## **POTTERS HOUSE CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP BEXLEYHEATH**

## **TRUSTEES REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31ST DECEMBER 2023**

## **Church Activities and Growth**

We continued experience a steady growth within our congregation as we continued to be outreaching within our local community. This was via a series of ‘My Story’ events, where a number of our members would invite friends and family and share their journey to faith; our family stay and play fun day within our local community and local regular outreach and street evangelism.

We were also able to connect with our leadership church events such as our annual Bible conference, couples marriage retreat and Father’s club camping trips; this connection and fellowship has been a support to our local congregation.

## **Revival & Special Service Meetings**

We were able to host two water baptisms within the months of February and November. This was really encouraging to see five of our church members make this statement of faith amongst family, friends and invited guests. The baptism at the beginning of the year was coupled with our sister church which was also a welcomed opportunity for fellowship between our members.

We welcomed a number of our visiting Pastors and Evangelists in order to encourage and stir the congregation to fulfil God’s purpose and plan for our lives.

## **World Evangelism**

Our Pastor regularly preaches and teaches upon the global impact the local church can have within communities abroad. Our Pastor connected with a number of our missionary and local pastors from Namibia to minister across 5 different regions visiting numerous fellowship churches over a two-week period. This proved to be very impactful for both our Pastor and the churches he had the privilege of ministering within, he returned stirred to arrange an impact team for our members to attend with him in the coming year.

## **Year End**

We enjoyed our year end banquet within a local restaurant and shared testimonies and highlights of the year. Our congregation had the privilege of hosting our very first New Year’s Eve crossover service to enter a new year. This was a well-attended event and perfect end to the year.

## **Risk Assessment**

The trustees actively review the major risks which the charity faces on a regular basis and believe that maintaining the free reserves stated, combined with the annual review of the controls over key financial systems carried out on an annual basis will provide sufficient resources in the event of adverse conditions. The trustees have also examined other operational and business risks which they face and confirm that they have established systems to mitigate the significant risks.

## **INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT ON THE ACCOUNTS**

Report to the trustees/members of Potters House Christian Fellowship Bexleyheath on the accounts for the year ended 31st December 2023 set out on pages 7 to 10.

## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner**

The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed.

It is my responsibility to:

- examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act,

- to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act, and

- to state whether particular matters have come to my attention

## **Basis of independent examiner’s statement**

My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement

## **Independent examiner's statement**

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention

1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in, any material respect, the requirements:

- to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; and

- to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act

have not been met; or

2. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
