The appointment of PCC members is govemed by and set out in the Church Representation Rules. The PCC met six times during 2024 and received reports from PCC sU￿COmmItteeS and bw)rking groups. Achievements and Perfomiance Buildings and Churchyard The required inspections were carried ¢JUt in the church and chapel and any resultant remedial measures undertaken. Following an application made by the church eco group. the church recèived a Silver Award as part of the eco-thurch scheme. The churth again hosted a Heritage Day in September, ￿lch highlighted the work of ec< church, particularly in the churchyard, and included a display by the miC￿eham and Westhumble Local History Group about the A24. Various musical everrts were also held includiro the ever-popular Sundays at Six, Mickleham Choral Society's Summer Concert and Remembrance Concert as w811 as the Lorem Ipsum Singers as part of the Dorking Town Twinning Association progRmme of events. In addition to the designated children's area in the North aisle, a creche began in the vesty that young 1*ildren and parents a￿ invited to make use of during communion servI￿s. The church remalns open every day, with guide leaflets available for visitors- bthaen 5 and 25 of thom sign the visitors ￿0k each week- who, from their comments, dearly appreciate beino 8ble to spend time in our historic and peaceful church. Mission and Outward Giving Donations to a range of charit18s made in accordance with PCC pollcy. with particular ft)cus on St. Michael's School and local organisations including The Meeting Room, Joe's Buddy Line and Leatherhead Youth Project, while the Priesys Discretionary fund was used to help members of the village and church community in need. Donation$ ware also given to other bodies including The Children's Society. The Royal British Legion, The Red Cross and other national charities. There is also a growing donation by parishioners of items to the local Food Bank Schools St. Michael's School is a Church of England Voluntary Aided school. Regular assemblies are held with the priest in attendance in the school and IWi￿ a term in Church. Workshops wer8 held for Mothering Sunday, Harvest and Christingle and church servic6S lebrated these festivals. Slaff and students from Box Hill School attended services in church, including the first Flag Day service since 2019, Leavers Day. and Carol Concerts. Work continues to strengthen relationships, and this can be seen in the frequency with which the ¢hurch is used by both schools. Statlstics During 2024 the￿ were 8 baptisms, 5 weddings, 1 vow renewal, 6 funerals, 2 memorial seNices and 4 separate interments of ashes. Average Sunday attendano was 83 plus an average of S attending via Zoom. At the Easter Sunday servica 107 people attended in person and at the Christrnas servlces 193 peoplé att8nded. GOODS AND ORNAMENTS OF THE PARISH CHURCH AND CHAPEL OF EASE The Church Following on from the Quinquennial report, the bells and frames at the church Unde￿e[rt some maintenance in January by the company installed them 100 years ago. January unfortunately also saw the theft of lead frorn the vesty roof, which was rBplaced in March. As part of the Energy Audit commissioned by the Eco Group, the project to repla￿ the lights in the building with more energy-efficient and longer lasting LEDS was begun in the North aisle and Norbury Chapel. The automatic winder and pendulum regulator for the clock were installed in September, brfnging John Wnn's 17 years of service manually carrying out this opeption lo an end. Churchyard The churthyard is increasingly being managed wrth advice and guidance from the Eco Group, a sub-group of the PCC, in an environmentally friendly manner wth reduced mowing in some areas to encourage local flora and fauna and hedge planting on the boundaries of the churchyard extension. The seasonal pond was introduced and more trees plantad. Following an annual inspection, three memorial headstones were repaired by a local stonemason and several graves deared of encroaching vegetstion. The Chapel Infrared heating and W-FI were successfully installed and miTh)r redecoration of the Narthex eiling following a small lea Log Book and Inventory The Log Book, Inventory and Te￿ier are up tr) date. As of December 2024, 45 donors had subscribed to the very efficient Parish Giving Scheme ("PGS°). Mornhty giving via the PGS (inclusive of lax recvveries) had increased, by tP7o end of 2024, 10 £4,210 (as cornpared to £3,566 ai the end of2023). Total annual planned giving via the PGS, Standing Order and other regular bank payments had increased from £41,038 to £46,955 {exduding tax recovered) Total unrestricted inwme from inwards giving, including planned giving, plate collections, donations