Th8 Potters House Mglhodist Church was ostablished as a charity in England and Wal8s (Number
11274621 on 9th January 2009 under the Deed of Union {1932) and Methodist Church Act (19761.
Recrnltment and appolntmont of trustees
Appointment of Irust8es is govemed by the constitution of the charity. Trustees are nominated by
church members and must b8 ￿mmItted members of the church. The trustees will conduct an
Inlerview with the prospecl've n8w trustee at which the responsibilitses of trustees will be diseussed
and a schedule of eXP8Gted dub'8s is provided. The trustees will review tho position and ensur8

Publlc benefit
We arfj a Chrtslian Churd). We offer regular worship and acbvib8s for all ages.
Potters Churth organises Christian acts of worship for a (x)mbined congregation of approximately 220
- 250 wee￿Y worshippers. Vve hoki weekjy services in Birches Head, ba58d al the Bridge Centre.
These are identical and take pkce at 9.30am and 11.15am.
Potters Church provides a wide v8riety of weekday activities for trje ben8fit of the public wthin the
Stokg-on-Trent community. Such activities indude- yoJth work. a parents I carers and toddler5 group,
weekty meeting for retirad and okjer people, a social sports group for older p8opI8, a craft club and
a number of other groups to support daity lrfe and well being.
Over the last iwelve months. we have also supported Ioc81 families in Hanl8y and Birches Head
through our links wth the C￿operatIve Academy Hamimon. We have provided donations and gffts for
people in n8ed through our Christmas Appeals and Ihrough the distribution of a share of the
Household INinler Support Fund.
We hav8 also started (September 2024) a new playgroup for parents, car8rs and under 3's at
Hamilton Academy, mnning fothightly. It is a space for Peop￿ to connect. play and reeelve support. It
is called 'Tea and Tols,.
We support a number of h)cal charities on a monthly basis. as w811 as supporting individuals and
families its need through occasional and restK)nsive giwng. Wa also gNe to som8 national
orgarsisalions Io SUPFK)rt their wort(. Charities to support are deGided at our church council and a
revlew8é annualty.
The t￿Stee$ confim that they have complied wlth Ihe requirements of section 17 of the Charities Act
2011 to have due regard to the public benefit guidance published by the Charity Comrnission for
England and Wales.

In Stok8 on Trent, W8 have tinancialty 5UPPOrted projects which thallenged issues of modem-day
slavery, supported th8 local Foodbank, provided opwrtunitses for ex-offeiders and responded to the
issues fa￿d by refugees and asylum seekers who have been housed in the local are8. We supported
work wf(h the homeless in our city, focusing on 5UPPOrt and rehabilitation. Ajongside this, we support
th8 work of a missionary farnity in ThailarKI through prayer and financial giving from within the widar
church family. A larg9 numb8r of people wtthin our church also sponsor ¢hihJren through the
organisalion 'Compassion'. All details of th8 charibes and causes that we give regularly lo can be

As a local church w8 sucLessfulty hosted a weekty comTnunity group for rAder peopb, provlding
friendship. support and a rdnge of soaal events. We also run a weekly group aimed at providin9 a
safe space lo play for and parents, carers. babie5 and toddth. We have developed our teamlsl
through the part lim6 128 hours) appointrnent of a new Children's Ministry L8ader, who has
SLJccessfully compl8t8d their six month probationary period. This appointment has been a major
developrnenl Ihis year and wll help to d8velop Ihe worfrf the thurch can offer.
As a murtlgonerational church we provide faith basgd activities for all ages. for example our monthly
'Hobby Hub, and '8ikers Hub. that meet on sa￿rdaY rnornings.
We have doveloped our Wofk programme to indude a g￿ater omphasls on discip18ship and
inclusion. Our young people have be8n on a weekend away togethor to 11am in the Peak District to
work on gro￿ng falth and friendship.
We have seen continued growth wth our weekly group focusir)g on sporting activities and friendship
for older people. This. along ￿1h Ihe moming group 'oF￿74 House,. providès 8 full day of activities and
socialisir@ rf people choose to access ff(. Peopl8 who attend these griyips ar& from wrthin Ihe church
community, as w811 as from wtthin th8 k)cal area.
We have supportgd a wd8 variety of local famili8s through links with local schools. W& have provided
a number of shopping vouchers to support local pgople in need. as well as new white goods, bedding
and other household items.
We have supported local school focKlbanks and provtded emergency support for people in need.
Our youth group fundraised to support the work of th8 tharity OneByOne which seeks to combat
modem slavery. They raised £1,069.
On Sundays we meet to worship God. to celebrate our faith and give thanks for God's wdness. We
welcome all people.
We have continued lo rebuild our church commL'nhty FN)St£owd 19. W8 hav8 wglcomed new peopl8
into our church and continue to do so. We regularfy welcome new people I visitors lo our church.
W8 continue to support and network with a number of Christian organisations and ChUrGh￿ around
the city of Stoke on Trent and beyond.

number (around 501 regular and committed volunteèrs.
In April 2024. we appolnted a Children's Ministy Leader- Rebec￿ Poole. She is contracted to w(xk
28 hours per week and the focus is on developing our chikJren'5 ar￿ younger youth ministy wrthin
church and the local community.

The charity is considered to pass the tests set oui in Paragraph 1 Schedule 6 of the Finance Act 2010
