Accessibilty & Inclusion
Dance 81ast has inclusion at its core.
Disability access
Dance Blast endeavours to provhje adequate support for any partithp8nts additional
needs to loin in any ol our open access classes., in partscular by using adult volunteers and our more experienced
youth Llancers in support¢ng roles. For our disabled d8nceYs and8erialists who require a more tailored class to meet
their needs, we have our Diversability Programme of dance and aerial arcus sessions. In 2024125 Dan￿ Blast
provsded 9 Diversability d85ses. in Abergavenny. Monmouth and chepst￿￿. 11 remains our aim lo increase the
number of children with additional needs attending our open access dasses. We continue to offer a Z(y)m option for
our open access danceability cJas5e5, rf required by participants who are unable lo Come into the studio.

Dance Blast prowdes fitness dasses parbcularfy suitable for active older adults. We also work in partnership with 4
indniidual care homes in the arèa who transport dancers to Tho Dants Centr6 for our dan¢eability classes. In 20241

Blast continues lo provide both junior and youth 'Boys onll dance dasses. led by male dancers. This year, we hav8
4 boys dancing in our flagship youlh dancg company MYDC.
Outreach
Thanks to Arts Council funding to employ an outreach facilitator on a .5 contract for l yr.
Dan¢e Blast has increased our Outreach provisK)n in 24125. We have successfully reinststed our prtrCOVID after
schod classes al Cross Ash and Over Monnow Primary Sch¢)ol. We also provided regular activities by working in
partn8rship with'.'Building Brid￿s. who provide activiti'es. for young people with add￿.0ftaI negds aged between 14
and 25 in Monmouthshire. 'QB' l Quest BusteTsI who provide aclivilies for young people with additlDnal needs aged
beN¥een 8 and 14 in Monmouthshire and 'Sparkle', a Gwent based organisallon sUppO￿.ng disabled children and
their families. Workshops werg provided at'Penmaes', a ￿h0o1 in Bre￿n. "Penmaes. provides specialist education
for pupils aged 3-19 with a wide range of comptex Additional Leaming Needs IALNI. Students from National Stsr
college attended a weekly DaneÈability class al Dance Blast. Natsonal Star is a provider of specialist further
education for people with physical and leaming disabilities and acquired brain injuries. Plans We￿ put in place lo
provide Have A Go Aerial activities for community members over the Summer of 2025 and our partnership with
Abergavenny Community Enterprise was nurtured with the aim of providing a social circus for ￿idents of Mardy in

performance possibilities.
MYCC.. Monmouthshire Youth Circus Company mainiains ils repUtalK￿ for good qualty ￿$nIem￿r3ry orcus w7th
12 regular members in 24125 aged 11 to 16. MYCC continues lo
work with Elle Kate as their ￿gUlar Director.
AIYDC.. In 24125 Monmouthshire Youth Dance Company consisted of a foundation group of ten 8 to 11 year olds.
an inlemiediate youth group of ten 12 to 16 yr olds plus an adVan￿d youth group of six 12 to 16 yr olds. MYDC
onlinues lo work with Kirn Noble as their regular thoreographer. Thrge of our young dancers from MYDC danced
with National DarKe Company Wales assoaates during 202415
MCDC.. Monmouthshire Connected Dan￿ Company 15 Dan￿ Blasl's adult, indusive dance company. MCDC
meets regularly at our Abergavenny base with 13 regular partiupants and enjoys maslerdasses and perf0m￿nCe
projects alongslde the youth company when fijnding allows. Our Chepstow based dancers are invited to join us in

To thè Sea, Penarth, Splalch Splalc.. Both our youth companies, circus and dance, were invited back to perfonn at
the 'To the Sea. festival in Penarth. This yeaf, the weather was battar and everyone got lo perfom. induding our
foundation darKe group18 to 11 yisl. This was the first time the foundati￿ group perfom)ed in an external event for
Dance Blast. Our contribution included Aerial performance. hanging from the trees, walkaboLbt. dano% and acro in

'UDancg, Llverpool 2024." MYDC was also chosen to represent Wales lor the U Danc£ National Youth Dance
Festival organlsed by One Dance UK.
AbergavènnyArts Festlval.. MYDC, MYCC and our advanced Slreetdancers Atomic, all performed at Ihe festNal
and Dance Blasl provided 'Have A Go. sessions in aerial cirojs and street dance.
'Inspirn'Arts Councll fvnd¢d project.. Dance Blast was fortunate to receive further funding from the Arts Council
of Wales for a yaar-long project. This project was in partnership with Abergavenny CaS￿e and museum. We
performed in Abèrgavenny castte grourKJs over the East8r weekend of 2025. The projo¢¢ induded a commissio
from dance theatre company 'Joli ￿ann. who choreographed for MYDC and Kevin Tumar, Artistic Dir8¢tor of
Company Chameleon, who choreographed an indusive piece with MCDC and MYDC members. There were
additional performances from MYCC, MCDC and MYCC choreographedldirecled by their own Arts'stic Directors. The
project also in¢lu(Sed performances by Lxjr advanced street dances 'Alomic', Chepstow D8nceAbllity group and our
boys youth group '8oys Blast,. It was a very successful event that introduced stil￿al￿n9 to the ￿pertoire of our
youth circus company. MYCC. They learnt lo slilhvalk and Worked wrth theatre and circus designer, Rhi Matthews lo
design and make stilt (x)slumes. Thè theme of the project was 'lnspire'; the pieces and characters ￿ated fi)r the
eV8nt were mosdy Insplred by local histoncal characlers after rgsearch visrts lo the museum. As part of the 'lnspire'
process. MYDC and MYCC enjoy8d workshop auditions with eight hbgh quality piofes&onal dance artists trom
across the county.

