Objectives and activities
The property and Tts income is to be used for the benefit of the residenls
of GalleYW(￿ and Ihe surrounding areas by associaling together the
inhabitants, local authorities. voluntary and other organisations in a
common effort to advance educalion. in particular about the l(tal 8rea.
The facili￿eS are to be used as a heritage and community centre for
recreation and leisure acb'vities to imwove the sccial welfare and quality
of lrfe of the said residents.

The Heritage Centre holds historical archives donated by residents and
organised by our volunteer archivists: these are available for anyone
interested to consurt. In addition. public exhibitions are mounted several
times a year on matters of I￿al interest. The archive group also
organises regular talks about matters of interest lo residents, and the
Centre hosts monthly meetings of the Essex Society for Family History.
The Heritage Centre is used by many local groups for educational and
recreational activibes. and by residents for special events such as family
parties.

In 2023 the Hentage Centre continued hc4ding regular exhibitions, talks.
guided walks, famity fun days. and other fund-raising activlties on top of
our hiring. The Centre has recovered entirely from previous signrficanlly
impacted trading years to retum a surplus.

plays a key role in SUPForting the centre. This year th8 fundraising

The Trustees ¢(￿tinue lo face challenges in maintsining the buildings;
the main building is now almost 100 years old. Currently we continue to
have electrical pha￿ng concems under investigation, and we are seeking
advice on improving our healing ￿tentIOn in the main building by
improving the windows.
Twstees will continue lo seek income OPkX)rtunrties, grant funding and
development of more communty events lo provide the funding for the
sustainabilty of the trust, for improvements and for on-going
maintenance works r8sloration, to support heritage and community
purpN)ses.
