The PCC is keen to offer two seNi£es each week.
The 8am BDok of Comrllon Prayer IBCPI is è communion service which is falthfully attended bv
an èvera8e of 12 peaple each week, This 5s 8 sald service usvally led by a robed rninlster. At
9.30am we hold our Family Servlce. This is attended by an average of 4D re8ulèrs plus the
occasional tourlst. The avera8e attendance ha5 increased since the commencement Df the new
Inrumbent. The 9.30am service includes some liturgy, prayer and 8ible readings wjlth live 8ultar
led worshlp. Holy Communion15 included twice a month. We are able tu offer refreshments and
individual prayer after all services. Th5s Is a wtsl part ot our fellowship.
Ourlns the interregnum lJanuaf¥ to Ausustl, we wère ¥reatly blessed by not On￿ our Curate but
Iso by visitinE clergy from other Church of Enaland churches In the Bay, a5 well as the Areo
Dean. Archdeaton of Totnes ènd the Bishup of Plymouth. We are grateful for their support
dudng this tlme. Our Curate had to leave us In Aprll to continue her tralnlng in the nearby Pèr15h.
Thi5 enabled her to receive the vital support she needed. The PCC are Bratefvl for whai she was
able to do amon8 U5.
As well 05 our re8ul•r serylces, we enable eur ¢ornmunlty to relebrate and thank God for the
mlle5tcnes ol thelr journey through life. Ourln8 the year there ha5 been a lew bapt15ms, And 9
funera1518 in 2D231, At present there are 45 160 sn 20231 parlshloners on the Electoral Roll.
Since September, we have been developSn8 our mlnlstry to those whp are housebound. Rev Glll
Klmber ènd Rev Geoff Klmber havelolned u5 a5 a team to 5UPPOrt Us In developln8 thls mln15try.
Each Frlday mornln8 a Zoom prayer meetln81s held, hosted by our licensed Lay minlster. It Is •
spacp that Is open to all and ranges from 9 In attendance to nearly IS at Its peak.
At the beglnnlng of the year, two house¥roups met. one on an •ltemate Tuesday evenlng and
one weekly on a Wednesday morninq. 80th ton8re8atlons were Inte6rated and encouraqed
through thls, The Tuesday group stopped meetlna In a house in July but sincE September have 411
been encouraged to rneet In the Church a5 we reiroup every last Tuesday of the rnonth.
Churrh Fubrlc
After terrlblt floodlni of the church hall and tar park In 2023, major work on draln clearance
toak place. The maln hall floor wa5 subsequently re-pollshed as well. The cherry trees in the field
were pruned and ditto ihe Garden of Rernembranre tree5 and bushes. The rnain church healin8
System was flushed through and Serviced. In addltlon, radlator5 to the ¢hurch hall were cleaned
and overhauled, wlth a timer Installed ta better cantrol use of heot energy. The Vestry was
redecorared after 25 yEar5 for the new Incumbent. In October, we Suffered a brtak in. We were
one of sever31 churches In thp Bay impacted in this vlay. Serlous thought ha5 been given by the
PCC a5 to In5tallin8 CCTV and1I8htlng to Improve securlty 202S.

Remembrance
St Paul's joined our sister church Ichdst Churchl in a service where we
remembered all those who lost thelr lives durin8 thè wars.

Zoom Pioneer Parishe5 First Step5 CoursE was well attended by the PCC in
October/November. Thi5 was very inspSrln8. The PCC took $teps then to inwte Trevor ond Holly
james as our Pioneer ministers.
Light Party- thi5 was held at our slster church (Christ Churchl thls year. The two churches had
thè pleasure of welcomin& nearly 9Q ¢hildren and their farnilles. It was the f)r5t tlme in a long
whlle to welcDme such nurnbers and envision what the future rn18ht hDld for u5.
Preston Primary Scheol en8aEement With theloinln8 of the new Vicar. the PCC has contlnued
St Paul's Strong relatlonshlp wlth the locol school. The Vlcar has vi51ted on sevèral octa5ion5 to
dellvpr a55ernblles whlch have been well recelved. 51 Paul's Licensed Lay Mlnlster lolned the
governln8 body of the school.
Second Steps PfÈ-School and St Paul's ¢hur¢h have continued to to cultbv•te a stronser
relation5h¢p through re8ular mornin8 prayer and Scheduled meeting5 on a fortnlghtly basls wlth
the leadershlp and, a Mondèy for a 30 mlnute o55embly wlth the chlldren.