Crè•tlve Firturos Project
Dance Blast continued to work in partnership whh The Borough Theatre and Mdvllle Centre for the Arts lo deliver
Ihe Creative Futurès project funded by The Social Prosperity Fund ISPF}. enabling the young people of
Abergavenny to have their say using 8 Variety of artfoim5, induding dance. The young technicians from the 23124
project retumed lo work as stage managers for our Inspire project al Abergavenny Casue.

Dance Blast continued to support professional A￿sts with studio space when possible induding.. Gabriella, Krystal
Lowe, Jessie Brett. Charfie Whrte, Bee Kifkwood, Catherine Wynne Paton.

Dance Blast used the ACW Night Out Scheme lo host SHED by Northem Rascals in March 2025.
Welsh Policy
Dance Blast's Welsh PfAicy became a stsnding item on th6 Trustee Board Agend8. Our website was made bi-lingual
and a commitment to promotè Welsh language and Culture was made. Welsh Ambassa(lors were eslablished
amongst the staff and y04Jng pèoplg.
Envlronmental Pollcy
Dance Blast's Environmenlal policy became a standing item on the Trustee Board agenda wth a gjmmitmenl to
make every effort to decrease our environmental footprint.

As 8XP8Cted, Dance Blast received a further (yjt in funding for our main fijnder Monmouthshire County Councl. We
received 2 Cr8at8 grants from Arts Counul of Wales in 202415 for our youth and disability pr(¥3ramm9S, through the
Inspire prolect and for our outreach programme indLKling a .5 outreach post for 12 months. Dance Blast received
additional funds Ihrough a lega¢y gift in 202415. Adding these a￿d￿onal funds lo our income from regular
partiapants and hires. Dance 8lasl is therefore in a sustainable position for the coming year
R8serv&s policy
It is the policy of the Charity that unrestricted fijnds which have not been designated for a specific use should be
maintained at a level equn181ent lo between th￿e and six month's expenditure. The Trustees consider that reseryes
at this level VAII ensure that, In th& event of a significant drop in funding, they will ￿ able to continue the Charity's
current activities while considèration is given lo ways in which a¢Jdition81 funds may be raise(l. This level of reserves
has been maintained throughout the year.

1.1 Basis of preparatlon
The financi815tatements have been prepared in accordance wrth the Chartys governing do¢ument. the
Companies Act 2006, FRS 102 Yhe Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Rèpublic of
Ifdand. and the Charsties SORP 'Accounling an¢J Reporting by Charities-. Ststemgnt of Rgcommended
Practice applicable to tharities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireiand (FRS 102).. The Ch8rity is a Publi¢ 8enefil Entity as defined by
FRS 102.
The Charfty has laken advanlage of the provisions in the SORP for charities not to prepare a statement of
cash ftows.
The financi81 statements are prepafed in sterfing. whith is the funclional currency of the Charity. Monatary
amounts in these financA81 statements are rounded to the nearest £.
T￿ financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention, Imodrfied lo include the
revaluation of freehold properties and to include investment propert195 and certain financial instruments al fair
valuel. The pri￿1paI accounting policies adopted are set out below.
1.2 Golng concern
Al the b.me ol approving the finarrial slatsments, the Trustees have a reasonable expectation that the Charity
has adequate resourcés to contsnue in operatsonal e￿Stence for the foreseeable future. Thus the Tfuslees
continue to adopt the going concem basis of accounting in preparing the )Inan(ial stslements.
1.3 Charrtable funds
Unrestricted funds are available for use at the disuetK)n of the Trustees in fvrtherance of Iheir thaiTtable
ots'ectives.
Restricted funds are subj9¢1 to speufic conditions by th)nors or grantors as to how they may be used. The
purF¥)ses ano uses of th8 restricted funds are sel out in the notes lo the finanrial ststgmenls.
ErKlowmenl funds are subjocl to spectfic ¢x)nditions by donors that the capital musl be maintained by the
Charity.
1.4 Income
Income is Tecognised when the Charity is legally entilèd to it after any perfom)8nce condrtions have been
mel, the amounts (3n be ￿￿aSUred reliably, and It is proba￿8 that income wll b6 received.
Cash ¢Jonations are recognised on re￿ipt. Other donations are recognised once the Charity has been rwtified
of the donation. unless perfomiance conditions require deferral of the amount. Income tax recovèrable in
relation lo donab'ons received under GiftAid or deeds of covenant is recognised at the time of the donation.
Legacies are recognised on receipt or otherwise rf th8 Ch8rfty has been notified of an impending distribullon.
