Family Life Church Report of the trustoos For the year ended 31*1 October 2024 The trustees prèsent their report and the financial statements for the year ended 31" October 2024. The trustees who served during the yeor and up to the date of this report are set out on page l. Structure, governance and management Governing document The charity's objects and regulations are regulated by on amended trust deed dated 19 September 2013 and under that documen¢ is constituted as an unincorporated association. Trustees Under the trust deed, thère must be at least 3 Trustees. A Trustee con be appointed by way of a resolution of the Trustees passed at a special meeting by o majority of the Trustees. Church Leadership The day to day running of the church is led by Ben Stirling. In October 2024, the Leadership team was expanded to include Nigel & Jane Cook and Sally Wolstenholme. None of the leaders were renumerated during this year period. Objectives and actlvities The objectives of the charity is to odvonce the Christian faith in accordance with the statement of beliets appearing in the schedule hereto in Thirsk and the surrounding area and in such other parts of the United Kingdom or the World as the Trustees may from time to time think fit. To relieve persons who are in conditions of need or hardship or who are aged or sick and to relieve the distress caused. and to promote and fulfil such other charitable purposes beneficial to the community in the said locality and in other such ports of the United Kingdom or the World as the Trustees may from time to time think fit. Activities include regular weekly services for oll ages, regular youth social events, ladies. group and mens. group. Also, care for the locol community, food hampers for the needy or lonely. children's holiday clubs and festive porties. Actively sought Grant Funding and Fundraising opportunities to finance the upgrades and maintenance to the church building. Sunday Services10'.30 a.m. weekly with visiting guest speakers. These continue to be an encouragement to all who attend and have seen a steady growth. The website and social media continues to have a great impact on the church as many pèople hava visited following seaing details online. This is also used to distribute information and liaise with other organisations. The use of social medio reels has helped to improve our presence and appeal. In October 2024, we launched a new website that is mobile friendly and traffic to the website has increased as use is easier. We continue support for missions and missionaries around the world. We facilitate other organisations to visit the church and encourage church fomily to support charities around the world. We run targeted and regular fundraising avents for missionaries. Weekly Bible Studies continue for those who want to share together in the structure of the church family. The church continues to host two weekly Bible studies.
The"Kids Church" is continuing to incorporate a full programme for all age groups and abilities. A Crèche for infants and toddlers is fully equipped. Streetlights is continuing to help in the community, ensuring the public are safe and supported on nights out and during emergencies such as flooding. Relationships strengthened with Thirsk Churches Together are continuing, with the running of several events throughout the year including the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. World Day of Prayer, Easter and Christmas 8vents. We continue to host a baby support group in connection with the other churches called Nurture. The Annual Children's parties have been hosted in the church building ond we continue to run a weekly playgroup for babies and toddlers called'seedlings,. Our fourteenth community Christmas Lunch catered for over 90 people who would otherwise spend the time alone. Many volunteers offered practical help while local organisations and businesses generously donated food and finance. We also ran a hamper nomination scheme and provided food and gift hampers to10 families in the community thot were struggling over the Christmas period. We continue to sponsor those in the church who attend various conferences and events to enable people to gain experience, knowledge and encouragement to share with the church and to strengthen their relationship with God and each other. Men's fellowship (Band of Brothers) continues meeting in the church building. Men's breakfasts continue once a month ot a local èstablishment. Ladies in Fellowship Together (LIFT) continues in the church building. Ladies. breakfosts also continues in the church building once every two months. I day ladies conference (The Well) took place and this yeor we hosted one'The Well, event. Women from all walks of life were invited to experience a day set apart for them. The church building has been used by other organisatlons for many events Including o weekly pop-up scone shop run by a local special Education Needs school. We plan to encourage growth in every orea of church life ond we have referred to the guidance contained in the Chority Commission's general guidance on public benefit when reviewing our aim and objectives and in planning our future activities.
Flnaneial Revlew The net assets of the charity have increased by £29349 from £2612 to £31961. No Petty Cash is held on site except for special circumstances but is bonked at the earliest opportunity. Reserves Pollcy There is currently no reserves policy. 'statement of trustees. responslbllltles The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees, Annual Report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice). Law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of charity and of the incoming resources and application of resources of the charity for that year. In preparing these financial statements, the trustees are required to.. Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently. Make judgements and estimates that are reosonable and prudent,. and Prepore the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in operation. The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable occuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011 and the Charity (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. Respective responsibilities of trustees qnd independent exqminer As the charity's trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts, you consider that the audit requirement of section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the Act) does not apply, and that an independent examination is neèded. It is my responsibility to: Examine the accounts under section145 of the Act- To follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act,. And to state whether particular matters havè come to my attention. Basls ol Independent examinerfs statement My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An exomination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comporison of the accounts presented with those records.
