Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing doGument TAR Mard) 2012 In planning the activrties for the year the trustees have reviewed the guidance on public benefit issued by the Charity Commission and at the monthly Trusteelmanagement meetings have satisfied themselves that the activities organised met that guidance. This year the Trust was able to retum to their nomial ways in which we raise funds which is by sponsored events, soGial events, street collections and the SUPFK)rt of other chantable organisations. We also continued to seek grants in order to facilitate our work with local families in need and other communrty projects. Summary ofthe main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefitl In addition we carried out 3 gardening projects, tsvo for local Schools and the other in the local Sensory Garden which is part of a larger public park. We hekl a Family Fun Day in the park as we came out of "lockdown" where admission was free. It was not used as a major fundraiser but more as a social gathering and somewhere where children and adults could get out in the fresh air and enjoy a social event as Covid 19 lockdown conditions relaxed. Many of our dub members volunteer their time and expertise through the year. They helped wtth sorting and prowding donated clothing, bedding. and household goods to local families in need as well as Afghan and Ukrainian Refugees. Helping at the local foodbank. They help with street collections in response to international disasters and towards Christmas sacks for the local families in need. Producing craft items for sale Clearing and making garden areas accessib￿ for children in two of our local schools. CEearing. planting arKI maintsining the Sensory Garden in the local park. TAR 2012 Section D Achievements and performance The Rotary Club has four main committees: Community. International, Youth and Foundation and Fundraising. Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year Community: During the year we SUPF)Ort the local communrty in many ways. We work closely with health professionals. schools, and housing assoaations to provide local families in need. those escaping domestic abuse, and refugees with essential items such as dothing, bedding. towels. and household items, etc. many of which have been donated. We also attend and support the local Foodbank with these items. We provided 385 Christmas sacks and Easter eggs TWI￿ a year we hold a Tea Dan￿ for dementia patients and their carers providing an aftemoon of music and tea. Internatlonal: If there is an intemational disaster we, along with the other Chichester Rotary Clubs. have street collections such as for the Haiti disaster, Ukranian conflict (through Rotary District 1145) and we have also supported British Red Cross (Afghans), Kids for KÉds, Exireme Nursing and Lend with Care. Youth". The Club supported 2 young students to attend The Rotary Young Leaders Awards. This 15 an activtty-based week which puts young people together and gives them the opportunity to leam new life skills and teamwork The Club also supported Chichester Festival Theatre and West Sussex County Counal with their holiday activities for Young Carers. We held a Golf Day in supwrt of our local chiklren's hospi￿, Chestnut Tree Hospi￿. A donation to Rotary Intemational's End Polio Now campaign is given annually. TAR March 2012 Section E Financial review Brief statemènt of the harity's policy on reserves The Trust has set a policy that any money raised should be used for grants and donations. There should be no substantial reserves held. It is the intention of the Trust to distn'bute the majority of the annual income to worthwhite causes each year. New clothing where needed such as for undetwear and badged school wear in order that children in sthool Y￿re not seen to be different because parents could not afford the unrfom. Baby equipment arvj items for those with Special Needs. Section F Other optional information Families who would otherwise have nothing get a Christmas sack wrth presents for all the family, food and few luxuries and a supermarket voucher to purchase other items they need. In 2021 we distributed 385 sacks providing cheer to 1342 children and 698 children. We also collect and distribute Easter eggs. Distribution of items and support of thc¥se in real need in our communty follows identification by local Social Workers in the County Council, Heatth workers in the NHS and Headteachers following strict criteria to be 'fair to all..
