## **Aim and Purposes**

The Parochial Church Council (PCC) has the responsibility of co-operating with the incumbent in promoting in the ecclesiastical parish the pastoral, evangelistic, social and ecumenical mission of the Church.

## **Structure, Governance and Management**

The Parish of Buxton with Burbage and King Sterndale is constituted as a team ministry and is part of the Diocese of Derby within the Church of England. It includes the churches of St John’s, St Anne’s, St Mary’s, St James, Christ Church Burbage and Christ Church King Sterndale. The PCC is a body corporate established by the Church of England and is governed by the Parochial Church Council Powers Measure (1956) as amended and the Church Representation Rules 2006. The PCC is a Registered Charity, Registration Number 1128844 and its administrative address is: Parish Centre, 29 Bath Road, Buxton, Derbyshire SK17 6HJ.

The method of appointment of PCC members is set out in the Church Representation Rules. All church attendees are encouraged to register on the Electoral Roll and stand for election to the PCC. The Churchwardens, other officers and all other members are elected by the Annual Parochial Church Meeting. The PCC has the authority to co-opt church members to serve on the PCC.

The PCC appoints subcommittees for certain aspects of church life. The Standing Committee and the Finance Committee have the authority to transact the business of the PCC between its meetings. Proposals, reports and minutes of their meetings are circulated and approved by the PCC.

The PCC receives regular reports from the Deanery Synod members. This provides the PCC with an important link between the parish and wider structures of the Church.

The PCC has approved policies for the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults and has appointed specific people to handle any such concerns.

## **Objectives and activities**

The charity's objects are bringing people to faith and faith to people. The PCC is committed to enabling as many people as possible to worship at our churches and to become part of our community in the parish. The PCC maintains an overview of worship throughout the parish and makes suggestions as to how our services can best serve the needs of our community. Our services and worship put faith into practice through prayer and scripture, music and sacrament.

When planning our activities for the year, the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit has been taken into consideration, and particularly the supplementary guidance on charities for the advancement of religion. Church members are enabled to live out their faith as part of the parish community through:

- worship and prayer; learning about the Gospel; and developing their knowledge and trust in Jesus;

- provision of pastoral care for people living in the parish;

- missionary and outreach work.

To facilitate this work, it is important to maintain the fabric of the churches and administrative buildings in the parish.

## **Achievements and performance**

## _**2025 Overview of activities**_

## _**The Parish**_

The Trustees – together with the volunteers and the staff of the parish – seek to bring the ‘good news’ of Jesus Christ to the diverse communities represented within the parish. A regular pattern of worship in different Anglican styles is offered on Sundays and on Wednesdays through five of the six churches which make up the parish. These services are available to all, regardless of whether they live within the parish or are visiting. Services are also regularly offered in local care homes. In addition to these regular services our licensed ministers also conducted seven weddings, seven baptisms, and forty-two funeral and memorial services. Holy Communion is regularly offered to individuals who are no longer able to attend services in our churches.

The interim Priest-in-Charge retired in July 2025, and the Parish went into interregnum. Following completion of a Parish Profile, the process of recruiting a new Rector was put in hand.

The Trustees seek to encourage the individual churches to engage with the different communities within the parish. Examples of this engagement are outlined in the reports provided by each church but include:

- Christ Church, Burbage hosng the Snowdrop Tea in February;

- St John’s Church hosng the Fesval Masses during the annual Buxton Internaonal Fesval in July;

- St Mary’s Church hosng the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance in November.

The Trustees also seek to encourage the volunteers and staff of the parish to work with churches of other denominations in the parish to bring the ‘good news’ of Jesus Christ. Examples of ecumenical partnership include:

- hosng the annual Service of Prayer for Chrisan Unity in January;

- parcipaon in the annual Civic Remembrance Sunday Service on The Slopes.

There is a good level of compliancy with the diocese’s Essential Safeguarding Requirements, and the Trustees understand the need for these safeguards in the parish. Trustees have completed the appropriate safeguarding training and DBS checks have been renewed as required. The Safeguarding Dashboard is completed at the Parish Office.

So many other people have also given their time and talents in prayer, worship, mission and outreach, fundraising, administration, safeguarding, maintenance, gardening, cleaning, providing refreshments and supporting one another in service across the parish.

