This report on the accounts of the Parochigl Church Council for the year ended 31 Decembar 2023,
ich are set out on pages 1 to 10, is in respect of an examination canied out under the Church
Accounting Regulabons 2006 {°the Regulations") and S.144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 ("the 2011
Act.).

Our examination was carried i)ut in ac(￿rdanCe bmth the General Direction$ grven by the Charity
Commission. That examination indudes a review of the accounting records kept by the Parochial
Church Council and a comparison of the accwnts vrith those records. It also indudes Gonsidering any
uriusu81 items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanation5 from you as truste8S
conceTning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would
be required in an audit, and Consequently opinion is gwen as to whether the accounts present a
rue and fair view. and the retx)rt is limited to those mattets set oul in the next ststement.

We encourage people to invest in their ovm spiritual life through daity devotion, bible study, worship and
prayer for one another. Members have participated in discipleship groups, prayed together, shared
breakfast and prayer and 'spurred one anoth8r on to love and grKKJ deeds"
Mid-week Bible Study groups have continued across the parish throughout ihe year whether meeting in
person or (mline, followng different material and looking trj appty scripttjre to our lives.
We hav8 continued to support our lay leadars and give Opp￿￿nitieS for them to flourish in th8ir
ministries.
Reaching new generalions
Youth wort across the parish cC￿tinueS to grow and Ilourish. 'Fusion' and 'LKJhtbeams' groups continue
to meet with apprO￿rnate[y 70 chiklren attending across the groups each week. ,
Our dedicated voluntsers tho enable both mrd-week and SurKlay ieadership, have offered creatlve and
inspiring teaching and helped to draw the next generation doser lo Je5us...for vjhich we are so thankful.
We have built on the strong relationships with our schocAs, vth cl@rgy and chutr* members serving
as Govemors and working closèly in our mission tcyther to Ictal families. both visiting and leading
activities in schools and welcoming children and staff from local schools into the churth buildings
throughout the year for seasonal celebrations, and also the bcal Ojbs & Scouts.
The Lighthouse Centre. a partner%hip inv(Aving Lithfield DI￿ese. lfjng￿and Academy and Bucknall
Parish which seeks to support local families was 5 years okj in September.
It continues lo run parental W0￿$hopS wth parents arKI children joining together tr) complete aclNities
each half term, a weekly playgroup organised and delivered by our community and Friends ¢)f the
Lighthouse Team wth an average of 18 babiesltoddlers arKI parents each week.
The Lantem Café holds regular special events aThJ lunches where mernb￿s of our church community
come together to share lunch ￿1h the ehiklren, along with various craft and support groups tor local
famili8s and proj8cls such as 'Remini-sing . with school choir members and church community m8mb8rs
leaming old and new songs. and sharing many memories. resulting in pr￿1￿¢t￿)n of a CD and a concert
ir) St Marfs Church.
Groups for Toddlers and their parents have (x)ntinued to meet supporting young familles in their
practical, emotional and spiritual needs and are very wdl atterKling vthh a Yditing list system in opeption.
Our leens have thoroughty enjoyed cOnr￿ling Iwth the Blaze city-wide prdyer events, gathering young
Christians across the city and we have become part of Ihe Juncb'on youth network and have taken youth
lo events in Manchester.
Transfoming Communities
W8 are (x)mmitted to seeing lfves transformed in the local area and ￿11 aim to be good news to our
neighbours and friends.

We have held 2 number of events to whith our communities have been invited including celebrati￿$ for
the Coronation, a Flower Festival and Christmas Tree Festival. Christmas Lights Switch On. Communty

Due to the g8nerosity of so many volunteers, drmations and grants we have been ablg to help our

those that need it the most.

We encourage 'Trthing' as a Biblical and Spirtiual prinCi￿e arKI are committed to growing in generosty in
our stewardship.
We continue to commit to missional givirrfJ both home and abroad to trKJnour GCMI wth our tithe. During
the year we have supported The Bible Swety. UCB Radio. The Romania Shoe box appeal. The Nappy
Project, Cross Rhythms Radio Sfialion. Turkey SyTia Appeal, Macari Centre. supported local families
through our Car8 & Share Fund and Blessings Boxes to name but a few.
Throughout trbe year. peop18 gave 9enerousty of their money arKI time in vdunteering where possible for
which we are mosl grdteful.
Flnanclal Revlew
£172,518 {2022 £168,792) was spent to provTde Christian ministy from Bucknall, 1ndL￿1￿9 the
contribution to the diocesan parish share vthtch largely provides the stipends and housing for the clergy.
The sum that th8 Churthe5 in the parish have to find is shared betr￿en the Churth8s according to
formula.

Investment policy
It is our poliw to invest our excess fijnd b818nces Y￿1h the CBF Church of England Fund. The PCC'S
policy is to safely commit as much as possible to charslable objects whilst retaining sufficient funds lo
meet ongoing commitments.
Reserves policy
A reserves policy has be8n adopted to ensure that adequate funds are retained to meet ongoing
commitments. The PCC seeks to obtain surricient continuing income resources to fund its expenditures,
particJlady those that are incurred in activ￿.&$ directy related lo the work of the Church.
Safeguarding
The PCC believe they have fulfilled their duty under secti(M S of the Safeguarrling and Clergy Discipline
Measure 2016 (duty to have due regard lo House of Bishop's, guidan￿ on safeguarding children and
vulnerable adults).
Fundraising
The PCC takes il's fundraising Trsponsibililies Serious￿ and is very gr3teful to all donors
whether
regular or occasional- for their support of the church arKI church events. Whilst fIrtan￿ remain a
challenge we have also been trijty blessed.

The members of the PCC would like to thank all the volunteers vtho gtve so much of their time and
eneryy to ministry and mission across the parish arKI work so hard to make our Churthes a lively arid
vibrant community-

Our PCC consists of our Clergy team. one Lay Ministy Representative plus from each District the
Wardens, one Deanery Synod Representativ8 ar]d other members e￿cted at the Annual Parochial
Church Meeling. by those on the Electoral Rdl. Some PCC members rec8ive training from courses
run by the Diocese. Members of the congregathM are dways urged to join the Electoral Roll, and to
stand for election to the PCC.
The PCC members are responsibl8 for making delision on all matters of gen8ral collc8m ar)d
importance in the parish, and for all finanaal matters. The full PCC mel S time5 during the year
an average attendance of 72 %. Local Leadership Teams of the three drfferent districts met be￿een
meetings and notes of their d81iberations V￿re receivad and discJJssed by the full PCC along with
regular report from the Lighthouse Centre.

The Ch2riti&s Act 2011 requires the members to preparo finanryal stalements for eath financial year
which give a tnje and fair wew of the state of affairs of the PCC at the end of the year and of the
surplus or deficiency for the year th￿1 end&i.
In preparing those financkil slaternents. the membets are required to setect sultabl8 accounting
policies. as described on pages 3 and 4, and then apply them on a consistent basis, making
judgements and estimates that ar8 prudent and reasonatle. The members must also prepare the
financial statements on the going concem basis unless it is inappropriate to pr8sume that the PCC
will continue in business.
The members are respon￿ble fcA keeping proper acwunling records which disGlose wth
reasonable accuracy at any lime the finanual posttion of the PCC and to enable them to ensure that
the financial statements (x)mply wtth th8 Charities Act 2011. The members are also résponsible for
safeguarding the assets of the PCC and hence f¢x tsking reasonable steps for the prevention and
deteGtion of fraud and other iThegularities.
