|Summary of the main<br>achievements of the charity,<br>identifying the difference the<br>charity’s work has made to<br>the circumstances of its<br>beneficiaries and any wider<br>benefits to society as a<br>whole.|Para 1.20|During the reporting period, The Moira<br>Fund have received an ever-increasing<br>number of applications from families who<br>have lost a loved one through murder or<br>manslaughter and are facing significant<br>hardship and trauma.<br>There is little doubt that the on-going cost<br>of living crisis has had a significant impact<br>on the number of applications received and<br>we are seeing an increasing number of<br>applications for help with the "basics" i.e.<br>food, clothing, white goods, carpets, the<br>many things which we as the public take for<br>granted.<br>Those Families have been referred by<br>Police Family Liaison Officers, the<br>Homicide Support Services of Victim<br>Support in England and Wales, and by<br>Support for Families Bereaved through<br>Crime (SFBC) of Victim Support Scotland.<br>In addition, ad hoc applications are<br>received from other organisations such as<br>Education, Social Work and other charities.<br>We have helped in the region of 180<br>families located throughout England,<br>Scotland and Wales. During the reporting<br>period we held a significant focus on the<br>children affected by murder and launched<br>two initiatives to help support them during<br>the Summer Holidays and at Xmas. Around<br>100 children were supported in this regard.<br>Several successful fundraisers were<br>organised by The Moira Fund e.g. our<br>Annual 5k Run in Queen’s Park, a<br>nationwide Prize Holiday Draw, a Golf Day<br>and more. In addition a number of informal<br>fund-raising events were led by victims<br>families who were previous beneficiaries of<br>Moira Fund grants.|

In<br>particular, one of the founding officers —<br>Moira Jones’s mother — is now 84 years<br>old, and while she remains actively<br>involved, the charity acknowledges the<br>importance of planning for future leadership<br>and operational resilience.<br>To ensure continuity, the trustees are<br>committed to identifying and preparing<br>suitable individuals who could oversee the<br>charity’s work and uphold its values should<br>the need arise. The charity continues to<br>receive generous support from the public<br>across England, Wales, and Scotland,<br>though it is anticipated that sustaining<br>current levels of engagement may become<br>more difficult in the years ahead.<br>Financially, the trustees assess that the<br>charity’s current reserves are sufficient to<br>maintain its existing level of support for at<br>least three years, even in the absence of<br>further fundraising. This provides a stable|

under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carying out my examination, I
