In the course of the church’s activities, the trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit, and in particular, to that given on charities for the advancement of religion.
We aim to help people to live out their faith through worship and prayer; through pastoral care and learning together, and through outreach to the local community and to the wider world.

Summary of the main During the reported year of 2022/23 st John’s has micrpased its pills in
achievements of the charity response in response to the cost of living crisis suffered across the nary
during the year There has also been recovery of many previously held activities, i.e. male
voice choir season, Lego exhibition & craft stall for two weeks, toddlers
singing, Friday coffee . This recovery has been possible following increased |
confidence in the Covid vaccination programme, supported by risk |
assessments to minimise the effects of increased mixing of people. It is
understood that Covid is now in the community, with its associated impact
from time to time.
Sunday worship ( including refreshments after the service), Thursday Prayer
Services for Wholeness and Healing, open church on Thursday afternoons &
Friday mornings continue.
With increased confidence we now hold Church run coffee mornings every
| Friday.

Hiring sessions have resumed including regular craft fairs & hospitality on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays. Other hiring sessions occur too, as required and organised.
From January 2023 onwards St John’s registered with the government approved "Warm Welcome” scheme, which has offered the town a Welcome theiroffered.community& WarmownThisSpaceneedlework, jigsaws,hasfromproved use1-4pmand thevery WiFi,enjoyevery popular expeaFriday, wa with r iencem withfriendlyeveryone friendshipno spacechargewho andwithforrefreshmentsgathers chats, no chu bto r playingch ||| agenda. It was identified that the people who attended had a need for | company as well as heat & food, so for this reasonthe warmspace became | the welcome space & has continued throughout the year, beyond the | timeframe requested by local & national government agencies. In terms of nurturing our congregation and outreach efforts a Bible study | series took place during Lent / Easter, and oneis planned for September/ | October 2023. Work was done in 2022 to enable good ventilation of the church hall. We are planning to fit powered mechanisms to our heavy exterior hall doors in January 2024 to aid accessibility for those who find visiting our premises physically difficult.
