Pastor’s Report 2021
When God gave me a strong sense in December 2019 that we would need to do church differently, I had little idea of all the implications. Well, nearly 2 years later we are still adjusting to new ways of doing church. We have needed to fully embrace online church in 2021 and MRBC folk have risen to the considerable challenges of this. For much of the year it was zoom or nothing and even now we are back in the building it is looking like the zoom option is here to stay.
I would have been very sceptical if you had told me 2 years ago that I would produce well over 100 teaching videos of various lengths in 2020/21. I would also have been a little surprised if you had predicted that I would be given a monthly opportunity to bring a thought for the day and review the Sunday papers on BBC local radio.
Many of you have been stretched in your working lives and in your daily routines and probably all of us have grieved the reduced opportunities to physically engage with each other within our church community. At the end of our church year, we are gratefully and gradually transitioning to meeting together once more in our various church activities.
The deacons have continued to look after the church building and the church finances. Penny Ivers has completed her six years stint and Chris Harratt has very sadly passed away. Chrissie Brown will be standing as a candidate to become a new deacon.
The elders have overseen the spiritual and pastoral aspects of MRBC. They are looking forward to an Away Day in Birmingham on 2 December when we hope and pray to receive new vision and direction from God.
Our administrator is now almost fully back from furlough and our family worker is engaged in multiple church activities. As we go forward into 2022, we must look to God for new inspiration and energy in all our efforts to build up the church and to reach out to the local community and beyond.
Thank you for standing with us and supporting us in many ways. May God guide and bless you and release your gifts to serve the church and bring glory to our great God.
