FINANCE REPORT
Following two very difficult years due to Covid-19, it has been encouraging to see the start of 2022 showing a profit, despite there being a slight drop in the various weekly/monthly giving, although we were very fortunate to have received a generous one-off gift donation of £2,500 and also a £1,000 legacy from a parishioner’s will.
Hall maintenance of £1,163. 00 included £950.00 for re-glazing the internal glass doors in addition to £213.00 for windows for the hall porch.
Two charity fund appeals were set up; the Nigerian Water Fund Appeal, which raised £1,000.00 to provide clean water to the community in Ondo State in Nigeria and was sent to St Andrews’s Anglican Church in Idanre, Nigeria. The good news is that through our generosity the water facilities have been provided and are now up and running.
Secondly, our ongoing Emergency Families Fund, which provides financial support for local families in need, especially during the cost of living crisis, both of which have been generously supported. The Emergency Families Fund continues to be supported with ongoing donations.
Hall lettings have continued to be used by various hirers, providing a welcome additional income.
The various social film nights, Thai night, quizzes etc held throughout the year were successful, both financially and socially. We were also able to hold a Summer Fair, Strawberry Tea and Christmas Tree Festival and Fair this year, all of which were very well attended and financially successful.
October saw the introduction of energy price increases, which has impacted on the cost to hall hirers, although the Diocese made a one-off heating grant payment of £1,000 in December to assist in helping with our church and hall heating payments.
The total cash and investment balances held at the end of the year were £76,622. 07 against £77,286.61 at the end of 2021. This is due to the poor performance of the shares market in 2022, which hopefully will recover again in 2023.
