Ministers Report 2025 for AGM

Thanks be to God for his faithfulness to us this year.

There have been some challenges this year;

The heating still not repaired, which meant we had to overcome the cold. But the worship and the fellowship remained warm.

We haven’t had 35 Chapel Walk since July which meant that our outreach work has been limited. But we continued with coffee mornings in the main building and also our Thursday prayers.

We have also continued our acts of service at Oasis on Sunday nights. My thanks goes to Kevin, Sean, Common and Costello who come and serve on Sunday nights. We see between 15 and 25 people joining in worship and we share food with over 30 people. Many of those are homeless and have addictions or neuro diverse needs. We offer an Oasis of love. God’s protection is there for us in what is often a vulnerable atmosphere.

In December we welcomed Cliff College for a Christmas Praise and over 100 people joined us. This partnership with Cliff College has the potential to grow in the coming years with students coming to lead worship and maybe even work with us to grow the church.

In February we celebrated our new Church of Sanctuary status. It was a wonderful celebration with the President of the Methodist Conference, the District Chair and the Circuit. Our Church partners were there; the French congregation with their amazing choir, The Iranian fellowship, Paul Huggins from the Salvation Army and Stephen Ramshaw from the Church Army. The experience of that evening will linger for a long time in my memory. Thank you to everyone who contributed to that event and to the circuit for paying for the food.

It has been good to see how the church continues to welcome new faces to the church. There is a huge potential to grow.

Thank you to everyone who helps the church function. Those who set up and tidy up each week, those who look after the children during worship, those who share in the reading of the bible and pray and those who do the coffee and offer hospitality. But we do need more helpers. We need to have a rota of people who will help to set up church on Sunday morning because that is left to a very small few people. It is so important that we are ready to welcome people in good time before the start of the worship at 10:30am. Would you be willing to join a rota to do this?

God is faithful to us, may we as a faithful people continue to show our gratitude to him in our acts of love and service
