Summary of our main activitios for the purpose of PubliG Ben¢fft
Food BanklHub. Recydlng - Charity Shop. Café - A Social arena to relieve the
impact of isolats'on and loneliness. Memory Lane Café, Time to Talk sessions,
Coffee Momings, as well as themed 'events'. We have an A￿ssIble
Computer Suit, a￿ historically a Heritage Centre. which is open to the public
and provide free WI-FI access. Advlsory services induding beneffts and debt.
We provlde opportunities for Education and Training (subject to funding) as
well as training through Volunteering aThl Wort( experien￿ opportunities and

this financial year Employability Skills Workshops. We also facilitate a Food
Bank (now a Food Hub). Communty Lunch Days, daily affordable breakfasts,
lunches. A Genealogy Club. History Group and communty Room Hire. During
this financial year we launched an E-bay Project to create further
opportunities for trading.
Public Benefit
As a Board and a Charity we recognise 2nd follow the Charity Comrnissions
Guidance on public benefit. We ensure our services reflect our Charitable
Objectives and are predominately for Public Benefft especially with regard to
the relief and prevention of poverty. unemployinent as well as providing
opportunities for education and training.
We also acknowledge. recognise and thank all those staff and volunteers both
established and new who have continued to be committed and active
throughout this financial year enabling us to continue to meet the needs of
those most vulnerable in our communities. Without our dedicated staff and
volunteers who have been crucial to the Charities continued ability to deliver
its core objective namely °relief of povertf and have been central to enabling
our transition from a Food Bank to a Food Hub, setting up and delivering the
New E-bay project, delivering low cost breakfast and lunches alongside
running our 'Recycle' Charity Shop. Also both staff and volunteers have been
active in delivering Time to Talk sessions as well as organising and
supporting themed coffee momings and Charity Shop sales.
Our Achievements 20231202
Our greatest achievement must be that staff, Volunteers and Trustees have
ensured the continuanGe of delivering relief in Creswell throughout 23124
despite the financial 'tumdown' with our serwces continuing to attract a
reasonable footfall having recovered from the impact of COVID however
individua5 spend has not increased significantly resulting in little incraase in
overall trading.
Securing funding from Foundation Derbyshire enabled us to transition from a
Food Bank which was no longer financially viable to a food hub where the
community Gould 'buy a bag, for £4 and thoose from the variety of goods on
offer made available through our membership of Fareshare and a number of
donations from local stores. This is a weekly service, predominately run by
volunteers supporting on average 40 families delivering a variety of foods
including fresh produ￿. A huge thank you to Rhubarb Fami who supported
us in the transition from 'Bank to Hub,. sharing their knowledge, time and
expertise having run similar seNices. With must also thank the Foundation
Derbyshire grant which enabled us to purchase a new Freezer and Chilled
display unit, much needed for keeping food fresh for longer as well as being

energy efficient which alongside the use of 'bags for life, reduces our ￿rbon
footprint.
Wlth funding from Erewash Voluntary Action we have been able to deliver
regular Tim6 to Talk S&ssions both aftemwns and evenings wsth trained
Volunteers facilita￿ng the sessions. What we learnt from the provision of this
Servi￿ which continued up to FEbri￿ry 2024 was the importance of having
volunteers 'available' informally during the day especially coffee momings
ready to sit, listen and Ghat when needed rather than a scheduled s8ssion.
We ￿ntinUe to provide a 'place to chat and a listening earf through our coffee
momings and themed events. We have also facilitated 'Drop In. S8ssions by
the D8￿ySh1re Carers Association knowing from experience that.such
support can prevent the carer reaching a crisis" this is alongside continuing to
fadlitats weekly De￿ySh1re Unemploy&J Woil(ers (Your Voice Your Rights)
sessions providing infonnation, advice and support regarding benefits,
housing and debt. Recently we signed a service level agreement with Remedi
providing opportunities for young pwple

