hisioii¢ places of wotship. The Trusi actively 5eek5 to SUPFrf)rt the upkeep of these buildings through the promotion.

Whcn reviewing the charity's objeciives and activities and future plans the trU￿etS have referred to the guidance
eontained in the Charity Commission's g¢neTal guidan¢e on public benefit.
Aehievements and performance
Once again the Festival Trust iYd5 able to produce a week Summer Fe5rival of chamber music based around a main
marquee venue and four churthes spread across the North YoTk MO0￿ National Park. The 2024 theme was E¢hos'. This
theme delved into the art of influence to explore how music re5wnd5 to IL Hurnan nabjrc has a curious tendency io echo
the pasl and a ¢ompos¢rfs gift lies in ¢apwring the ess¢n¢e of their ILmes through new expression. 811 while ihe
monumentsl shadow of hi510ry looms lar8e. To illustrate thi5 phcnomcrKJn, the Fesiival presented 14 'narraiives' _ one
per concert - that explored profound chahges and their imrnet￿ impact on the composers ￿1￿) txprtssed the world
around them.
The bulk of the summer festival took place in the Speci￿lY hired marquee in Welburn Mar)or whi¢h ¢ontinued to draw
new audiences io the range of styles and mix of composers. Other conce*ts were held In Coxwold, Danby, Las(ingham
and E￿on Bridge. Audienct fEedback continued to show a strong desire to maintain the arrangement of a main marquee
venue wilh a small number of ¢hui¢h wncerts. The Tn￿[eeS have continued w work hard on a model that is financially
sustainable to include the marquee. We conti￿U¢ to be very gratefijl to Major and MTS J Shaw for their generosity in
hosting us at Welbum Manor for hyo weeks which contributes significanily to making ihis possible. We a150 thank the
large number of voluntecrs who help with the rdnge of tssks T￿eded to cnsurc the musicians well fcd. waiered and
made to fe¢1 very welcome whilst also doing similar for our audience membets. Wr are also deeply ￿ateful to those
individuals who contributed towards the exper￿ of the marquee but Wish to rcmain aKJnynx)us.

Con¢crt attendances at the Summer Feslival were srron8 and reflected the wde variety of styles and eras of cliamber
Inusic on offer. Tick￿ income remained healthy and the Tru5t¢es ¢oniinu¢ ¢0 ensure public b¢n¢fJt by alltswiTrg
affo¥dable access to world class music in local settin8s. Our benchmarkin8 exercise showed our ii¢ket prices w¢re
arnongst the Cheape￿ for ihe rype of repertoir¢ on offer_ Also, substanlial efforts ￿re made ¢0 market and encourage
younger people to ai¢end. this includcd di5counied and free tickets. The Festival T￿51 has fiow In￿lgated a policy of
establishing a slot for a younger and emuging ensemble to perfomi is supported by The Parkknuse Awards and
The Overfield Trust.
Thcrc werc a number of eoncerts perfomied Outside of ihe main surnmcr fvstival pcriod. A Spring Concert Wds
perfomi¢d at All Saints. Kirkbyrnoorsidt whi15t in November ihere was an opportunity io produce Th¥0 eoncerts on
onxcutive evcnings. This saw a welcom¢ r¢tum io perfomiing at the Inspir¢d By... Gallery within the Danby Lodge
National Park Centr¢. This performance was as part ofthe launch of the Eeacon for the A￿. which is Lhe newly fornied
North York Moors Naiional Park Arts and Culture P2rtnetship. This olso ￿sU1¢¢d in a srnall grani bring receiv¢d frotn
the NYM Nalional Park Authority. The Festival Trust were also deli8hted to produce a fundrdisin8 concert in December
for Christ Church. Appleton-le-Moor5 which Saw perfonnances of Bach and more contemp)rary pleces.
In 2024 the Tn￿tee$ reviewed their mediumv*m financial strategy ar¥J the SUSlain8bility of thc Fesiival as an all-year
round source of activity. Donations from individuals and tntsts remain 5tTon8 and coniinue io secure ihe new operalin8
model for the summtr fesiival plus (here is likely to bt addilional resouT¢es avaklJbl¢ kn 2025126. The Trustees felt thai
Ihe charity is r￿W In a robust position to bmplernent a long-hcld desire to paid Artisiic Director role that reflect5 the
5ubstanlial arnount of time, skill and knowledge nttd¢d LO curate a festival of th¢ stsndards now king a¢hi¢ved. A5 a
result, Jamie Wal(on has retired as a Trustee at the end of the year.
Financi41 review
The charity relies on donations and grants as the main sources of income. Efforts ￿ 5crurc new funding sour¢rs have
contjnued sin¢c the ycar cnd.
Incoming resources for th¢ year were £77.153. Resour¢es expended during the year were £94.502 resulting in an overdll
ei de¢r¢as¢ in funds of £17.349.
The amounts of resetves held at the end of the yearwere £99.550. £23.99) of which is unrestyicted and £75,560 of which
is restricied.
R¢s¢rves
The trusttts have established a policy whereby a mirtimum of 5% of in¢ome should be held in reserves at all times to
cower any unforeseen expenditure.
