Dear Charities Commission,

Subject: Annual Update for 2023 - Camberley Judo Club 1130119

As the Head Trustee of Camberley Judo Club, I am pleased to provide you with an overview of our activities and achievements throughout the year 2023. This year has been significant for our club as we have navigated various challenges and celebrated numerous successes, all while remaining committed to our mission of promoting judo and supporting our community. Financial Overview: Profit and Loss Statement

In 2023, we experienced a mixed financial landscape. Despite the ongoing challenges posed by rising utility costs and economic uncertainties, our financial management has allowed us to maintain stability. Our income from membership fees, fundraising events, and community sponsorships totalled £217,767.21, while our expenses reached 200,746.65. This resulted in a net profit of £17,020.56. We are actively seeking ways to improve our financial position, including the proposed installation of solar panels to reduce energy costs.

Trustee Meetings and Governance

Throughout the year, we held regular trustee meetings to ensure effective governance and strategic planning for the club. Our meetings focused on reviewing our financial health, discussing community engagement initiatives, and planning for future growth. We are proud to have a dedicated team of trustees who are passionate about judo and committed to fostering a supportive environment for our members.

Community Engagement

One of our core values is to give back to the community. In 2023, we organized various outreach programs, including free judo workshops for local schools and community groups. These initiatives not only promote physical fitness but also instil values of discipline, respect, and teamwork among participants. We also collaborated with local charities to support families in need, ensuring that judo remains accessible to everyone, regardless of their circumstances. We worked with Surrey Active to deliver free schools meals camps at Easter and in the summer holidays. We delivered cooking classes in the October half term. We also delivered at Cordwalles school, PE lessons, through the Together fund. Worked closely with Camberley Rotary and Innerwheel. The club also delivered Womens fitness lessons weekly for free.

Performance

In 2023 we have managed to produce national champions and medallists at every age group through cadets, juniors, seniors and veterans.

This has meant that members of Camberley judo club have earned places on the England, Scotland and Great Britain national teams.

Their hard work has not only brought pride to our club but has also inspired our even younger members to pursue their judo aspirations. We are committed to providing them with the necessary support and training to help them achieve their goals. Olympic Qualification

We are particularly proud of our athletes who have been working diligently towards Olympic qualification for Paris 2024. Most of our Great Britain athletes are selffunded athletes and this is supported by sponsorship and fundraising. This reflects with our turnover increase. This year, our judokas participated in national and international competitions, showcasing their talent and determination. Having earned status as the first ever Commonwealth Judo Association training hub we are also very proud of all the Commonwealth athletes training at the club from countries such as Australia, New Zealand and Jamaica.

In conclusion, 2023 has been a year of resilience and growth for Camberley Judo Club. We have three athletes in direct qualification for Paris 2024. We remain dedicated to our mission of promoting judo, supporting our community, and nurturing the next generation of athletes. As we look to the future, we are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and are grateful for the ongoing support from our members, trustees, and the community.

Thank you for your continued support.

Warm regards,
