Some dlents are happy to take aévantage of both types ofservi¢e and many attend more than one ActivEty
Day Centre per week. Whichevgr sep11￿ they hav&, a wide vart8ty of actlvities wlll be arranged, both
outdoor and indoors, d8P8nding on interests and abllilies. Where pos81ble memory compantons, who
provide a One2one service. 8r6 linked to dients V￿th slmilar Interests. Acliwty Centr8 dients are assessad
for thelr mobilty aThl sklll18v8ls and offered the most appropriate Session.
Durlng 2023124 Essex Dementia Care was grfted £130k from the Edward GO￿ing Foundation for the
estaNshmenl of an endowment fund, %thich is referred to as'The Edward Gostling Fun(r. For a period of
5 years thls fund may be used to prev8nt the resow of E58ex Dementia Care f811ing beneath 9 month8
operating ¢￿￿ts by transferring strfi¢ienl funds from th8 8ndowment furKI Into reserves. On the fifth
anniversary. any remalnlng endowment funds m&y b8 u86d for 8ny purpos6 that fWI￿r d￿ritable
objects of Essex Dementia Caro.

were delfvered during ts yaar at our day centros al 401 daily sessions. E8ch dally session is for 4.5 - 5
hours and includes a freshly cooked mldday meal.

rose slighty during tho financial year to 5.295 (5.1712023124) at an avèrage of 441 hours per month (431
2023124).
Th8 charlty is very grateful to th8 dedlcatsd volunl8ers who assist tho Activity Centre staff and help lo
pmwde empathy arKI encouragement to the dl8nls. They make It posslb16 for the CentreF to be run to a
good standard of care and at an affordable fee.

those costs of an Indlrect nature necessary to support them.
Support costs
Support costs Indude central functlons and have been allocated to activity c05t cate8orles on a basi5
consistent wlth the usè of resources, for example, allocatlng property costs by floor areas, or per capits,
staff costs by the time spent and other costs by their usage.
Govemance cosls
These indude the costs attrlbutable to the charltys compllance wlth constltutlonal and statutory
requirements, including audit, stratewc management and tru5tee5 meetings and reimbursed expenses.
Taxatlon
The charlty Is consldered to pass the tests set out In Paragraph I Schedule 6 of the Fknance Act 2010 and
therefore it meets the definitlon of a charltable company for UK corporatkln tax purposes, Accordlngly,
the charity 15 Potentially exempt from tsxatlon In respect of Income or capltal galns received within
categorles covered by Chapter 3 Part 11 of the Corporation Tax Act 2010 or Section 256 of the Taxation
of Chargeable Gains Act 1992, to the extent that such income or 8alns are applied exclusively to
charltable purposes.
