Financial Review
Total income in 2025 was £200,603. The plann￿ gM￿j through envekjpes and stan(liw orders incre&ed by
£2.702. Tota tr￿e was co￿derablY hig1￿ in 2024 mainly as a result of a legacy a large donation
which, together, aMOurt￿ to £25,0￿. Income Yds in 2025 by a sEeabte proceth f
letting the wemises.
£193,024 was Sp￿tt to provFde the Christian ministy from Sl. Peterfs Church, indudirKJ the contiibutK)n to the
di(Trsan parish share (£97,700) wh￿h increas&J by 3.3% in the year and which enables mission ministry
to be provided across our diocese. The sum ttHt the churcFR9 in the dioc£se are asked to is calculated
according to a fornula that is based mainly on the number of people in the ￿hipping communty. No
significant tnajor repair works were carried 4JJt in the year. Expenses were generdly within budget except for at
the Burial Ground due to the theft of a rid&on nM)wer. This was party recovered by an Insuran￿ claim.
£50,000 towards the 20Z2 carpark twecl was loaned to the PCC by the Di(wE of Exeter, to te repatd in
instalments over ten years. Permits to we now paid for by donatK)rts from regular church atterth.
These donations, together with gift aid now cover the cost of interest ￿d loaTF repayments.
The surplus of income over expenthwe bth takÉw acco(rt of investsnw& perkn￿ was £7,579. S(Kne
investment unts were required to tE sold to SUFPOrt cashkn duritKJ the year. There vas a decrease in market
value of investments of £5,843 in line with globa m&kets.
The net result for the yew wa8 a surplus of income over expenditure of £1,410. Adthng reseryes br(wght
forward at the beginning of the year, the ba[an￿ carrigJ forward at 31 Decemt*F 2025 fotalled £158,582.
£46,892 of this is carried fcfward in destgnated fijnts for fabric repairs, youth &ttvits'es, music and training.
£3,084 is held in restricted fU￿ts for church and for hardship supp)rt for the needy.
Expenses were close to budget levels in 2025. The overall perf0nnan￿, just better than bTea*verL was only
achieved as a result of the legacy and large donation menlioned ab)ve. However, i)ur continuing eX￿$S of
routine expenditure over routine irwme still ￿dS to be addressed. Fundraising and the level of regular,
repeating income must be rev￿Wed and nwst be increased rf the ministy from St Peter's is to continue as it is
at present We cannot reFy on legacies and tnvestment makets to tx)￿ter reserve& A stewardship campaign ts
being planned in 2026 and WFII be carried ￿ unlil the financ£s are on a stable frx)ttng.