## _**St John’s**_

The Sung Eucharist services remain the focus for weekly worship in the church for which many thanks are due to the organists and the choir. When combined services were held elsewhere in the parish, St John’s remained open to welcome the town’s many visitors.

## TRUSTEES’ REPORT

## _FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2025_

________________________________________________________________ As well as the special services held over the Christmas period, St John’s attracted nearly 700 people to the three masses held in conjunction with the Buxton International Festival, and over 300 to the Gilbert & Sulivan service during their festival. The latter was live streamed around the world. During the year there were two baptisms, one wedding, four funerals and two memorial services.

During the summer months the church continues to be used as venue by the Buxton International Festival with over 5000 people attending 28 concerts and was also used for the Gilbert & Sullivan festival’s fringe events. The Buxton Musical Society and other local groups use the church as a concert venue. Lettings such as these create a significant revenue stream for the parish and their continued success has prompted St John’s to continue to raise funds specifically to make improvements to the fabric of this historic building. During the year several of the historic stainedglass windows were professionally cleaned.

In September over 200 visitors from all over the UK and around the globe visited St John’s as part of the national Heritage Open Days scheme. There were displays around the theme of architecture as well as several organ recitals.

Following a review of health and safety, improvements have been made to the lighting ensuring a safe experience for those attending the candle-lit services without detracting from the beauty of them in any way. Progress has also been made to address the long-standing Japanese knotweed in the churchyard.

St John’s Church had income of £73,150 (2024 £57,228) during the year, and direct expenditure of £19,363 (2024 £18,451), contributing £53,787 (2024 £38,776) to the shared costs of the parish.

## _**St Anne’s**_

St Anne’s has a Book of Common Prayer communion service on a Wednesday morning, at which all are welcome. There is a regular core congregation of about a dozen members. During the year, the organ previously installed at St James’ Harpur Hill was relocated to St Anne’s; a rededication service was held in October. There were two funerals and one interment of ashes during 2025.

St Anne’s Church had income of £6,104 (2024 £5,863) during the year, and direct expenditure of £2,838 (2024 £1,429), contributing £3,266 (2024 £4,434) to the shared costs of the parish.

## _**St Mary’s**_

2025 has been a transformational year for the church building, with completion of a long-planned project to install two new toilets plus a kitchen and servery area. The aim is to offer not just better facilities for those attending services or events, but also to make the church a more welcoming space and to increase community use.

Everyone at St Mary’s is very grateful to the late Joseph Derek Nadin whose generous legacy provided the initial funding for the work. Thanks also go to the Bingham Trust, Raymond Ross Fund

________________________________________________________________ and many individual donors. The Autumn Fair at the end of October raised £1,012 towards the project, and lettings during the Buxton Festival Fringe and throughout the year also contributed.

The new facilities, which include an accessible toilet, have enabled a positive new community initiative to begin. In November 2025, a parish Welcome Group was launched, supported by a Warm Spaces grant. Held on the first and third Wednesday of each month from 2-4pm, it offers a range of activities and a chance to chat over refreshments to anyone from the local area who would like to attend.

Services at St Mary’s also offer something for everyone, from the informal monthly Jigsaw church service, led by congregation members, to all-age communion services. During 2025, alongside the regular services, the church held three baptisms, two weddings, thirteen funerals and three interments of ashes.

The parish services for Ash Wednesday and All Souls were held at St Mary’s. Working with the Buxton Pride team, the church also hosted an annual parish event to mark international Transgender Day of Remembrance in November. The popular Folk Carols returned in December after a break and raised £230 for the Zink foodbank.

The St Mary’s Committee plays a key role in caring for and developing the church, including planning events, outreach activity and maintenance. Sincere thanks go to everyone who has shared their time, skill and resources to support the mission of St Mary’s throughout 2025.

St Mary’s Church had income of £29,551 (2024 £30,425) during the year, and direct expenditure of £9,584 (2024 £8,460), contributing £19,966 (2024 £21,966) to the shared costs of the parish.

