Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
All activities were based on provision of education, social and emotional support programmes for children age between 10-16 and their families. In total we have worked with 47 students. Support we provided included English and maths tutorials, pastoral support, counselling for young people and information support for parents.
Also, the young people have been given an opportunity to reflect the lockdown and the impact it has on them. These reflections presented by the young people through arts, drama and the use of media. And IT support to families of low income with laptops.
At the end of the programme all students stated that the pastoral and counselling sessions had led to improvements in their capacity to study and learn through building resilience and resourcefulness. In addition, these helped them to concentrate more in the classroom, and they feel calm, proud and happy. During the projects students consolidate their numerical and mathematical capability and developed their knowledge of mathematical reasoning and problems solving.
During last year Charnwood Learning Centre has recruited 6 volunteers who made a good contribution. We have provided the necessary and legally required training before they started their roles as volunteers
