## **Vicar’s Report 2022 APCM**
## **St Paul’s Church Report**
As a church we have been ticking over at a comfortable steady pace for the first 6 months of 2022 before we got a new team curate Rev Mark Orrell in June and then Rev Joe Magill being licenced a Team Vicar at the end August. Although the new clergy team is in its infancy things have very slowly started to move froward within our life and worship.
We do have a couple of prayer triplets who meet during the month to focus on Prayer with June White and Debbie Doran putting a monthly prayer diary together to focus om prayer points for the month, we have tried to hold Monthly Prayer meetings as the Parr Team but sadly this proved to be not so popular. We do open the church each Monday between 6.00pm-7.00pm for people to join together to pray.
During 2022 the Children ministry has not been as active as they have in previous year’s as I feel we are still feeling the effects of the lockdown with leaders/helpers treading cautiously. However they have been instrumental in the team in being part of the schools ministry team and helping to set up and run the breakfast club at St Philips.
We have held Messy Good Friday and Messy Christmas for families within our community and at Harvest we invited St Mary’s School over to St Paul’s to be part of an Experience Harvest activity and 6 classes from St Mary’s came over to take park. On the Saturday morning of the same week we opened this up to the community and provided breakfast. At Christmas we invited the community to a social / Christmas tree light switch on, were we shared food, craft and carol singing around the Christmas tree as we turned the Christmas Tree lights on.
In November we opened the Church up on a Friday afternoon for the community providing a warm hub where people of our community could come along to share food and stories in a warm environment.
St Paul’s PCC / Church did take the vote to join Fit For Mission and over the next 12 months we will have to work towards being a Fit For Mission Church, which will mean that we have to be open God to help us to negotiate this journey and help us to look at worship and mission and the new opportunities that will come our way. This hopefully will give us more opportunities to grow in our faith but also to help those in our communities find faith.
On a personal level I would like to thank, St Paul’s Readers for all their help and support in taking Sunday Services and to St Paul’s PCC for their loyal management and commitment to St Paul’s Church.
## **Parr Team**
The past 12 months as been challenging for us as the Parr Team but also for the Deanery of St Helens as we have explored what the Fit For Mission Project that the Diocese of Liverpool is rolling out will mean for us.
Each PCC within the Parr Team have given this much prayer, time and consideration and needed to consider if each churches joined the Fit For Mission project which means all or stayed as you are. As the Parr Team, St Philips and St Pauls voted to join Fit For Mission and St Peters voted to stay independent.
As the Clergy Team the biggest challenge in 2023 is how we prepare the St Philips and St Paul’s to be in a good place to join the Fit For Mission and how do we prepare St Peters to be in a good position to stand alone.
In June we welcomed Rev Mark Orrell as the Parr Team Curate, Mark will be with us for the next 3 years, in August we welcomed our new the Parr Team Vicar and his family Joe Magill, Naomi and Isabella and most recently Chloe.
We have kept the 5[th] Sunday of each month Sunday Morning Worship Services as a Team Service, these services have been a great blessing to all 3 Churches and has enable us to get to know each other better and continue our walk with God together.
This year the Parr Team School Ministry Team has visited the local schools and the school have visited the Churches. We have continued to help with delivering the R.E. curriculum for infants and Junior children at Allanson street and Board Oak Schools. In October we were also given the opportunity to work with St Mary’s Catholic School, Blackbrook focusing on Harvest.
During the months leading up to Christmas the Parr Team raised monies to help / support needy families within our Parish’s over the Christmas period, by suppling food items for a Christmas meal. As team we raised over £1,115 which meant we was able to help 25 needy families, this was supported by the 3 local primary school within the Parr Team. Families who received hampers were extremely grateful for the help over what is a very stretching time for family budgets.
From November all 3 churches opened up their churches to offer a warm space for people to come along, spend some time over a cuppa and light refreshments.
In September we started Breakfast Club once per month based at St Philips, this has been greatly received by all those who come and the bacon butties are scrumptious. Alongside this during each of the school holidays we run a family food and fun session where families are fed, take part in activities and are given some food to take away to help them feed their family during the school holiday period.
All in all God has really blessed us and we look forward to what is yet to come.