## _**Christ Church, Burbage**_

The regular pattern of services is three Common Worship Holy Communion and one Brekkie service each month. These services are heavenly reliant on the generosity of our retired clergy and lay readers, for which we are very grateful. During the year we had one baptism, three marriages, eighteen funerals and twelve interments of ashes.

We are the only church in Buxton to have a bell ringing team and the bells are rung each Sunday morning and on various other occasions. Visiting teams of bell ringers have also been hosted. A coffee and chat morning is held each month; this coincides with the working party which maintains our extensive churchyard. Another small team cleans and looks after the interior of the church.

In addition to our spring and Christmas coffee mornings at the Burbage Institute, we held our everpopular snowdrop tea and a V E Day celebration in the church. These events were well supported by the wider Burbage community. The annual _Clypping_ service in August and the Remembrance service in November were both supported by the award-winning Burbage Band.

At Christmas, both local nurseries held carol concerts, and Burbage primary school held two Christingle services with parents and grandparents packing the church. Prior to Christmas the Burbage W I and the church held an afternoon of carols and songs. On Christmas Eve, the Burbage handbell ringers treated us to a great selection of Christmas carols; this was followed by the crib

service which was very well attended - a wonderful start to our Christmas celebrations.

Christ Church Burbage had income of £26,008 (2024 £24,284) during the year, and direct expenditure of £7,765 (2023 £3,643), contributing £18,333 (2024 £20,641) to the shared costs of the parish.

## _**St James’ Harpur Hill**_

St James’ Church has suffered in recent years from damp and major structural problems and has been closed since 2022. During the year the Diocese commenced the process to enable the church to be closed permanently.

St James’ Church had income of £627 (2024 £293) during the year, and direct expenditure of £37 (2024 £768), contributing £590 (2024 -£475) to the shared costs of the parish.

## _**Christ Church King Sterndale**_

The church is open daily during daylight hours for private prayer. Throughout 2025 we have held two Sunday services a month; our average attendance has returned to twelve. We have eleven people on the electoral roll. In addition to our Sunday service, we have had one wedding, one baptism, three funeral services and three burials.

On Easter Sunday the congregation was double our usual Sunday service number; this gives some indication of the potential number of people we could attract. Since the retirement of the interim priest-in-charge we have had the pleasure of welcoming several visiting priests and the Archdeacon to conduct a wedding and Eucharist services. Instead of the auction of produce at our Harvest Festival, items donated were sent to the Zink food bank. King Sterndale held a Remembrance service at our war memorial in the church grounds. The carol service was attended by the _Side by Side_ singing café group who thoroughly enjoyed their welcome. A collection at this service contributed towards the parish’s Christmas charity donation. On Christmas Day the churchwarden led a short carols and prayer service.

Christ Church King Sterndale had income of £6,482 (2024 £8,790) during the year, and direct expenditure of £1,340 (2024 £798), contributing £5,142 (2024 £7,992) to the shared costs of the parish.

## _**King Sterndale Hall**_

The hall is open for each Sunday service, for use of the toilet facilities and the kitchen. It has been used for family gatherings when there have been weddings, baptisms, funerals and interment of ashes in the churchyard and has also been hired for funeral wakes and baptism celebrations.

Regular users have included the local Pilates group, children’s birthday parties, civil parish meetings, Caravan Club socials, and use as a polling station. Young Farmers use the hall for dance, speech and

drama rehearsals when preparing for their YF annual regional and national competitions as do local brass bands. PB Theatricals Youth Theatre used the hall for rehearsing their Gilbert & Sullivan productions.

King Sterndale Hall had income of £2,465 (2024 £3,711) during the year, and direct expenditure of £2,054 (2023 £3,972), increasing their designated fund by £411. (2023 -£261 to the shared costs of the parish).

## _**Bath Road Centre**_

The Centre continues to be well used by many local groups and in 2025 there was a slight increase in the income from lettings. We are very grateful to the parish administrators, Jennie Parker and Nicci Smith, who do an excellent job looking after the Centre, and to everyone who uses it.

The Bath Road Centre had income of £15,517 (2024 £14,933) during the year, and direct expenditure of £4,788 (2024 £4,956), contributing £10,730 (2024 £9,978) to the shared costs of the parish.

