TRUSTEEST REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31ST MARCH 2024 (CONTINUED)
Objectlves and alms
The objectives and aims of the Chariiy are:
To raise funds for the management, upkeep and promotion of an institution known as The
Unique Home in India. The aim of that institution is to provide moral, social. cultural alld
economie uplift of unwanted, orphaned and abandoned f¢mal¢ childr¢n without distinction of caste.
creed or religion.
To raise awareness of the institrjtion known as The Unique Home in India 80 that funding and
id are donated directly to that institution.
Each ycar the trnste¢s r¢vi¢w th¢ artivities of the charity in order to ensure that they continuc to
r¢flect the obj¢￿1ve5 s¢t out in the trust dee4t In carrying out this review the trustees have consid¢r¢d
th¢ Clwity Con]mission's general 8uidance on public benefit in particular, its supplementary
guidance on the prevention or relief of wv¢rty for the pub]ic benefit and the draft guidance on public
benefit and moral or ethical beli¢f systems.
It is the trustees, opinion that the operntioll of the Charity in its present forni is for the public I￿nefit
under the principles set out in the Charity Commission guidance. The work of the trnst gives ri8¢ to
public benefit by providing 8UPPOrt for The Unique Home in India which in turn provides free
ac¢omm(Klation, sustenance, moral guidance and support for unwantc(L 0￿balled and abandoned female
children in ]ndxa. The girls arc also afforded th¢ opportunity to attain high educational standards. Tcstamcnt
to this is the success of two of the older girls who have been in long terni care at Unique Home. One of
whom attained a Masters Degree at College in Jalandllar. whilst the other studied at Leeds Beckett
University. Leeds UK and was successfijl in obtaining a Batchelor of Arts, First Class Honours Degree in
July 2018. Both girls are now respectively employed in Toronto and Vancouver, Canada.
Volllnteers
The charity is grateful for the effotts of its volunteers who are involved in raxsing funds and rUDn1￿ the
clwity. tn previous years, volunteer's antlual efforts amounted to approximately 500 hours in total. It
h&s always proved difficult to attribute in an economic value. this contribution to the charity. Howevcr,
because of circumstances beyond the c4)ntrol of the charity which curtailed fuThdtaising campaignsj
voluntccr hours have reduced approxin)at¢ly by half. The tswt¢¢s, themselves volwrteer4 ensure that
best vakne is derived from the effects of all volunteers.
Achievement aDd perfornianee
The CE￿Ity has ¢ontinu¢d to raise il's in¢>)me througb donations. It wa8 good to rea¢tivate the Ch￿ltY ball
in Birn)ingham wbic]L rai8¢d a Iremendous amount of income and awarcne5S.
The direct debit contributions have remained steady and this has helEKd the reserves of the clwity.
Dialogu¢ wtth th¢ Hom¢ ren￿InS ongoing and consistent via visits and ell￿1]s by the Tn￿¢¢5. There have
akn been higb profile visitors to the Home which has raised even more awareness.
The Charity h&8 continued to be used in an advis(￿ Cap￿ltY by individuals and small groups of supporters
from aeross the globe WFLO are looking to plan or hold fundraising activiti¢s ¢ither for the Chority direct or

A¢hi¢vement and performance (Contfinued)
Social Media platforms remain active and ongoing with individuals arranging ad-hoc events to support
the Home from time to time on an ongoing basis.
Tr annual Cake and CaJNllcs Campaign r￿n￿]nS strong and this y￿r was supported very well by
way of w>sts on social m￿lia alld photographs being provided by a number of supporters of UK
Friends of Unique Hom¢ (Punjab) This annual event brings joy to the children every 24th ApIil.
Thc Home treats this day, as the birthday of all their Childre￿ Support for the initia¢iv¢ was WOTld-wid¢
With groups from New Zealand participating.
Reseryes Po]Icy
Funds are collect¢d through voluntary donations alld it is this illcome that furLds the work of the charity.
The net incoming ￿SoUrCeS for the year auLOUlltcd to £14,626, which Itfted the getwdl res¢TV¢S at the
end of the fu￿￿'la1 year to £189,326.
With regard to those generdl reserves. a policy has b¢en establisbed whereby the unrestricted funds
not comlllltted or invested in tangibl¢ fixed assets, the free reseryes, beld by thc charity should bc
b¢tween 12 and 24 months of the resollr￿ expend￿ annually. Thi8 equat￿ to £15,000 10 £30.000
in free reserves. It 18 felt that, at this level, it would be p05$ibl¢ to ¢ontinue the cuts activities of
the charity in the event of a significallt dr{￿ in donations. This would then give 8ufficient time to
consider how the fLLllding would be replaced OT the activities changed.
Prlnclpal Funding Sources
The Primary fiulding source is donations from the clwitys supporters. The fillMLs from this souwe
are lo provide phased fi￿dIllg donations to the Unique Home in order to achieve the objectives
of IJLe clwity.
Overall. the trnstees are satisfied with these results and we will endeavour lo maintain this level of
income in fijture.
Fufvre Developments
The Charitys website and 80cial media sites continue to be reviewed with the intention of updating
the format and content, when and if deemed appropriate.
With the ll￿ill building of the complex. and the 5ickness/i801ation suite completed, ￿tUre plans are to
purcbase adjacent land which will have a developmettt, incorFX)rating a Digital Educational Hub
for the older girls. This complcx will rcplacc previous plans to build an ¢du￿tiOn centre beside the main
building. This is an Qngoing matter of discussion that the home is leading. The Charity will ensure tbat this
development reccivcs appropriat¢ financial support when ￿quIred.
Other pkn5 include a strong possibility of long tenll UK friends upgrading or even developillg a new
w¢bsit¢.
The Charity will also be bosting an Event in London in 2025.
The aim this year is to consolidatc and wodt towards orwising more live fimdraisinE events
