Fund have received an ever-increasing
number of applications from families who
have lost a loved one through murder or
manslaughter and are facing significant
hardship and trauma.
There is little doubt that the on-going cost
of living crisis has had a significant impact
on the number of applications received and
we are seeing an increasing number of
applications for help with the "basics" i.e.
food, clothing, white goods, carpets, the
many things which we as the public take for
granted.
Those Families have been referred by
Police Family Liaison Officers, the
Homicide Support Services of Victim
Support in England and Wales, and by
Support for Families Bereaved through
Crime (SFBC) of Victim Support Scotland.
In addition, ad hoc applications are
received from other organisations such as
Education, Social Work and other charities.
We have helped in the region of 180
families located throughout England,
Scotland and Wales. During the reporting
period we held a significant focus on the
children affected by murder and launched
two initiatives to help support them during
the Summer Holidays and at Xmas. Around
100 children were supported in this regard.
Several successful fundraisers were
organised by The Moira Fund e.g. our
Annual 5k Run in Queen’s Park, a
nationwide Prize Holiday Draw, a Golf Day
and more. In addition a number of informal
fund-raising events were led by victims
families who were previous beneficiaries of
Moira Fund grants.|

number of dedicated principal officers. The
trustees recognise that this structure, while
cost-effective and deeply personal,
presents potential challenges should any of
these individuals become unable to fulfil
their roles due to illness or bereavement. In
particular, one of the founding officers —
Moira Jones’s mother — is now 84 years
old, and while she remains actively
involved, the charity acknowledges the
importance of planning for future leadership
and operational resilience.
To ensure continuity, the trustees are
committed to identifying and preparing
suitable individuals who could oversee the
charity’s work and uphold its values should
the need arise. The charity continues to
receive generous support from the public
across England, Wales, and Scotland,
though it is anticipated that sustaining
current levels of engagement may become
more difficult in the years ahead.
Financially, the trustees assess that the
charity’s current reserves are sufficient to
maintain its existing level of support for at
least three years, even in the absence of
further fundraising. This provides a stable|

As the charTty's trustees. you are responsible for the preparation of the
accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011
(kne Act.).
I repx)rt in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out
under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carying out my examination, I
have followed all the applicable Direcb'ons given by the Charity Commission
under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

I have com pleted my examination. I conf irm that no material matters have
come to my attention in connection with the examination (4*k]0
disc1.) which gives me cause to believe that in, any material
respect:
