STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT

The Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind UK Ltd is a registered charity (charity no. 1129245) and is governed by its Trust Deed.

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

The principal activity of Charity is the prevention and relief of poverty and advancement of education.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE

The trustees have once again supported orphans in the most deprived areas of India. The orphanage is called Childrens[t ] Village so that the resident orphans do not feel like orphans. A widow is allocated to each dormitory who effectively plays the role of the mother. The 'mother' would look after the orphans just like a real mother and each morning she would get them ready and send them to the school. At the school, which is situated in the Children's Village complex, the teachers would take the role of of loco parentis - thus providing the orphans with good education in a safe and caring environment. This year 46 boys and 42 girls from the orphanage successfully completed their high school education and secured places at a number of university colleges in Gujarat.

The Children's Village continues to provide for the orphans and widows living in and around the most deprived areas of Buj and Gujarat. As a result the orphans are able to grow up as self-sufficient individuals who are making a difference in their communities.

FINANCIAL REVIEW

The charity has completed another successful year of operation and has raised a respectable amount of funds for its charitable activities. It has relied on voluntary help in administering the aid to keep costs to an absolute minimum, so that most of the funds are diverted to benefit the orphans, poor and deprived.

PLANS FOR FUTURE PERIODS

The Charity intends to continue with its activities for a further year, consolidating its base of supporters and well-wishers and then in subsequent years look towards expansion.
