Depttord Methodist Churchlmission exists to Sha￿ the love of God with
all arKI to wrtness that Jesus Christ is Lord and Saviour of all. As a
Mission it serves the community of Deptford and works with others to
improve the lives of peo￿ in this diverse area with rts challenges of
poverty and other deprivation. We believe that our Christian faith should
be seen in action serving others. The church is fully involved with the
Disabled Pèople's Contact to help the eldedy and disabled by having
day Cent￿ on ts Txemises. The church encourages other agencies that
are in sympathy wrth our general aims to use our building and help
others. As part of the Southwark and Deptford Circuit it Is committed to
the wider work of the church in the wodd. As a Mission we lake seriously
John Wesley's words 'The wodd is my parish.. The church represents in
its membership many different countries of the world. particularly from
AfrirA. and so our service takes on a global 8ignificance Deptford

Deptford Methodist Churchlmission exists to share the love of God wrth

day centre on its premises. The church encourages other agencies thal

achievements of the charlty
during the year
The church congregation has retum8d in 8mall8r numbers as the
restnctK)n$ of the pandemic lifted. It has taken time for peopl8 to regain
confidence and re-eslablish pattems of church going. Our work with
young peopk continues, though similarly affected by changed habits due
to the pandemic.
The Di$abl8d People's ContaGt Centre has returned in person and
continues to meet the needs of those who otherwise would be isolated. It
pro¥ide8 a programme of food and activities,. the ¢hur¢h off8r8 a weekly
service of worship that enables p8ople lo attend chU￿h while at the
centre.
The church provides office and coungelling spac8 for various
organisations; it continues the long temi relationship with Second Wave
that works with young people in thé borough. Along wrth the shop that
raises money lor the Disabled People's Contact Centre, the space at
Deptford Mission 18 availabb for other community organisations18.g.
Karate clasgesl and the church collaborates with other churches in
responding to the needs of pov8ty with donations to local foodbanks and
gifts for Ghildren and adults at Chnstmas.

Financial review
Th8 church aims to hold about six months, worth of expenses in reserves,
with a small surplus to pay for emergency repairs. Our bad debt provision
has now reduced to £47k for ￿nt receivable and the church is still
covering from the effects of the pandemic.
