## **STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT**
The Charity was established by a Declaration of Trust dated 17 March 2009 and was entered on the Central Register of Charities under Number 1128730 on 23 March 2009.
The Trustees serving during the year ended 31 October 2021, were as follows:

New Trustees, if required, are recruited informally on the basis of their related experience and their interest in the work of the Charity. Nominations are approved and appointed by the other Trustees and briefed accordingly.
## **OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES**
The Charity’s objectives are to advance, encourage, develop and maintain public education, in appreciation and involvement in classical music, by promoting a festival of public concerts for public benefit. Furthermore, the Charity seeks to advance arts, especially classical music, by the provision of a public festival of music and lectures in North Norfolk.
## **ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE**
After missing out with the full festival in 2020, the 16th NNMF returned with a busy concert schedule of no less than 19 concerts given between 10 - 21 August 2021- both dates inclusive. There were two concerts on most days and three concerts on two days. The Festival was preceded with three days of masterclasses, for string quartet and pianists. The young artists taking part in the masterclasses, two of which were open to the public for a charge of £5, performed in three concerts given as part of the main Festival. In keeping with our mission statement, the quartet and the pianists, all very young artists, received fees totalling £9,630.
This year’s NNMF was, in effect, a return to the original plan for the Festival - the only things missing were the pre-concert Festival suppers and a full bar in the interval. The intervals were shorter and social mingling was discouraged at the request of the Vicar.
By the time the Festival began there was a more relaxed approach to concert going, with restrictions, whilst still in place, greatly relaxed. The capacity at St Mary's was 170 but permission was granted for the audience at busier concerts to be seated in the chancel, adding a further 30 seats as a reduced price. This worked very well and so we are happy to announce that not a single booking was lost because of the reduced capacity. Many people who had purchased tickets did not in the end attend so we were able to sell some tickets twice over as no refunds were permitted unless in exceptional circumstances
The total box office revenue was £52,387.
A payment for the use of St Mary's of £3,600 was made.
Although many regulars did not attend the concerts, audiences were good with several concerts close to capacity as they were replaced by a new audience mostly made up of holidaymakers. North Norfolk was extremely busy this year for obvious reasons.

were al very Short noticè, which in lurn required the directors to re-plan prograrnrHes a5 well
as dealing with replacement musicians. Fortunately, we were able lo deal with each of the
changes efficiently without losing our ariistlc Values, SO thal, in the end, no conrts were

especially from The Friends of NNMF. The Festival's finanaal situation benefited hugely from
a donation by a City investment company., olle of the partners lives locally and they have
already don8ted again for 2022.
We were pleased thal we received a group of guests from Kirker HoSidays who
were determined lo travel at the first opportunity. Their contribution to the Box Office is aayS
wdcome.
FINANCIAL REVIEW AND RESERVES
The Receipts and Payments A(£ount of the Charity is set out on page 1.
Total reiptS for the year were £84,053 12020 £35,159). Unrèstricted reserves at the year-
end amounted to £46,37412020 £40,254).
As at 31 October 2021 the Charrty had total funds of £46,374 12ry20 £40,254). All were
unrestricted fund5. There is no formal reserves poIY in place.

The TtU5tees regularly review the main risks that rnay impact the Charity and implement
ion and safeguards lo mitigate those risks where necessary.

## **1 General notes**
Basis of accounting:
The accounts have been prepared on a receipts and payments basis. Accordingly no account is taken of amounts payable or receivable at the period end.
## **2 Transactions with Trustees**
The Charity does not have any employees.
During the year ended 31 October 2021 the following transactions occurred:
Mr S Rowland-Jones, Trustee, charged the Charity £3,450 in respect of festival performances and masterclasses (2020: £nil).
Mr B Cheeseman, Trustee, charged the Charity £nil for the use of his own home as accommodation and concert preparation (2020: £3,000).
During the year £nil was reimbursed to Trustees in respect of Trustees' expenses (2020: £NIL).
## **3 Other disclosure issues**
The Charity has not given any guarantees charged or received a loan secured on any of its assets, or has at the year end any contingent liabilities. The Charity does not receive grants as a material part of its income.

# **INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES ON THE UNAUDITED ACCOUNTS OF NORTH NORFOLK MUSIC FESTIVAL**
I report to the trustees on the examination of the accounts of the Charity for the year ended 31 October 2021 which are set out on pages 1 to 3.
## **Responsibilities and basis of report**
As the trustees of the Charity you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).
I report in respect of my examination of the Charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
## **Independent Examiners’ statement**
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or
2. the accounts do not accord with those records
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
