goveming document and the provisions of the Statement of Recommended Practice ISORPI applicable to
charities preparing their accounts in accordance ¥￿th the Financial Reportt'ng Standard applicable in the UK and

. Going concem
After making appropriate enquiries, the Truslees have a reasonable expe¢t*ion that the Charity has adequate
resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable luture. For this reason, they continue to adopt
the going concern basis in preparing the financial stslements. Further details regarding the adoption of the going
concern basis can be found in the acc¢rtJnb"ng poli¢ies.

Memorandum of Association.

of King's Church Kendal.

The Trustees have assessed the major risks to which the Charity is exposed, in particular those related to the
operations and finances of the Charity. and are satisfied Ihat systems and procedures are in place to mitigate
exposure lo the major risks.

None of the trustees has any beneficial interest in the company. Al of the trustees are membeTS of the company
and guarantee to contribute £1 in the event of a V•inding up.

King's Church Kendal is a private company limited by guarantee incorporated in England and Wales. The
registered office is The Shakespeare Centre. Yard 76. Highgate. Kendal, Cumbria. LA9 4HE.
Ac¢ounting policies
2.1 Basis of preparation of financial statem•nts
The financial statements have been prepared in accor¢Jance ￿th the Challlies SORP IFRS 1021-
Accounting and Reporting by Chanb"es". Statement of Recommended Pracbce applicable to charities
preparing their accounts in accordance Nvith the Finanaal Repo￿n9 Stsndatd applicable in the UK
and Republic of Ireland {FRS 1021 leffecb.ve 1 January 20191, the Finanaal Reporting Slanctard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 102) and the Companies Act 2006.
King's Church Kendal meets the definition of a public benefit entsty under FRS 102. Assets and
liabilities are initialty ￿OgnIsed at historical cost or transaction value unless otherwise stated in the
relevant accounting policy.
2.2 In¢ome
All income is ￿09￿15ed once the Charity has enb"Uement to the income. it is probable that the
income will be received and the amount of income receivable ¢an be rneasured feliably.
Income tsx recoverable in relation to investment income is recognised at the b.me the inveslrnenl
income is receivable.
2.3 Expendituv•
Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or construclive obligation to transfer economic benefft
to a third party, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits wll be ￿qUIred in settlement and
the amount of the obligation can be measured rdiatly. Expendtiure is classified by activity. The costs
of each activtty are made up of the totsl of di￿¢1 costs and shared costs, including support costs
involved in undertaking each acb"wty. Direct costs attribijtsble to a single acbwty are allocated directly
to that actiwty. Shared cos15 Ithich contribute to more than one aGb"vity and support costs which a
not atth"bulable to a single actimty a￿ apportioned bemeen those activibes oft a basis consistent with
the use of resources. Central stsff costs are alkxated on the basis of time spent, and depreciatson
charges allocated on the porbon of the asset's use.
Expenditure on charitable actiwti"e5 is incurred on directy undertaking the aCt$v￿"eS which further the
Charitys objectives. as as any assoaated support costs.
All expendrture is indusive of irrecoverable VAT.
2.4 Tangible fix8d assets and depreciation
Tangible fixed assets a￿ capilalised and recognised ￿en fLrture economic benefits are probable
and the Cost or value of the asset can be measured reliably.

Trade and other debtors are recognised at the settlement amount after any tfade discount offered.
Prepayments are valued at the amount prepaid net of any trade discounts due.
2.7 Cash at bank and in hand
Cash at bank and in hand indudes cash and short-lerm highly liquid investments with a short maturity
of three months or less from the date of acqui511ion or opening of the deposit or similar account.
2.8 Liabilities and provisions
Liabilits"es are recogni5ed ￿en there is an obligation at the Balance sheet date a5 a ￿sU11 of a past
event, rt is probable that a transfer of economic benefit wll be reqUI￿d in settlement, and the amount
of the 5etUement can be estimated reliaw.
Liabilities are recognised at Ihe amount that the Charity antiapates it will pay to settle the debt or the
amount it has ￿ceiVed as advanceil payments for the goods or serwces il must provide.
Provisions ale MeasU￿d at the best estimate of the amounts required to settle the obligation. Where
the effect of the time value of money is material, the prO￿$10n is based on the present value of those
amounts. discounted at the pre-tax discount rate that reflects the risks specific to the liability. The
unwnding of the discount is recognhsed in the Statement of finanrjal acbvities as a finance cost.
2.9 Financial instruments
The Charity only has finan￿al assets and financial liabilities of a kind that qualfy as basic financial
instruments. Basic financial instruments are Initial￿ recognised al transaction value and subsequently
measured at their Settlement value the exception of bank loans sthich are subsequently
measured al amorti5ed cost using the effecb.ve interest method.
2.10 Pensions
The Charty operates a defined contribution pension scheme and the pension charge ￿PreSents the
amounts payable by the Charity to the fund in respect of the year.

16. Pèn$lon Commitments
The group operates a defined contribution pension scheme. The assets of the scheme are held separately
from those of the gfOVP in an independenuy administered fund. The pension c05t charge represents
contributions payable by the group to the fund and amounted to £2,01212023 - £1.1231 were payable to
the fund at the balance sheet dale and are included in creditors.
