The Trustees serving during the year ended 31 October 2022, were as follows: Mr Simon Rowland-Jones Mr Barry Cheeseman Mr Michael Holley New Trustees, if required, are recruited informally on the basis of their related experience and their interest in the work of the Charity. Nominations are approved and appointed by the other Trustees and briefed accordingly. ## **OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES** The Charity’s objectives are to advance, encourage, develop and maintain public education, in appreciation and involvement in classical music, by promoting a festival of public concerts for public benefit. Furthermore, the Charity seeks to advance arts, especially classical music, by the provision of a public festival of music and lectures in North Norfolk. ## _**ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE**_ The 2022 Festival ran for one week and twelve concerts were given. There was a concert every evening and on four days there was an afternoon concert at 4pm in addition to the nightly concert at 7pm. Shortening the length of The Festival has several benefits – attendance at each concert was higher than usual and our ageing team of volunteers found it much easier. It also encouraged the audience to attend more performances over a shorter period, which added an exciting of sense of enjoyment and buzz to all the concerts. This year the Vicar of St Mary’s and the volunteers and Church Wardens took full responsibility for the layout in the church. This was done mainly to control the capacity, but an added benefit was that the church looked very well organised and orderly which added to the sense of occasion every night. Despite the shorter duration, we were still able to donate £3,000 to St Mary’s. Furthermore, the Church earned increased additional revenue from the hire of cushions as they doubled the cushion hire fee from 50p to £1! The audience did not seem to object. The combined total represents the largest source of outside income for the church, making NNMF the church’s most valued donor. The Festival got off to a wonderful start with a concert marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of Ralph Vaughan Williams and set the artistic bench mark for the next eleven concerts. We were also particularly happy to be able to bring pianist Alim Beisembayev, the winner of the 2021 Leeds International Piano Competition, to NNMF so soon after making such an impact on the musical world. Accordingly no account is taken of amounts payable or receivable at the period end. ## **2 Transactions with Trustees** The Charity does not have any employees. Mr B Cheeseman, Trustee, charged the Charity £3,000 for the use of his own home as accommodation and administration (2021: £Nil). Mr S Rowland-Jones, Trustee, charged the Charity £nil in respect of festival performances and masterclasses (2021: £3,450). During the year £nil was reimbursed to Trustees in respect of Trustees' expenses (2021: £NIL). ## **3 Other disclosure issues** The Charity has not given any guarantees charged or received a loan secured on any of its assets, or has at the year end any contingent liabilities. The Charity does not receive grants as a material part of its income. 3 # **INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES ON THE UNAUDITED ACCOUNTS OF NORTH NORFOLK MUSIC FESTIVAL** I report to the trustees on the examination of the accounts of the Charity for the year ended 31 October 2022 which are set out on pages 1 to 3. ## **Responsibilities and basis of report** As the trustees of the Charity you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’). I report in respect of my examination of the Charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. ## **Independent Examiners’ statement** I have completed my examination.