via the Paya2 card machine, tax recovered, an(1 other generous donations, increased from £63,355 to £77,880. In addition, collections for specific charitable causes, and donations for rèstricted purF)0SOS {indudin9 the clock appeal- see further below), have totalled £11,871. There has also been an in¢yeas8 in income from fundraising activit16s, including money raised by Church Community Group ("CCG") events (on which the CCG WTII report separately), and a further £8,128 (exclusive of lax rets)veries) raised towards the Churd7 crock appeal. Fees from weddings and funerals totalled £7,9691together with an additional £1,120 raised by way of Choir fees). Investment income from the Endowrnent Fund was £32,4e6 la slight incTease on the 2023 figure of £30,711). Tuming from receipts to expenditure, OU￿ardS giving included donalions followng a number of collections for particular charitable causes, such as the DAC Gaza/Middle East appeals, and, closer lo home, a fvrther annual donalion of £5,000 to Sl Michael's School, and donations to LealherHead Start, The Meeting Room, the Dorkng Food Bank, The Royal British Legion and the Children's Socrety. Everyday expenses in 2024, including the annual Parish Share (£35,852) and other Ministry sts, Church running an¢J maintenano, mana9emenl and administration, were substantially higherthan in 2023 - £77,446 as cOMpa￿d lo £71,386. This was due in large part to intteas6d utility cDsts, induding a substantial inTrase in Chapel healing and lighting ojsls due to issues with Chapel heating in the eariy part of 2024- issues that will hopefully not arise in the future following the inslgllation of the new Chapel heating system. Project expenses in 2024 inciuded £11,704 (£9,'229 net of VAn for the aut¢Jmaiion oi the Chu¥Eh clock ancl £5,771 {£4.809 net of VAT) for the installation of the new Chapel healing system {figures as shown in the SOFA accounts are indusive ef 20 /0 VAT, bul VAT lolalling £3,190 on these and otherwort(s was recOVe￿d under HMG'S Listed Places of Worship Scheme, which has been renewed lor another finanaal year to April 2026, bul the futu￿ of which is ￿n￿rtain afterthal). intention being to use this towards further work on the Church clock, such as the ￿d6¢Or￿1¢0n and ￿glIding of the clock fa￿ as rec£)mmended by the 2023 Quinquennial inspection. The Parish Magazine accounts show a small loss, instead of the usual profit, but this is accounted for by the transfer of £2.000 by way of contribution towards th& dock appeal. Induded for the first lime in the PCC Accounts are records of inwme and expenditurè from an annual payment made lo the Parish by the Henry Smith national charity, for Ihe purpose of making charitable grants. This grdnt money is administered by a committee (including the Parish Priest) who now report annually to the PCC, and provide the Trnasurer and Independent Examiner with appropriate bank and other financial infomation. Further details of income and expenditu￿ are shown in the a¢zompanying Statement af Fin8nc4al Activities. The 2024 year-end balanc6 carried forward on the Unrestncted Fund, induding a balance of £7,845 held on tre Parish Magazine Acmunt, ￿d$ £63,606 (as compared to a balance of £33,781 at the end of 2023). The Expendable Endowment Fund, Set up in 2009 followng the generous donation of£600,000 by The Ranmore Charitable T￿$1 land held on the tems of a Dedaralion of Trust recorded in PCC Minutes of 11 May 2009), remains split be￿en fvnd$ managed by CCLA Investrnent Management Ltd.. £500,000 was invested in July 2010 in the CBF Church of England Investment Fund- value al the end ol December2024, £1,114,626,. value at the énd of FebNary 2025. £1,131,348., the £100,000 baianc* was investsd in the interest-bearing CBF Church of England Depo$il Fund, which, followin9 Withdrawals in 2019 and 2022 to help pay for capital p￿jeCts, remains at £20,000. The Sl, Michael's Fund, established in 2010, again due lo the g6nerosity of The Ranmore Charitable Trusc continues to be held partly in a CBF Churth of England Deposit Fund, and partly in the CBF Church of England Investment Fund. It 1$ to be used, at the discretion of the Parish Priost (subject to annual expenditure limits), for the benefit of the needy of, or having sufficient connection ￿h, tre Partsh or local communities. The combined cash and investment value oflhe Fund at the end of2024 was £48,068. Reserves Policy It is PCC poli(¥ to maintain (rf possible) a balan￿ of unrestricted fvnds whith equates to at least 750 /¢ of unr8Stricted payments, to cover emergency situations and changes in arcumstances that may arise from time lo lime. Reductions in capital expenditure since 2023 have enabled the PCC to make good progress towards restoring ￿ch a balance.
