Objectives and Activities The Charities Objectives
At Cambo pre-school we aim to provide affordable childcare, free from prejudice and discrimination, in a safe, secure, creative and happy environment, encouraging our children to reach their full potential in all areas of their development.
We believe that every child in unique and our aim is to provide a fun, stimulating learning experience which is catered to each child’s individual need.
Children learn through play and through experiences which are meaningful to them. If they’re happy and secure, then they will learn and progress. We aim to plan and provide activities and play opportunities to develop our children’s emotional, physical, social and intellectual capabilities to their full potential. At the end of their time with us they will be capable, resilient and self-assured individuals ready to move on in to reception.
The Charities main activities
Cambo wraparound provides high quality child care in a safe and stimulating environment in the form of breakfast club (2 ½ - 9 Year olds), Full Day Preschool (2 ½ - 5 Year olds), Afterschool Club (2 ½ - 9 Year olds), and also summer club (3-9 Year olds).

Achievements and performance
The 2024/2025 preschool year started with low numbers but by spring term had improved to good numbers of children, with a lot of them taking advantage of full days and full government funding. We believe attending preschool for almost full weeks prepares our children for joining mainstream school come September. The improved child numbers is due to approaching the end of the term of an entire year group (2025 reception intake) being absent from the local community, this absence impacting preschool greatly as it influences two and a half years income, the latter part of 2024\2025 saw more government childcare funding with younger children joining the facility. Expenditure is not relevant to our income as our highest cost is wages that must be paid no matter the attendance income. The 2026 reception intake has come forward steady with numbers increasing again in the spring term, this looks to be a more favourable financial future, with the fundraising committee prepared and working towards helping with the current shortfall. A rejuvenated parent fundraising team has proven successful with massive effort and good financial returns helping to re-secure the facility after a difficult few years.
We continue to provide affordable childcare in a fun, stimulating environment which caters to each child’s learning need. We work closely with our parents, current situations restrict inviting them in to our setting regularly to see how their children are progressing, however we endeavour to have regular contact with our parents through their child’s key person.
We have a good working relationship with Cambo school and carry out regular transition projects with them. This ensures the seamless transition for our children in to reception.
We continue to strive to ensure all our children feel valued and by the end of their time with us, they are capable, resilient and self- assured individuals ready and excited for the challenges reception will bring.
Financial Review
The expenditure for 2024-2025 year was £61,961.00 and Income £74,805.22 leaving a profit of £12,844,22. The largest expense is wages at £51,728.13 with the balance mostly made up of pension contributions and operational costs consisting of insurance, phone contract and bank charges. Expenses are logged and checked by the Manager and a trustee and mostly include breakfast/snack supplies and planned educational activity supplies.

Statement of trustee’s responsibilities
Trustees are required to select suitable and consistent accounting policies and to state whether applicable UK accounting standards have been followed, any financial expenditures’ must have been disclosed and explained in the financial statements, they must observe the methods and principles in the charities SORP and also make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent.
The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and for taking responsible steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
