The church is part of a wider local group of Methodist churches, the Southwark and Deptford Circuit, in which policy decisions about staffing and mission for the whole circuit are made.

**Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document** 

Deptford Methodist Church/Mission exists to share the love of God with all and to witness that Jesus Christ is Lord and Saviour of all. As a Mission it serves the community of Deptford and works with others to improve the lives of people in this diverse area with its challenges of poverty and other deprivation. We believe that our Christian faith should be seen in action serving others. The church is fully involved with the Disabled People’s Contact to help the elderly and disabled by having a day centre on its premises. The church encourages other agencies that are in sympathy with our general aims to use our building and help others. As part of the Southwark and Deptford Circuit it is committed

to the wider work of the church in the world. As a Mission we take seriously John Wesley’s words ‘The world is my parish’. The church represents in its membership many different countries of the world, particularly from Africa, and so our service takes on a global significance. Deptford Methodist Church/Mission welcomes all by opening its doors to everyone whatever their situation. Weekly worship. Study groups. Pastoral care. Support of Contact Centre for older people.

The church aims to hold six months’ worth of expenses in reserves, with a small surplus to pay for emergency repairs. This year we have had to draw on reserves to manage our expenditure given the reduced income from the membership and other organisations using the premises.
