– Annual Report M.VER 01/06/2024 31/05/2025
- (M.LHR Mission Life and Hope Restored)
A) The work in Ceará in the Northeast of Brazil
In Cariré Peace Church is growing slowly but firmly. Missionaries Izaias and Ruth have been training leaders in preaching, worship, leading house groups, lady’s groups and young people’s groups. The leaders are leading with more authority and boldness so that when Izaias and Ruth went to England for a time of giving reports to the churches, the church continued with all the activities as normal. Recently they have received another missionary couple to help for a year as they train them in how to plant church through Life Groups. This couple have focused on the Children´s Life Group which has been held in a local square in Cariré where children naturally gather to play. The children´s group which Izaias and Ruth started at the beginning of the year with 5 – 7 children, has now grown to around 20-25 children each week.
The brick factory that Izaias and Ruth started making ecological bricks has been a challenge to get men who are committed to the job of making the bricks without receiving their salary and spending it all on drink, or just not turning up because they are tired! But the construction project in itself has developed, and the factory was moved to a bigger plot of land and will hopefully be producing a lot more by the end of this year as they plan to build 18 flats on their plot of land for the elderly to live in. There are no projects yet in Cariré that include looking after the elderly, so this will be the first.
B) M.VER projects in Belo Horizonte
Christian College Life and Hope Restored has continued firm with the creche after the events of the last directorship who left the mission in some debt with the government, not having paid various government fees. Everything is now in place to reopen the Primary School in February 2026 now that all the required maintenance has been completed on the building. New ramps and handrails have been added to the ground floor for disabled students and classrooms on the second and third floors have been refurbished, and the playground and gym been repainted also with new handrails put in around it. Izaias and Ruth are very grateful for all the extra donations that have been sent in the last year to help with the debts the old directors made. The new Directors Sara and Vanderson have done an amazing job of reorganizing all the staff and keeping the school going as smoothly as possible during this difficult time. Izaias and Ruth are so grateful to now have reliable and honest staff working with them.
Mission VER sent a missionary couple from BH to work in Ceará with missionaries Izaias and Ruth to train alongside them for a year in church planting. Mission VER then hopes to send them for a year to work in Portugal.
C) M.VER Mission in Sydney Australia.
This year, Mission VER has been blessing Elevation Church Hills through missionaries Jonathan and his wife Andrea, who serve as youth pastors. Since they began serving at this church, the youth group has grown from 14 to over 48, and during this same period, the church has grown from approximately 220 to over 500 members, to the glory of God.
