in wheelchair rugby and thrive through it. The following report outlines key areas of progress and highlights
the milestones achieved between in the financial year ended 31 March 2025, with the outlook for the financial
year ending 31 March 2026.
Performance
We were pleased to deliver a second wheelchair rugby event in Cardiff, hosting the 2024 Quad Nations at the
Sport Wales National Centre. The USA, Japan, and France joined Great Britain for three days of intense
competition in preparation for the Paralympics. Japan emerged as the overall winners, followed by the USA
in second, GB in third, and France in fourth.
The GB team’s fourth-place finish at Paris 2024 was disappointing in some respects, yet it fairly reflected our
current position on the world stage. It was an incredibly competitive tournament, with many matches decided
in the final minutes of the fourth quarter, a testament to the rising global standard of the sport. The GB team
can take pride in their group-stage performance, achieving three wins from three. We now return to the drawing
board, review the progress made, and set a new course towards LA 2028 with a clear aim to return to the
podium.
Commercial
‘Our commercial initiative, 28 for 28, has been successful since its launch at the end of 2023. Over the past
year, we welcomed several new partners, including LMAX, Blatchford, Science in Sport, Canterbury, The
Hartford, and Team Travel Management. These fantastic organisations join an already strong group of partners
that includes Get Kids Going!, England Rugby, Ascot, Allied Mobility, the RFU Injured Players Foundation,
and Tokio Marine Kiln.
We also welcomed Dynamik, the flooring specialist, as a partner through to 2028.
I would like to thank all of our partners for their continued support and belief in our mission and vision. Special
thanks also go to our primary funders — UK Sport, Sport England, and the National Lottery — for the significant
support they provide.
Community
Membership growth slowed this year to just 2%, primarily due to an unusually high non-renewal rate of nearly
10%. Much of this attrition was due to members ageing out of participation, as our demographic skews older,
and health-related challenges linked to disability. Our community team has improved membership tracking
and, in the coming year, we will focus more closely on understanding our membership and how to keep
individuals engaged with the sport.
We begana significant review and revamp of our coaching qualifications, a major piece of work driven by our
team, which launched in Autumn 2025. This initiative is rooted in the need to raise coaching standards at the
grassroots level — not just in terms of wheelchair rugby tactics, but also in how sessions are delivered, ensuring
they foster a positive and inclusive environment.
We continue to deliver our Allied Mobility wheelchair rugby competition where we are regularly streaming
games toa live audience. The streaming has been well received by the membership and we will look to improve
the quality of both streaming and game presentation as we continue to improve our commercial prospects. Our
relationship with Allied Mobility has gone from strength to strength with regular collaboration on social media
content, as well as ourselves and clubs attending their wheelchair-accessible vehicle exhibition days across the
