Chalr Persons Report
This has proven to be ar￿ther busy year for the 1st moUnt9)r￿1 Scout Group but On￿ again
successfvl one with the children and young people come abr8 to our settions all the way from
the smallest squirrels all the way to our teenage scouts who gain so much from it. Also, as a parent
has had lor will have} chlldren in all of those 5ect*)ns it continues to be a real asset to have in our
local community and l think I speak on behalfof all the Trnstee committee membersand parents when
l say a massive thank you for the continued commitment and tirne of our section leaders and youn8
leaders who 8Ne up time from their own busy Irves to give our youn8 people such r5th experlences
they will remember until ihey a￿ as old as some of u5.
I would ?150 like to thank the parents who come along to help with actNltles and trips and would
encoura8e anyone who at the end of a session thought "l ￿allY enjoyed thaf consider becoming a
5ectM)n volunteer, a plea that you heard last year and will undoubtedfy and unashamedty ￿ar again
as we move forward. A number of parents have thi5 year which ts a real boost I would also like to
thank the other Trustee's for theirtkn and sUPPOrted behlnd the S￿ne$.
In our fl￿ ￿ar Sn a shift to a trustee 8o%tmance framework has meant than8es to roles, processes
and bringing Mountsorrel Inline with the rest of the county and country in how Scouts is ran but I think
we are getting there and it feels like a good platfonn to keep the group moving forward. I hope you
see that reflected in the Section leaders updates as well as from our treasurer.
But what a year 2024 was and 2025 kloks to be. Scouts sent two teams to the county Rambling Fox
event whkh they ￿p￿sented the group ma8nfficentty well a5 raisin8 money through supporting the
Mountsorrel Revival festival last Au8USt. Cubs have been on a winter camp, numerous aCt￿ltIeS and
still have a summer camp ar￿ a stsy at the Blackpool tower to look forward to. SqUIr￿ls contlnue to
go from St￿n8th to strength which included a day at Fox Coverts Mth other drays from the dlstrirt as
well a5 an Otympics style event at Martin High School too. whkh of course they came first place In.
8eaver5 too are alway5 busy, you will see them around the vllEaBe often as well as taking part in
numerous actlvities as I see the leaders on a Wednesday nlght takin8 more and more elaborate stuff
into the hall to make the rneetings as fun as posslble.
We contlnue lo fundraise and consider improvements to the scout hut follow1￿ the extensfve work
on the roof last year. We have b0￿ht a new shed to Sto￿ equlpment better, Installed a better heatin8
system and next are considering the toliets. All this and the upkeep requi￿ u5 to continue to fundraise
and one of our best opwrtunrtie5 tor that is to support 'RevpiaY. We raised over £9LXI last Au8USt so
please rf you can spare u5 a couple of hours to help this year let us knowl Also. look out for us in the
Mountsorrel Post to see what are up to In the comin8 rnontts as tske over column Inches.
Once again. t￿nkS for all the support over the past year and we look forward to another successful
year of scoutlng in Mountsorrel.

Group Lead Volunteers Report 2025
Over the past year Scouting, In generdl has rnoved on to a new way of orKanising itseff. With changes
to the way the group is managed. Starting with the change this tfme last year for the back office team
moving from belng Execuifve memberstt> Trustees in line with other charitles. The leaders are now
Team members V4Drklr6 together to allow a more flexible approach, 8Mng adult volunteers who
have tlme ￿$trIc￿on5. but still wish to partlcipate. the flexibility to give thelr tSme when they can.
Thi5 means that with ffl0￿ leader5 available, pa￿nts1 support and occasional helpers we can do
more for the young people.
Squlrrels. Caroline ha5 made our thrlying Squirrel Drry become the leading Drey of the distrfcL glvlr
a young person a start to their Scothn8 ioumey.
Beavers. Allson has expanded the Be￿r team, the colory is having an exriting time, Wfth trips out
& having gained her ni8hts away pennil taking the Beavers on skepovers. The feedback 15 that thls
yearfs Motherfs Day sleepobtr 7hps well received by Mounts0r￿ Mumk
The Cubs. Karl & Carol hwe kept the Cubs I￿sY thro￿hOUt year with excitin8 acthiibes and learning
lots of new skills. ready they are ea8er to tske on the knuts at campin8.
The Scouts Have also had a buw Tr*ar with a cha￿e of leadership. So please 81%* a warrn *Elcome to
Ga￿th. With a mo%e back to baslcs & Scoutlng skills. plenty of cookin& knots & map ￿ading, so
when you are105t without Google maps. just ask yY)ur Scout to map ￿ad for you!
The Scouts will finish the year on Camp, this will be the first in a nurnber of years, and they wlll
get the chance to show the Cubs how ivs done.
Within the Group. this is section thal needs addlt5onal adult input moving forward. enabling the
section to do more. This means we Slfll have an excitirE opportunltles to Join Gareth and make their
mark. If you think can gfve up some time & would Ilke to pass on knowledge & experience
to a group of excltlng youn8 peopk. Please come & talk to us.
To finish all leadets & helpers do so voluntsry and wlthout all thelr hard work none of this would be
possible. without them the group simply would not exist. So. a bi8 thanks from all the YOUD8 people.
Please if you can spare a blt of your valuable tlme to & would like to help. either dioctly with the
young people or on the Trustees board. Please lalk to any of the leaders or Tnthe members, either