Servlce. Otherlolnt 5ervlces were hosted at St Paul's whlch were well attended. Icrlb 5ervlce and

None of thls would have happened wilhoul the dedlcated support of our wonderful team ol
volunteers '. Karen & Don Hocken, lenny Glanville , Rose Mèddock and Bev Harvey . These are
the people who have made the se555on5 possible each week and deserve a very thank you for
thelr time and commiimeni.

Hall Hlre.. All the halls that are on the church premlse5 are booked out for mosl of the weEk
wlth ¥ariDus hirer5. Thi$15 a valuable In¢Dme stream for the ¢hur¢h ènd we have a good
rel*ionship with our hlrer5.
Garden of RemembTan¢e
Thls Garden, together wlth ihe Book of Rernernbrèn¢e, has exlsted lor over tw2nty years. The
PCC agreed to contlnuèlly ensure that the new plaques and the book are kept updated. In
addltlon, that the Garden is well malntèined. Thls 15 a place of comfort and reflection fDr our
parlshloners and neighbours alike.

Income streams are generated frorn the Parish Giving 5cherne, Stewardship, standing order5 4nd

introduction ot a di8iial Élvin8 machine. The impact Dn freewill 8ivlng Via the digltal giving
machlne has been an addltSonal É1.232 forthe year.
The contributian to the Diore5an 'Par15h Share, which helps tt>wJrd5 the cost of stipends and
housing costs for the clergy, was pa5d In full this year.
The PCC were 8rateful tll receive £21,SW in Legacy rnoney durfn8 2024.
A backdated HMRC clalm wa5 made In 2024 which resulted in è further £10,429 of unrestricted
funds.
In the lost quarter of thè year, an Admin15trator post was created for 3 freelance person and a
Ploneer Worker was appolnted as a volunteer with the PCC a8reein8 to pay the rental costs of
thls new worker.

The flnancial statements have been prepared under the hlstorical cost convèntlon with items
reco8nised at cost Dr transaction value unless Otherwise stated in the relevant notelsl to these
accounts. The flnanclal statements have been prepared in accordance with the Statement of
Rècommended Practice.. Accounting and Reportin8 by Charities preparing their accounts in
accordance with the Flnancial Reporting Standard appllcable In the UK and Republlc of Ireland
FRS1021 and the Flnanclal Reportin8 Standard applicable In the United Kingdorn and Republic
of Ireland IFR51021, the Charities Act 2011, ènd In accordance wbth ihe Church Accountlng

All voluntary giving is included In the Financial Statement lor the period it 15 receSved.
Donation5 under Éllt aid plus the Associated Tax Recovery are rècognlsed as Income when the
donation Is received. Le8acle5 are a¢counted for when thelr recelpt Ss certain and cèn be
properly quantified. Reali5ed Galns or Losses are retO8nised when Investments are sold.
Unreali5ed GaSns or L055es are accounted for on revaluatlon of Investments at the 31st
December each year. All other income is 8enerally reco8nised when It Is receivable.

The Diocesan quota is accounted for on the basls of the amount pald In the year. Resources
expended are recognised in the perlod to whlch they are included and include attributable VAT
whlch cannot be recoverpd. They are allocated to the pèrtlcular actlvity to which they relate.
A5 most of the Management and Actlvbty of the Church is carried out by volunteers, thi5
intangible c05t is not included in the Financial Staternents a5 thi5 voluntary contribution to the

As part of the Church of England the Church is an extepted charity withln the meaning of the
Taxes Acts. Accordingly it is potèntially exempt from taxation in respect of income and capital
gains received to the extent that such income OT gains are applied to extlusively charitable
purposes. No prtsvi5ions for taxation has been made in those financial s*atements.

Consecrated and beneficed property Is excluded from the accounts by the Charlties Act 2011.
No value is placed upon movable church furnishlng held by the churchwardens on special trust
for the PCC and which require a faculty for d15P05al since the PCC considers this to bè
inalienable property. All expenditure incurred durln8 the year on consecrated or beneficed
bulldings and movable church furnishings. whether malntenance or improvement, Is wrltten off
in the S.O.F.A. and separately disclosed.
