REPORTING FRAMEWORK The financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011, the Memorandum and Articles of Association, and Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS102) (effective 1 January 2019), referred to as the Charities SORP (FRS 102) (second edition – October 2019). Mission "To serve our community, Arts and Health and improve the quality of life of our residents. " Objectives and Activities Participation and quality innovative provisions Activities. To promote cohesion, engagement, and employment opportunities for the local communities. Health and well-being Our aim is to promote Health and well-being and improve local people's participation in Healthy lifestyle activities Activities through informal education and support. We promote social inclusion and community cohesion and support local communities those facing barriers due to age, health, language, disability etc. Education training and volunteering We develop and enhance the skills of local communities through lifelong learning, education and training provisions for everyone - promoting confidence in learning skills. We work very closely with local communities, statutory and voluntary agencies to promote safety, Health Information and guidance We provide health information through our Community Health Information Shop in different languages. Achievements and performance Charity is confident and proud in meeting all objectives set. Financial review Financial position of the organisation is stable and strong. All objectives are being met on target and according to set budgets. All projects were delivered in accordance with funding and grants conditions. The Charity is intending to increase its fund-raising activities to expand activities and services to local communities. Charity is exploring funding avenues to develop staffing by core funding. The Charity has also continuously updated its financial management and all other policies and procedures and monitors its functions during Board meetings. Multicultural Resource Centre TRUSTEES’ ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED DECEMBER 31 2021 Statement of trustee's responsibilities The trustees are responsible for preparing the trustee's annual report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom generally accepted accounting practice. Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently. Observe the methods and principles in the charities SORP. State whether applicable UK accounting standards have been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements; and Prepare financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charitable company will continue in operation. The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charitable company. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charitable company and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. ## MULTICULTURAL RESOURCE CENTRE ## **Projects:** ## 1. Mental Health sustainability Fund Project Training for volunteers and staff Zoom and Team meeting, Video editing, poster making for social media. Purchase laptop and tablets. Making resource pack Audio CD Self Help Depression and Low Mood English and Urdu Audio CD Self Help Stress and Anxiety English and Urdu Audio CD Self Help Depression and Low Mood English and Bangla Audio CD Self Help Stress and Anxiety English and Bangla A/4 print, Mental Health Awareness, Covid awareness in English, Urdu, Gujrati, Persian, Arabic and Bangla. ## 2. Making Connections The project was to work with older BAME people in 7 towns of Greater Manchester to reduce isolation and vulnerability. It was to improve their quality of life through the provision of a cultural and language specific support service. The referrals came from housebound older people affected by long term conditions, loneliness, isolation, and lock down. ## 3. Lockdown and Loneliness Group activities via Zoom sessions focused on health and wellbeing and how to tackle loneliness was provided to 5 organisations in Rochdale, Oldham and Tameside. ## 4. Poetry Behind The Mask Project was to work with our existing members and other South Asian communities in Greater Manchester through social media, Whatsapp and Facebook. We developed a WhatsApp group of people to participate in this project. We also created online poetry event and used Youtube channel to promote. We were also given an opportunity to get BBC News coverage as well. The project has also produced 11 videos by writers to encourage everyone to get vaccinated. All videos are on our partner organisation Carvan-E-Adab YouTube channel. ## 5. Resource Packs were produced for local communities. ## 6. Out of Hours Mental Health Support The project provided out of hours mental health support specifically for people living within Greater Manchester from the BAME community. It was provided in various languages over the phone, online and face2face. ## 7. Safe Space ‘Women of Freedom’ is a project to work with women and girls in Rochdale. Razia Shamim and Nighat Amini worked with participants by involving them into activities to make them feel physically and emotionally safe. Session worker also helped them to search on net about struggle of women during Pakistan movement. The project will end in 2022. ## 8. Celebration of Volunteers The project was to acknowledge the support of volunteers by organising event and giving them certificates. ## 9. Rewind The Clock The project was to work with different organisations in Rochdale, Ashton, Oldham and Bolton. Recording memories of childhood street games and produce postcards and booklet. ## 10. Conversion of our five projects books into PDF. ## 11. Loan Shark The project is to work with South Asian Communities (Pakistani, Indian, Bangladeshi, Asian African) in Rochdale and Oldham. Freelance Artist will work with three groups in Rochdale, Deeplish Youth Group, Pakeeza Women Group, People coming at Money Transfer Shop (Umair Travel) and one group in Oldham, Pakistani Community Centre. The project will end in 2022. ## 12. Hope and Hug The project was to work in Rochdale, Oldham and Bolton. Poetry Mondays - participants to get involved in reading poetry Life story Monday – sharing their life stories Wisdom Monday – sharing quotes from great thinkers Singing Monday – participants will sing their favourite songs Holistic Monday – presentation holistic approaches for wellbeing Social Monday – making motivational post to share on social media. The year 2021 was very different because of Covid 19 situation and we had lot of financial support from GMCVO. We did 5 projects including Promotion of Early Year Education, Survey to explore the views of local people about NHS and LLTTF courses to community groups. ## Independent examiner's statement I have completed my examination. I confirm that no matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: 1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the company as required by section 386 of the 2006 Act; or 2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or 3. the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements of section 396 of the 2006 Act other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair view’ which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination; or 4. the accounts have not been prepared in accordance with the methods and principles of the Statement of Recommended Practice for accounting and reporting by charities applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102). I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
