Manvers Street Baptist Church (MSBC) approved a Revlsed Conslltullon at a Speoal
Church Members Meetlng on g November 2008 and was adopted as a registered
Charity on 2 February 2009 (Charlty No.1127828).

MSBC trnved to Its cuffent site 1872 but Its txtgins date fmrn 1752 with a Baptist
community worshlpplng In the cty ￿ntra. MSBC is understood to mean the members
of the d￿rItable unir￿lp0rated assoclatk)n govemed by Its current consutution arn
Trust Deed. The members appolnt a Boa￿ of Trustees (also known as Daa(X)ns) who
are responsEble for the govemance of the church as discemed by the Members
Meeting. The Church Is affillated to the Baptist Union of Great Britain arKI the West of
EnglarKI Baptist Assoclation, admlnister the Trust Deed. For IlnarKaal purposes
and Trustse 'service' the Church's annu81 year stsrts f￿rn 1 April 2023 to 31•f March
2024. A8 at 31$1 March 2024 the church had 57 members.
3. ObJecllv8s of th& Charlty
The prfn*al purpose of the charlty Is the advanC￿rnent of the Chrfstlan laith according
to the prlnciples of th8 Baptist denomlnation, wlth speclal emphasis to the ¢ity centre
environment. Th church may also advance Chrfsuan Teaching arKI carry out other
charltsble purposes at home and abroad.

Trustees (exceptlng Mlnlster, Sec￿tsry and Treasurer) are appointed for a tèrm of
offlce lasllng three years wilh the Opportun￿ to 8er¥e one further th￿e year lemi of
office if ekcted. After tsvo terms of office the trustee must take a sabbatical of at least
one year. The Mlnlster serves for hisffter tenure of offlce and the Secretsry arKJ
Treasurer are apwinted annually.

6. Staffing
The cP￿rCh supports an accredited Minlster of Rellglon on a fu￿tirne basls.
The church also employees a Centre Manager who Is also fvlmime.
The Centre Manager has line rn8nagement responsibility for an OffiGe Admlnlstrator
(part time). a Caretakw (part ￿rne) who Ilves on the premises and for a number of
volunteer staff who work in the Café. The Office Admlnislrator's task5 indude room
lettings and ofRce support dutles.
7. Achlevements and ￿rfOrnianc8
There have baen six Church Members Meetings in the year and ten TfUStee8
(Deacons) M8etings. Members of the fellowship also had a Saturday moming away
day to deepen fellowship and conslder new inttiatives. The Café at the Centre
Resource Group met twlce durfng the reporting perlod.
Reverend Andy Percey compleled hls ninth year as our mlnister. AndJls leadlng of
worship 18 both thoughtful and insplrfng and his pastoral glfts are much appreclated in
the wider fellowship. The café's primary role is provbding a sanctuary in a busy city
centre and Is an inwrtant aspect of the church's outreach.
The café also provides an ideal base for outreach. Examples of weekly gatherings
involving the church and wider community are:
Crafty Monday, on a Monday aftemoon, is time when °people meet people. In a
relaxed atmosphere and expEore creativty In a variety of ways.
Baby Toddlers group meat on Tuesday.
Mldweek service on Wednesday
Kids Eal Free durfng school holldays
Open Space Post Natal Group
Friday and Saturday nlghts as 8 base for Street Pastors
Charltable organlsations Opera￿ng from our premlses include:
Julian House Nlght Shelter and homeless services
Off The Record counselling service for young people - induding an 'OK Café, on a

The Socbty of Frlends (Quakers) meet each Sunday ffK)ming at the 8ame time we
meet in the sancauary. On SurKlay aftemoon the Church of God meet. We three have
vastly differRvJ fonns of worship but we co-&XiSt qulte happlly making full use of our
premises.
In this last year y￿ have started a new initlatlve- Kids Eat Free. Eath half ￿h0o1 terrn
and for two weeks durlng the summer kK)Ilday we offer free food to chlldren under 11
who woukl othepNlse stnjggle wilh ts increased cost of living and the extra meals
needed when not provided by the sclxiol. The mlnister visits one local care Ix)mes on a
monthly basis to lead services for residents. He also Is part of the group that organlses
the Pray for Bath events that happens twlce yearty. Our Centra fvlarkgger runs the Café
at the Centre and, wlth members of the fellowship, is engage(l in work with Babies &
Toddlers and 'Open the Book, at a local primary school. He is also involved with thé
Bath Gaieway Out arKJ About Club for vulnerable adults.
We continue to give financial support to the Baplist UnK)n Howe Mlsslon Fund (£3.000)
and Baptlst Misslonary Soclety (£3,000) Turkey & Syrta E8rt1￿uake £476. British Red
Cross £326 & Chiklren in Dlstress £326.
The church remalns in a healthy place In Its misslon and Its worship. There are a￿ayS
challenges with an agelng congregation, especlally pastorally, but have a dedicated
and skilled leam who support the minister in this minlsty. People are growlng in thelr
faith. The church is good news at the heart of the aty centre, being good news to the
poor, the lordy, the outsider. the refugee and many others across a wlde section of
society.
We are pleased that our relath)nshlps wlth other churches in the city. as well as 0th8r
comrnunlty groups continues to be strong.
Whilst the challenges for next year remaln clear, and the future remalns uncertain, v
can be (￿nfIdent that we can meet Ihese challenges with courage and peace, knowlng
that we are a strorvJ community, with trust in a falthful God.

The Charlty wlll:
Seek to maintain a Christian WItr￿SS in our clty cenlre: offering a safe place for all to
meet.
Devebp mutual support groups for all members of our fellowship.
Continue the search for an appropriate way In which to administer the charities,
actNities.
UrKlertake substantial maintenance work on the premtses.
