The Parish is a part of the Church of England, in the Diocese of Chester, located in the Deanery of Cheadle. STrUCTURE GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT CONSTITUTION The Parochial Church Council IPCCI is a corpornte body established by the Church of England. The PCC operates under the Parochial Churth Council Powers Measure. The PCC meetings were also conducted in person with a hybrid zoom component for clinically vulnerable member5 to enable participation. 2022 was a year of change-. after 5 years working diligentty in the parish Rev Christopher Hobbs decided to retire and he and Margaret left in April 2022. Fortunatety, the interregnum was only 6 months, and thanksgo to Chrtstopherfs detailed planning, the warden5. our readers Peter Budd and Geoff Cooke, and dergy Peter Selby and Nick Feist who between themselves took on most of the work until the post of vicar was filled. The vacancy was advertised, andwe were pleased towelcome Rev Mark Pickles and his wrfe Diane to the parish. He was inducted on 23.10.22 by Bishop Sam, and his appointment has proved to be a great encouragement to both our churches, and we look forward to working closely wi(h them in the future to grow our witness and work in the parish. During November and December Mark preached at both churches an introductory 5ertes looking at the marks of a healthy church from Arts 2. At Emmanuel the year has been marked by regularweekly than8es in the leaders and Preachers in the rota each Sunday. mostty brought about by the interregnum. The variety of preaching 5tyle5 make5 for interesting listening. Number5 are slowly going up as people have begun to feel more confident mixing wtth others after the lockdown. Toward5 the end of the year we began to investigate the possibility of Emrnanuel havin8 a part-time minister based at this end of the parish.

Home groups open to members of both thurthes tontinued to meet fortnight￿ during the year studyingcorinthians in the 5prin& Proverbsin the summerterm. and Cofossian5 in the autumn term. Emmanuel also has a ladies. group and a Senior Seekers group meeting fortnightty. Weekly prayer meetings continued by zoom for both churches. Sodal and outreath Through the year both churches worked c105ely together on many projects for thurch and communf(y. Emmanuel hosted a coffee morning to rnise funds for The Message and 3 popular Quiz with Supper n¢ght in old of Tearfund . We celebrated the Queens's jubilee ￿ June by showing the servti on the bi8 screen in St Andrew'5 With cakes and the next day we had a bring-and-share lunch. There was a picn￿ in the summer for both churches. The Way in Café open5 every Monday moming in the foyer at St Andrew5 and thank5 80 to T￿vOr Klmm and Ang Baxter for their dilt8ent service. In September we raised over £5rxi for Macmilkn by hostin8 a coffee morning in the Way In Cafe with a vast display of cakes. The Light trail was the b￿est event in 2022, spear-headed by Josh Baxter and Ruth DrLSry and a team of enthusiastic supporters from both thurches. wfth work beginnin8 in July and culminating in a full week event in December. This was 3 suc￿ssful event on many levels most importantly helping to Te-e5tablish excellent links with our local primary schools and the local community in general. Near￿ ￿ people vis¢ted the trail, and our Christmas sery1￿$ were publicized. It showed what we can do as a parish when we all work together: many remarked on how enjoyable it was to be part of th￿ and the contacts made with our community are provin8 useful. A numberof minor repairs were carried out in the year. The major works were to UP8rade the Ivdhts in the churth. hall and coffee lounge to more energy efficient fittings. The Quinquenntal Report was due this year. but backlogswith the suTheyors dueto Covid lockdowns means that the visit to inspect is programmed for early 2023. It is anticipated that a number of minor repairs will be necessary. Anticipated major repairs are overhaul of the hall roof and painting of the tower. Vlsltlngteam The visiting team consists of a small group who endeavour to reach out to anyone in the congregation who is in need. Theyvisit those in tsre homes and the housebound, and try to support and encourage anyone who needs help. This may invO￿e regular visits over a considerable period, other visits may be needed only once or twice. They also try to be aware of any reguLar church memberwho h35 not been for a few weeks and contactthem to make sure they are well. Theyappreciate that many membersof our fellowship vi51t people and thi5 is a great help. If anyone does this please let them know to avoKI the sriuation where one person has several visriors and another may not receive any. They meet regular￿ with Mark to exchange news of those visited. to pray for them and to assess If anyone ebe needs help and support. Flnances This year our regular income wa5 once again signrficantly boosted by generous one-off donattons- many ofthem 8rft-aided, which helps even more. These included twofurthergifts in memory of Olga Hayward. a donation of the cost of fitting LED lights throughoutst Andrew's church, and a one- off gfft in support of the Children'5 and Families Worker. These offset reductions in both regular giving and letting income Ithe former tenants left the Emmanuel house and this was not re-let so that it was avaiLable forthe new minister). Regular donations also included support of the Children's and Families Worker, although most are for general running costs. Church and hall lettings income continues to recover after covid, especially at Emmanuel. Expenditure at St Andre¥rfs was higher this year than Last, partly due to having the Children's and Families Worker in post forthe full year. partty due to the investment in LED light5 in church. and of

Emmanuel expend￿Ure was similarto last year, with having no minister to support. but also induded h￿her utility costs. Overall St Andrew's covered costs, which was better than had been budgeted. Meanwhile Emmanuel income sEnrficantl¥ ex￿eded expendr(ure, giving a balance whith will be used to support the new minister. Looking forward into 2023 we are delighted that this positive finanoal result perniits the appointmentof a second salaried minister, although we are conscious that the associated additional costs, the drop in rental income. and the downward trend in regulargNing all present us with challenges longer-term. We are also aware of the wider pressures on individuals, finances at this time, but hope and pray that devek)pments in the ministry of the parish will lead to increased givin8 and make us more sustainable. As a Parish we look forward in faith to furthering our links with the bcal communty and encouraginggrowth under Rev Pickles, leadership. It was a joy to welcome local schoo15 back to the church for theircarol services On￿ again, post-covid. There are many actNities which take place at St Andrew's and Emmanuel on a regular basis and the PCC recognises all the work that Is done and is extremely grateful forthe continued contributions made by all those invofved.
