**Activities:** We support, principally but not exclusively, the work of researchers in the School of Medicine of the University of Southampton by providing grants for initial studies, supporting PhD students with consumable costs, and the provision of equipment for both the laboratories in the School of Medicine and the newly opened Biomedical Reseach Unit ay Southampton General Hospital
