THE BLOSS FAMILY FOUNDATION TRUSTEES’ ANNUAL REPORT YEAR ENDED 5 APRIL 2025
The Trustees have pleasure in presenting their report and financial statements of the Charity for the year ended 5 April 2025.
Objects of the Charity
The objects of the Charity are: To help children and young people from deprived backgrounds who are mentally or physically disabled to enjoy a better quality of life by distributing money to provide equipment, services or facilities.
The charity achieves this by making grants to various organisations and other charities who relate directly to young people. Grants may be for specific purposes like equipment or facilities or for general financial support of the organisation. We like to support organisations which also promote participation in recreation and sport and promote and provide education and training for the people described in their objectives.
Achievements and performance
During the year the trustees meet regularly to consider grant applications received but did most of the donations in January/February 2025. We distribute the funds across a wide variety of causes in line with the stated aims of the charity, for example “Orpheus” who provide musical education to the disabled and helped them put on a concert last year.
Many organisations provide care for families who are affected by a child with a life-limiting illness such as £1,000 given to Go Beyond ‘Chicks’. £2,000 was given as a contribution towards setting up a sensory area for very disabled children as part of ‘CHIPS’. £2,000 was given to Barton Camp, which was towards adventure camps in a facility in the Mendips provided to children from very deprived backgrounds and who have often not left their city. £1,000 was given to Custom Eyes to help provide books for blind children. £1,800 went to Sir Francis Chichester Trust specifically for some sailing equipment they need to help children from deprived backgrounds learn resilience and skills and have fun whilst learning to sail. We gave £1,000 to ‘Designability’, a charity that amongst other things makes whizzybugs for disabled children. £1,000 was given to Surrey Care Trust to find sessions to those who cannot afford to pay for counselling support to children and where there is a shortfall in NHS services.
Some of these charities we have supported for many years and they have come to depend on our support. Others for example ‘Dressability’ (£500 donated to make clothing that is suitable for disabled children to enable independence or ease of dressing) are new and we wanted to help their cause. The charities are distributed across Surrey, Devon and Avon and a few national ones such as Royal School for the Blind. In all we supported 27 charities donating a total of £30,600 (see donations table).

New trustees are recruited by recommendations from the trustees. Suzanne Eastman was appointed as a trustee in August 2024 as we like to have four trustees.