## _**Financial Review**_

During 2024 it emerged that the PCC’s accounts did not comply fully with the rules set by the Charity Commission, primarily regarding the treatment of restricted funds and the interest thereon. After in-depth analysis by the treasurer and the interim priest-in-charge further significant adjustments were made during 2025.

Over the past two years £54,733 of general fund reserves have been transferred to designated and restricted funds. These transfers, an adjustment downwards our 2023 GADS income, together with deficits of £32,689 in 2024 and £21,118 in 2025 have resulted in a reduction in the balance of the general fund from £149,584 at the end of 2023 to just £40,451 at the end of 2025. It is now believed that all adjustments relating to previous years’ figures have been made.

The key metric, the difference between day-to-day income and expenses, “improved” from a deficit of £33,192 in 2024 to a deficit of £21,118 in 2025. However, this is not a satisfactory situation, and we must seek ways to increase our general fund income, principally by encouraging the congregation to increase their giving and by raising our lettings income. Total incoming resources for the parish (including grants and donations to restricted and designated funds) increased from £180,812 in 2024 to £215,116 in 2025.

At the end of 2025, total funds held by the parish were £218,527, a reduction during the year of £38,448. Using restricted funds from a legacy, grants and fundraising towards the £71,880 spent during the year on the new kitchen and other improvements at St Mary’s was a significant factor here.

In common with many other charities and churches, 91% of the parish’s deposit accounts are held with CCLA, the manager originally set up by the Church of England to allow church organisations to pool their funds with the aim to improve efficiency and service. As these accounts are an

unregulated collective investment scheme, our deposits totalling £116,501 are not covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme which normally protects bank deposits up to £120,000.

An investment in CCLA’s COIF Charities Investment Fund which aims to provide a return of CPI plus 4% has recorded a loss of £1,541 (-4%) in 2025 at a time when the market benchmark was an increase of 14.4%. CCLA has recorded its frustration at this extremely disappointing investment performance.

Around a third of the parish’s assets is held in restricted funds which can be used only for the purpose for which they were given, generally for the maintenance of specified buildings and graveyards:

|Christ Church King Sterndale|£38,747|
|---|---|
|Christ Church Burbage|£15,718|
|St Anne’s|£5,984|
|St James’s|£5,815|
|St Mary’s|£1,678|
|General purposes|£22|
|**TOTAL**|**£67,964**|

This reclassification has meant that it has been possible for the designated fabric fund to be subsumed into a new designated general parish reserve.

The following detailed points should also be noted:

## **Incoming Resources**

After having fallen for each of the previous three years, planned giving increased by 9% in 2025 and cash collections increased by 12%. Although this improvement is welcomed, after adjusting for inflation, total giving has still reduced in real terms over the past four years.

During the year we received grants and donations totalling £26,000, principally into restricted funds for the benefit of St Anne’s and Christ Church Burbage, together with further contributions towards the new kitchen at St Mary’s. A legacy of £1,236 was left to Christ Church King Sterndale. St John’s raised £6,201 during the year; this, together with the balance of a previously restricted fund, means that there is now £8,803 held in a new designated fund towards planned improvements at this church.

Lower deposit balances together with reductions in interest rates accounted for a fall in interest received from £11,309 in 2024 to £8,9255 in 2025; £3,169 of this has now been allocated to the appropriate restricted funds.

Income from lettings of the churches and the church centre increased from a total of £34,023 in 2024 to £37,160 in 2025 with a further £2,465 from King Sterndale Hall now being accounted for in a new designated fund rather than within the general funds of the parish. Income from fees for weddings and funerals increased from £32,069 in 2024 to £40,470 in 2025, reflecting increases in these activities.

## TRUSTEES’ REPORT

## _FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2025_

## ________________________________________________________________

## **Resources Expended**

The largest single expense is the payment towards the Common Fund. The amount requested by the Diocese increased from £77,249 in 2024 to £79,566 in 2025. This amount is used towards the cost of our complement of stipendiary clergy, their pensions and housing, as well as other central costs. The PCC undertook to pay the amounts requested in full, strategically important whilst the parish remains in a period of interregnum.

The amount spent on maintaining and improving buildings and graveyards increased from £44,589 in 2024 to £94,499 in 2025. Over 90% of this amount was covered by restricted and designated funds, principally the new kitchen and other improvements at St Mary’s.

