Grants may be for specific purposes like equipment or facilities or for general financial support of the organisation. We like to support organisations which also promote participation in recreation and sport and promote and provide education and training for the people described in their objectives. ## **Achievements and performance** During the year, the charity met regularly to consider the grant applications received. We distribute the funds across a wide variety of causes. For example to ‘Orpheus’ who provide musical education to the disabled and helped them put on a concert this year. Julia’s house and Cherry trees are specialist organisations that provide care for families who are affected by having a child with a life limiting condition. A £500 grant can support a nurse care for a child giving the family a break and play tailored to the child. £1000 was given as a contribution towards setting up a sensory area for very disabled children as part o The Grand Appeal Bristol. £1000 was given to Burton camp , part of the Bristol Children’s Help society which was towards adventure camps in a facility in the Mendips provided to children who have very deprived backgrounds and who often have not left their city. £500 was given to custom eyes to help provide books for blind children. £1000 was given to Liquid vibration a service for the deaf. £1200 went to Cerebral Palsy Trust to help children with this condition. That charity also provide support to their families. £1539 went to Sir Francis Chichester Trust specifically for some sailing equipment they needed to help children from deprived backgrounds learn resilience and skills and have fun whilst learning to sail .We gave £1000 to a new charity that makes wizzybugs for disabled children . £1300 was given to Wellspring a charity providing counselling services. This money was given to fund sessions for those who cannot effort to pay and where there is a shortfall in NHS services. Some of these charities we support most years and they have come to depend on our support ; others are new . In all we supported 25 charities donating a total of £29,529. See Table page 5 ## **Financial review** Income received during the year was £32,184. The charity made grants totalling £29,529.00 and did not claim any fees during this financial year. Investments increased in value by £159,256, meaning that at the year end the charity’s investments were worth £1,105,177 Free reserves at the end of the year were £54,698. The endowment fund value at the year end was £1,050,479. The charity is happy with the reserves held and will not make grants if it does not have adequate reserves. ## **Structure, governance and management** The charity is governed by its trust deed, dated 01/12/2008 1 ## **THE BLOSS FAMILY FOUNDATION TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT YEAR ENDED 5 APRIL 2024** The Charity is governed by a Board of Trustees who are responsible for setting the strategic direction of the organisation and for establishing policy. The Board of Trustees meets regularly to discuss _grant applications received and distribution of funds. We review the investment portfolio which is managed by the stockbrokers EFG Harris Allday._ New trustees are recruited by recommendations from the trustees. A new trustee has been found for next year as we like to have four. ## **Statement of trustees’ responsibilities** The trustees are responsible for keeping adequate accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charitable company and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Companies Act 2006. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charitable company and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. I report in respect of my examination of your charity’s accounts as carried out under section 145 of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the 2011 Act’). In carrying out my examination I have followed the Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5) (b) of the 2011 Act. ## **Independent examiner’s statement** I have completed my examination.