new skills whilst leaming how helpirKJ Out in the local communty is better than
causing the communty harm"
As a board we belleve strongly in this service giving young people a 'second
chance, to contribute. understaThJ the value of beir¥3 adive in their
cnmmunities. In other areas of our work y￿ encourage young people to
volunteer and in March one of these volunteers won an award "Brightlrfe
Champions against lor￿lineSS Awards" for his role at Limestone House
helping and supporting with the food hub ar¥J his general engagement with
those using our memry café.
We had various themed events thrO￿Jh0Ut the year Indudlng Celebrating the
Kings Coronation which was a VéDnderful Tea Party. with over 30 local
residents attending. We also had a 'k)W cost Christmas Lunch enjoyed by
over 20 residentslvolunteers made possible by the 'chef of the dav our own
wonderful Centre manager and her team. Our Ihemed. R&cycle shop sales
have also proved popular and have included 'Summer speC￿lS. Halloween,
Christmas and Valentines. providing low cost opportunities for celebrations.
WÉ have continued to support local activities including Creswell History and
Genealogy Groups and supported Creswell Craggs a local charity in
facilÈtating fascinating infonnation days to support their worf( in preservirKJ the
Palaeolithic site °stseEed in mystery arKJ histoty.

In November we were successful in our application for funding to the
Challenge Fund, which provided 'pump priming, grant to launch our E-bay
Shop enabling us to employ a project lead on a short-temi contract. The E-
bay Shop is an opportunity to maximise the 'high end, voluntary contributions
for the benefrt of the charity and its beneficiaries as well as acknowledging
peoples 'shopping habits. having changed with more and more shopping
online.
We were also successftjl in securing Educational and Skllls grant from BCVS.
which enabled us to deliver.

This financial year has also seen our volunteer base grow we 6 new recruited
and a new addition to our Board of Trustees.
Despite this having been another difficult year financially we are proud of what
we have achieved as a 'team' and we acknowledge that 24125 will be no less
challenging but with the dedication of both volunteers and staff we are
confident that we will be able to continue to deliver these much needed
seNices to our community.
Finances and Fundralsing
Our Manager has laken a leading role in managing our finances, alongside
our Secretary and designated Trustee who prowdes monthly updates on
trading perfomances.
The Accounts indicate that there has been only a small increase in our annual
trading with 2023 £34, 287 against £36,194

ability to deliver much needed services to our communty.
We have explored various ways in whlch we can Increase tradlng including
ratsing café prlces, open days and themed events and the E4)ay shop which
we hopeful wlll improve our overall trdding wth a target of £2,000 monthly by
Chri8trnas. However with our continued reliarKe of grants w8 wlll continue to
make appllcatlons to contribute to the varlous 8Ctlvltles whlch benèftt those
most vulnerable In our communlty Inc1￿1¢r￿￿ the Food Hub, provlsion of a safe

We are Charity govemed by our Articles of assoclalkjn and Memorandurn of
AssociatK>n and a Company Ltd by Guarantse with no share capiial.

Twstees are recruited locally and where possible have 'lived experiences, that
reflect our Charitable Objectives. We hold an Annual General Meeting and
Trustees have to be ratified each year by the Members. No body or
organisation can appoint Directors or Trustees only the Board and this is done
once a Year by the Members. We provide a rigorous training and support to
ensure Trustees and Directors are compliant including an induction. The
Board of Trustees continues to meet monthly holding additional meetings
when necessary to business.
The Board recognising an over rellan￿ on the role of Chair and Treasurer
with regard to structure, govemance and management there are now 4
signatories to the bank accounts, a Trustee responsible for staff relations and
development. a Chair and Vice Chair to ensure continuity and both a
se¢￿tary and Treasurer to ensure good management.
The Charity predominately works to support C￿swell and those who live in
the surrounding areas but covers Derbyshire in providing training support. We
are involved in all parts of the Dlstrict and County. the Communlty and
Voluntary Sector supporting and infomiing on its development. We have good
relationships with the Community and Voluntsry Sector and are linked with
organisations locally.

We report on the accounts of the charitable company for the year ended 31st March 2024. which are sel
out on pages 12 to 15.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examln¢r
The Trustees {who are also the Di￿lorS of the Company for the purpose of Company Law} are
responsible for the preparation of the Accounts. The Charitys Trustees consider that an audit Is not
required for this year LFnder section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 and that an independent examinats.on is
needed.
Having been satisf￿d that the Charity is not subject to audrt under company law and is eligible for
independent examination it is my responsibilty lo:_
