## Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document 

The purposes of the Methodist Church are and shall be deemed to have been since the Date of Union the advancement of: 

a) The Christian faith in accordance with the doctrinal standards and discipline of The Methodist Church; 

b) Any charitable purpose for the time being of any Connexional, District, Circuit. local or other organisation of The Methodist Church; 

c) Any charitable purpose for the time being of any society or institution subsidiary or ancillary to The Methodist Church; 

d) Any purpose for the time being of any charity being a charity subsidiary or ancillary to The Methodist Church. 

The Church exists to: 

- e Increase awareness of God's presence and to celebrate God's love e Help people to learn and grow as Christians, through mutual support and care e Become a good neighbour to people in need and to challenge injustice e Make more followers of Jesus Christ 

## Specifically, Trinity Methodist Church’s aims are: 

The provision of regular public acts of worship, open to all. The provision of sacred space for prayer and contemplation The teaching of Christianity through sermons and small groups Pastoral work including visiting the sick and bereaved Provision of youth organisations with a Christian ethos Supporting other charities in the UK and overseas financially and with prayer.

Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit) 

We confirm the trustees had regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit 

Trinity provides worship services in a range of styles. These include Sunday morning services at 10.45 and monthly early morning communion. All these services are publicised widely and are open to all. 

As well as regular services, the church holds Christenings, Weddings and Funerals. It holds special events to encourage contemplation, such as at Christmas, Lent and Easter with extra services. These are open to all and are publicised around the town and wider area.

The church also encourages attendance of house groups to allow church members and anyone else who is interested to study the bible more deeply and encourage fellowship. 

There is a pastoral system so that all who attend the church have a pastoral contact, who can visit them, communicate any needs to the ministry team and keep everyone informed of[church][events.] The minister and pastoral team visit those who are sick, bereaved or in need of help. This extends to any who have links to the church and may wish for a visit. The church is often open on a Saturday morning for anyone to come along for coffee and a chat. We are working on opening more Saturday mornings now Covid is dying down. 

There is a fortnightly fellowship group and a weekly badminton group which are open to church members and the wider community and offer chances for people to meet in a more informal setting. Fellowship is currently taking place by more informal methods, such as distanced small group meetings and by phone. 

The church has a strong Boys Brigade, Girls Brigade and toddler group. All have Christian leadership and are open to all. It also provides a weekly Sunday School and creche during the morning service. The Church gives to a range of charities, both in the UK and overseas. The young people within the church collect money for JMA, passing the proceeds to overseas missions. Trinity allows and encourages local charities to hold Saturday coffee mornings to raise money for their funds. 

## SECTION D ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE 

## Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year 

: 

The year has been a challenging one, as with many charities, as things calm down after Covid. 

Sunday services have become more regular. Junior Church and creche have restarted. 

The Loughborough Chinese Methodist Church have moved into the building, with services starting at 1ipm on a Sunday. The two congregations are starting to build relationships. Small groups from each Church have been meeting for group sessions to assist with learning English. 



Trinity has also been exploring building closer relationships with the local Baptist and URC Churches. This has involved joint services at Christmas and Good Friday plus sessions where we have explored the traditions of each denomination. 

Coffee mornings have restarted on a Saturday morning. In the summer, we held monthly Open Gardens to allow the congregation to meet socially. House groups also got going again in person. 

Various Church groups got back to normal, with Girls Brigade, Boys Brigade and Toddler group open to all who want to attend. 

More groups are using the building and its facilities. A local table-top games group moved in, as did a dance group. Smart Arts, a holiday club for children with special needs have been using the building during school holidays. We have hosted special events, such as drama about life in prison organised with the Quakers. Various choirs also use the building and have hosted fundraising concerts. 

Some of the Saturday coffee mornings have raised money for outside Charities, including Wateraid, MHA and the local food bank. Other special collections have been for Jars of Change and Christian Aid.

At present, trustees are trying to keep general reserves at over £20,000, which represents less than 3 months expenditure.