There was an increase in administration costs from £34,498 in 2024 to £38,863 in 2025. This is the result of salary increases and additional hours worked. Efforts continue to be made to control costs and to ensure that all expenses are properly authorised.

## **Major risks**

The Trustees have assessed the major risks to which the Charity is exposed and are satisfied that systems are in place to mitigate exposure to the major risks.

## **Reserves policy**

Reserves are required to be held to maintain levels of current activity, to respond to short-term emergency expenditure or shortfalls in income, and to respond promptly to future opportunities in support of the parish's mission. The agreed policy is to keep free reserves equating to approximately six months' ordinary expenditure, together with full commitment to pay the Common Fund over the year. At current levels of activity, the aim was to retain a reserve in the region of £134,000. At the end of 2025, the total of the general fund and the parish reserve stood at £128,937, a shortfall of over £5,000.

## **Staff and Volunteers**

The parish is blessed to have a willing and active team of volunteers who support the ministry team, PCC and parish finance and admin staff. Together, they all are working towards growing the kingdom of God in our community.

The treasurer, Mary Webb, has been supported by the finance committee comprising Philip Barton, Maggie Davies, Jill Hulme, Jean Luton and Lorraine Marrow. The continuing valued support of the individual church treasurers and churchwardens is recognised. Invaluable help was provided by Ian Armett and Robin Cundill who took responsibility for managing the VAT and Gift Aid recovery processes. The parish administrators, Jennie Parker and Nicci Smith, continue to play a very significant part in the smooth running of the parish.

## NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS

## _YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2025_

## ________________________________________________________________

## **1 General information**

The Parochial Church Council of the Ecclesiastical Parish of Buxton with Burbage and King Sterndale is a charity controlled by its governing document, a deed of trust, and constitutes an unincorporated charity.

The address of the administrative office is 29 Bath Road, Buxton SK17 6HJ.

The Parish includes the churches of St. John's, St. Mary's, St. Anne's, St. James, Christ Church Burbage and Christ Church King Sterndale.

The Charity is involved in the following activities: regular worship, pastoral work, prayer and the teaching of Christianity.

## **2 Accounting convention**

The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the Charity's governing document, the Charities Act 2011 and “Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)” (as amended for accounting periods commencing from 1 January 2016). The Charity is a Public Benefit Entity as defined by FRS 102.

The Charity has taken advantage of the provisions in the SORP for charities applying FRS 102 Update Bulletin 1 not to prepare a Statement of Cash Flows.

The financial statements have departed from the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 only to the extent required to provide a true and fair view. This departure has involved following the Statement of Recommended Practice for charities applying FRS 102 rather than the version of the Statement of Recommended Practice which is referred to in the Regulations but which has since been withdrawn.

The financial statements are prepared in sterling, which is the functional currency of the Charity. Monetary amounts in these financial statements are rounded to the nearest £.

## **3 Accounting policies**

## **(a) Basis of preparation**

The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention, modified to include the revaluation of freehold properties and to include investment properties and certain financial instruments at fair value.

## **(b) Going concern**

At the time of approving the financial statements, the Trustees have a reasonable expectation that the Charity has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. Thus the Trustees continue to adopt the going concern basis of accounting in preparing the financial statements.

## **(c) Judgements and key sources of estimation uncertainty**

The preparation of the financial statements requires management to make judgements, estimates and assumptions that affect the amounts reported. These estimates and judgements are continually reviewed and are based on experience and other factors, including expectations of future events that are believed to be reasonable under the circumstances.

## **(d) Fund accounting**

Unrestricted funds are available for use at the discretion of the Trustees to further any of the Charity's purposes. Designated funds are unrestricted funds earmarked by the Trustees for particular future projects or commitments.

Restricted funds are subjected to restrictions on their expenditure declared by the donor or through the terms of an appeal.

## NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS

## _YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2025_

## ________________________________________________________________

## **(e) Income**

Income is recognised when the Charity is legally entitled to it after any performance conditions have been met, the amounts can be measured reliably, and it is probable that income will be received.

