## Public benefit 

Weare a Christian Church. We offer regular worship and activities for all agas. 

Potters Church. organises Chilstian acts of worship for a combined congregation of approximately 200 weekly worshippers. We hold weekly services in Birchas Head, based at the Bridge Centre. These are identical and take place.at 9.30am_and 11.15am. 

Potters Church provides a wide varlety of weekday actlvitias-far the benefit of the public within the Stoke-on-Trent conimunity.. Such activities include: youth work, a parents and toddlers group, a weekly mesting for retired-and elderly individuals, a craft club and a sports group. The trustees confirm that they have complled with the requiraments of section 17 of the Charities Aci 2011 to. have due regard: te the public benefit guidance published by the Charity Commission for England and-Wales,

As a local church we successfully hosted a weekly community group for older people, providing: fhendship, support arid a range of social events. We also run & weekly group -aimed at providing a. safe space to play for and parents, carers, babies and toddlers. , 

As.a muttigenerational church we continued during thls period to provide falth based activities forall ages and have developed our.youth work programme to include a greater emphasis on discipleship and inclusion. 

We have begun a new weekly group focusing.on sporting activities and friendship for older:peopla. 

We. have. supported a wide variety of local families through Ilnks with local schools. We have provided ‘a number of shepping vouchers te support local people in need, as well as new white. goods, bedding -and other household ftams. 

We have supported local school foodbanks and provided emergency support for people in need. 

Our youth-group fundraised to support the Stoke.on Trent foodbank and ralsed over £800 to donate. as part of thelr dctivitlas, On Sundays we meet to worship, to celabrate and challenge people lacal[and][intemational][needs.] to respond with God's love to 

We have successfully begun to rebuild our church community post-Covid 19. We hava welcomed new andpeopleNewcastleInto our church Undér Lyme. and continue-to do so. We hava ceasedto meet.as a congregation in Longton 

We continue. to-support and network with a number of Christian organisations and churches -around the city of Stoke on Trent:and beyond.

Our church and Its activities ara run and supported by a small staff team and_a number {around 100} regular valunteers,

## 8 Government grants 

In the year ended. 31 August 2022 £10,000 of grant funding was given to the. charity by Stoke-on-Trent City Council from the Winter Food and Essential Supplies Fund. The amount of grants recognised In the financial stataments was £10,000 (2021 - ENII). There were no unfulfilled conditions at the. year end. 

## 9 Trustees remuneration and expenses 

During the year the-charity made tha.following transactions with trustees: 

Rev P: Hancock Rav P. Hancock received remuneration of £NIf (2021: £11,638) during the’ year. 

This remuneration was pald via the district and circuit, 

Rev'P Hancock is'ne longer:remuneratad and carries. on as.a volunteer; 

Mre A Price Mrs.A Price received remuneration of£34,800 (2021: £26,500) during the ‘year. Salary of £30,000 (2021:-£25;000) was paid directly.£1 ;800 {2024: £1,500) of pension contributions. were made for Mrs A Price. Any expenses reimbursed were-for Mrs A Price's pald employment and not in:relationto her role as.a trustee, 

Pension contlbutions have been paidto a defined contribution scheme. No.tusiees have recelved any reimbursed expenses from the charity during the year. Donations made by the trustees without any conditions attached totalled £20,030 for the. year (2021 - £16,940). .

Misc Restricted funds - varlous small projects:including Craft, Voice of Hope, Flourish, Little Bridges; Cheir and. Reach. Income Includes small grants, as well as donations and income from spscific charitable activities 

Open House -.a friandship group for elderly and retired people which includes grant income of:£750 from The Malam Fund. (through The Community Foundation for Staffordshire) 

Longton Church - outreach programme.in. Longton 

Ssedbed - work with asylum seekers.and refugees 

Mathodist Youth Activities - to provide youth activities and Holidays. The Methodist Church - Chester and Stoke-on-Trent District gave. a grant.of £500 in the year ended 31. August 2022. 

Castle Connect Church - for the church plant in Newcastle-under-Lyme including grants fram The Methodist Church - Chester and Stoke-on-Trent District 

The Community Foundation for Staffordshire ~ Covid-19 Emergency Fund to support the church's activitiesin response to the COVID-19 pandemic 

TLG Transforming Lives:for Good -Box of Hope - to. help support children and familles affected bythe COVID-19 pandemic 

Chester and Stoke District Education. grant - to:purchase a computer for use in the church's children’ and youth work 

Local family support - to help families In the locality, Stoke on Trent City Councl provided a grant of £10,000 from the Winter Food and Essential Supplies Fund. to support this’ project in the year ended 31 August 2022.

Brian Barber (Brian Barber was a trustee of the church until his.resignation in September 2021.) whichDuring the year ended 37 August 2021he purchased £600 of exercise squipment from the church ‘At was no longer in use. The amound paid by Bran Barber was the original cost of the equipment. the batance sheet date the amount due to/from Brian Barber was £Nil (2021 - ENi[). The Methodist Church - Chester and. Stoke-on-Trent District (Brian Barber was a trustee of The Potters House Methodist Church untit his resignation in September 2021. Brian Barber was a trustee of the Methodist Church - Chaster and Stoke-on-Trent District) The charity received grants, of £500 (2021: £400) from Tha Methodist Church - Chester and ‘Stoke-on-Trent .District during the year.
