The intensive tuition and concerts, combined with the recreational facilities created an ideal environment for significant progress and the artistic development of each student. The participants, were offered Dalcroze classes, as well as additional lessons from experienced supervised practice instructors, helping them to optimize their practice time and to better prepare for the lessons and concerts.

Public masterclasses
During the masterclasses, the students received intensive tuition from internationally renowned performers and pedagogues. Being open to the general public, the masterclasses uncovered the magic process of music making. Altogether, 5 public masterclasses and lectures were offered to the New Virtuosi students.

The discrepancy between the donations, expenses and the final bank balance are due to advanced payments made from funds not connected to New Virtuosi (later returned) and the detailed expenses, as well as currency change rates (variable over the 12 months).

Structure, Governanace and Management
New Virtuosi Charity is governed by the Board of Trustees. The Trustees are responsible for making decisions on all matters of general concern and importance to New Virtuosi including how the funds of New Virtuosi are to be spent.

Independent Examiner’s Report to the trustees of New Virtuosi Charitable Trust
I report on the accounts for the year ended 31[st] December 2023 which are set out on page 2&3.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year (under section 43(2) of the Charities Act 1993) (the Act) and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to:
examine the accounts (under section 43 of the Act),
to follow the procedures laid in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 43 (7) (b) of the Act), and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner’s report
My examination was carried out in accordance with General Directions given by Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner’s statement
In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in, any material respect, the requirements: To keep accounting records in accordance with section 41 of the Act, and to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 1993 Act, have not been met, or

to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