Cash donations are recognised on receipt. Other donations are recognised once the Charity has been notified of the donation, unless performance conditions require deferral of the amount. Income tax recoverable in relation to donations received under Gift Aid or deeds of covenant is recognised at the time of the donation.

Legacies are recognised on receipt or otherwise if the Charity has been notified of an impending distribution, the amount is known, and receipt is expected. If the amount is not known, the legacy is treated as a contingent asset.

## **(f) Expenditure**

Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or constructive obligation to transfer economic benefit to a third party, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement, and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably.

Expenditure is classified by activity. The costs of each activity are made up of the total of direct costs and shared costs, including support costs involved in undertaking each activity. Direct costs attributable to a single activity are allocated directly to that activity. Shared costs which contribute to more than one activity and support costs which are not attributable to a single activity are apportioned between those activities on a basis consistent with the use of resources. Central staff costs are allocated on the basis of time spent, and depreciation charges are allocated on the portion of the asset’s use.

## **(g) Tangible fixed assets**

Tangible fixed assets are initially measured at cost and subsequently measured at cost or valuation, net of depreciation and any impairment losses.

Depreciation is recognised so as to write off the cost or valuation of assets less their residual values over their useful lives on the following bases:

Plant and equipment 20% Straight line Church fixtures and fittings 25% Straight line Office equipment 20% Straight line

The gain or loss arising on the disposal of an asset is determined as the difference between the sale proceeds and the carrying value

## **(h) Fixed asset investments**

Fixed asset investments are initially measured at transaction price excluding transaction costs, and are subsequently measured at fair value at each reporng date. Changes in fair value are recognised in net income/ (expenditure) for the year. Transacon costs are expensed as incurred.

## **(i) Impairment of fixed assets**

At each reporting end date, the Charity reviews the carrying amounts of its tangible assets to determine whether there is any indication that those assets have suffered an impairment loss. If any such indication exists, the recoverable amount of the asset is estimated in order to determine the extent of the impairment loss (if any).

## **(j) Cash and cash equivalents**

Cash and cash equivalents include cash in hand, deposits held at call with banks, other short-term liquid investments with original maturities of three months or less, and bank overdrafts. Bank overdrafts are shown within borrowings in current liabilities.

## NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS

## _YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2025_

________________________________________________________________

## **(k) Financial instruments**

The Charity has elected to apply the provisions of Section 11 ‘Basic Financial Instruments’ and Section 12 ‘Other Financial Instruments Issues’ of FRS 102 to all of its financial instruments.

Financial instruments are recognised in the Charity's balance sheet when the Charity becomes party to the contractual provisions of the instrument.

Financial assets and liabilities are offset, with the net amounts presented in the financial statements, when there is a legally enforceable right to set off the recognised amounts and there is an intention to settle on a net basis or to realise the asset and settle the liability simultaneously.

**Basic financial assets** , which include debtors and cash and bank balances, are initially measured at transaction price including transaction costs and are subsequently carried at amortised cost using the effective interest method unless the arrangement constitutes a financing transaction, where the transaction is measured at the present value of the future receipts discounted at a market rate of interest. Financial assets classified as receivable within one year are not amortised.

**Basic financial liabilities** , including creditors and bank loans are initially recognised at transaction price unless the arrangement constitutes a financing transaction, where the debt instrument is measured at the present value of the future payments discounted at a market rate of interest. Financial liabilities classified as payable within one year are not amortised.

Debt instruments are subsequently carried at amortised cost, using the effective interest rate method.

Trade creditors are obligations to pay for goods or services that have been acquired in the ordinary course of operations from suppliers. Amounts payable are classified as current liabilities if payment is due within one year or less. If not, they are presented as non-current liabilities. Trade creditors are recognised initially at transaction price and subsequently measured at amortised cost using the effective interest method.

**Derecognition of financial liabilities.** Financial liabilities are derecognised when the Charity's contractual obligations expire or are discharged or cancelled.

## **(l) Employee benefits**

The cost of any unused holiday entitlement is recognised in the period in which the employee’s services are received.

Termination benefits are recognised immediately as an expense when the Charity is demonstrably committed to terminate the employment of an employee or to provide termination benefits.

Payments to defined contribution retirement benefit schemes are charged as an expense as they fall due.
