## REPORT OF THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31st OCTOBER 2020 

The Management Committee present their report for the year ended 31st October 2020 

## PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES 

The principal activity continued to be the raising of awareness of the failings within the current child protection system and campaigning for the reform of the system for the public benefit. 

## FINANCIAL REVIEW 

The Management Committee has examined the charity's requirements and are confident has sufficient reserves for its continuing operation, even though it has been challenging year. 

The impact of the Pandemic since March 2020 has taken its toll on the Charity at various levels but despite this the benefits to the community remain high on the Boards agenda and we will, despite all the ongoing challenges, continue to try to achieve the very higest standards expected of us by our users and the Charity Commissioners. 

## MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE’S RESPONSIBILITY IN RELATION TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS 

Law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the charity's financial activities during the year and of its finanancial position at the end of the year. In preparing those 

## Select suitable policies and apply them consistently 

Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent 

State whether applicable accounting standards of recommended practice have been departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements; and 

Prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to continue in operation. 

The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which any time the financial position of the charity, and comply with the Charities responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence taking reasonable steps for fraud and other irregularities.

Independent examiner's report to the trustees of The Victoria Climbie Foundation(UK) | report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Company for the year ended 31 October 2020. 

## Responsibilities and basis of report 

As the charity's trustees of the Company you are responsible for the preparation of accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 (" the 2006 Act"). 

Having satisfied myself that the accounts of the Company are not required to be audited under Part 16 of the 2006 Act and are eligible for independent examination, | report in respect of my examination of your charity's accounts as carried out under section 145 of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the 2011 Act’). In carrying out my examination | have followed all applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5) (b) of the 2011 Act. 

## Independent examiner's statement 

| have completed my examination, | confirm that no matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect : 

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Company as required by section 386 of the 2006 Act; or 2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or 

3. the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements of section 396 of the 2006 Act other than any requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of of an independent examination; or 

4. the accounts have not been prepared in accordance with the methods and principles of the Statement of Recommended Practice for accounting and reporting be charities applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102).

These accounts have been prepared in accordance with the provisions applicable to companies subject to the small companies regime and in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard for Smaller Entities (effective 2015) 

For the year ending 31 October 2020 the company was entitled to exemption under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies. 

The members have not required the company to obtain an audit in accordance with section 476 of the Companies Act 2006

1. ACCOUNTING POLICIES 

## Convention 

These accounts have been prepared in accordance with the historical cost convention and in accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practice "Accounting and Reporting by Charities" issued March 2005 (SORP 2005) and the Charities Act 2011. The principal policies which the partners have adopted within these conventions are set out below. 

## Revenue 

Income comprises of both grants and donations from local authorities, donations from individuals and fees for training and assessments conducted by the foundation. 

## Investment Policy 

The charity holds no long-term investments. Cash reserves are held in deposit accounts and any interest generated is expended through the charitable activities of the foundation. 

## Reserves Policy 

The charity will endeavourto accumulate a provision which may be required for essential expenditure or if there is a shortfall in donations or funding. 

## Restricted and Unrestricted Funds 

Restricted funds are subjected to restrictions on their expenditure imposed by the donor. 

## Depreciation 

Depreciation has been computed to write off the cost of tangible fixed assets over their expected useful lives using the following rates: 

Fixtures and fittings - 15% per annum reducing balance basis
